Attn: Does anybody have Bob Marley Live at the Roxy and would like to send it to me? At least the second Cd but if possible both kthnx.
I did, but it's gone now. sorry

/no help

Does anyone have No Depression they can upload? I haven't listened to it for awhile, so I've only had Anodyne to listen to -- which isn't nearly as good, but still plausible.

Np: Uncle Tupelo - New Madrid (Anodyne's finest moment)

EDIT: Bonus Tracks would be great too. :)

jpj 02-28-2006 03:51 PM

I'll upload No Depression for you.

That thing on PBS was pretty cool.

robo2448 02-28-2006 03:51 PM

I have Live at the Roxy and No Depression. So I guess I better get going with the uploads. I'll do both of them this afternoon. Miik, what's your e-mail? I don't think I have it.

Edit- Okay I guess jpj is doing No Depression. I'll do Live at the Roxy now.

Strawberry Fields, Blackbird and that first "Georgey" sounding song Paul did last night was awesome.

Okay, both are uploaded. I'm gonna send them out now.

Edit- sent.
np: Robert Johnson- Dead Shrimp Blues
It seems to me that Robert Johnson has a higher percentage of songs ending in 'blues' than most blues artists. Or am I toatlly wrong?

Against Miik! 02-28-2006 04:33 PM

sweet got it. I could listen to the Get Up Stand Up/No More Trouble/War jam forever.
It seems to me that Robert Johnson has a higher percentage of songs ending in 'blues' than most blues artists. Or am I toatlly wrong?
Lots of blues songs end with blues. But yeah Robert Johnson songs ending in blues:

Kind Hearted Woman Blues
Terraplane Blues
Phonograph Blues
32-30 Blues
Dead Shrimp Blues
Cross Road Blues
Walking Blues
Preaching Blues
Me and the Devil Blues
Stop Breakin' Down Blues
Traveling Riverside Blues
Milkcow's Calf Blues

So yeah, quite a few. I'm actually just starting a review of Robert Johnson- The Complete Recordings. He's incredibly awesome.

jpj 02-28-2006 04:47 PM

I sent out No Depression.

Glitterati 02-28-2006 06:36 PM

I realize that they're totally cheezy '80s pop, but does anyone like Duran Duran? They're kinda one of my guilty pleasures :)

np: Hungry Like The Wolf

Leper 02-28-2006 06:46 PM

Haha I can't hear that song without immediately thinking of Old School.

JonG 02-28-2006 06:54 PM

In my library there is a memorial for some dead person.

It says "Boy Blue" above the picture.

I couldn't help but laugh.

YOU MY BOY BLUE

I knew that lots of blues artists had titles ending in blues, but RJ doesn't have many recordings, so it seems like most of his songs end like that.

Looking forward to your reveiw.

They might be a tad cheesy but they are cheesy with great music. "Rio" has to be my favorite song, and my favorite album also. Speaking of 80's pop I've been looking for A Flock of Seagulls - ST forever and I haven't found it anywhere. Best Buy only has greatist hits

A Flock of Seagulls.

That reminds me of the Vice City commercial.

Why is Curtis Mayfield so good?

Broken Arrow 02-28-2006 08:23 PM

Did anybody else download that July album from Chris's site? I think it's one of my favourite I've gotten off it, really catchy melodies.

I posted it- http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review_5450

He had a lot of reasons to use the word blue though. I mean his wife and child died on the same day when his wife was giving birth. That's rough. Plus there was that whole devil thing.

I didn't download the July. I meant to but then he deleted the archives.

I'm not a fan of '80s pop.

I'm really disappointed with Chronicles Vol. 1. About a quarter of the book is really worth the time, he explores some really interesting topics and analyzes them with vivid detail but the other three quarters of the book however, are rather useless bits of information that really bring down the book's overall quality. This isn't a bad book by any stretch but I think the hype it was given was far too great for it to live up to.

magicbus 02-28-2006 10:52 PM

Who is the book about?

Thanks for the live Marley and Frog Brigade albums guys.

NP: Bob Marley - No Woman No Cry

Led-ZeppelinIV 02-28-2006 11:33 PM

Dylan.

Thanks for list.

Leper 03-01-2006 12:44 AM

That reminds me, I should really finish reading the Beatles Anthology.

Seafroggys 03-01-2006 01:12 AM

have you ever fallen in love with a CR song from a commercial? Name the commercial and song.

THe big one for me is White Rabbit off of the Red Faction commercials like 4 years ago (a computer game for those who don't know). I saw that commerical and the first thing to blow me away was the song. It was the end of the song too! :)

Leper 03-01-2006 01:24 AM

Hmm that's an interesting topic. I can't think of anything at the moment...

NP: CCR- Have You Ever Seen the Rain

Led-ZeppelinIV 03-01-2006 08:39 AM

I first heard The Band on a cell phone commercial, now I love them.

Oh, and volunteers on that e-trade commercial, which pissed me off.

Not a commercial, but I've downloaded songs I've heard in movies. I've got most of the songs from Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, because I love the music in Tarantino movies. He doesn't just put on The Strokes or whatever, he goes for something obscure. Also, amazing scoring in Kill Bill, I believe it was one of the guys from Wu-Tang Clan.

I know. I was kidding because your post lacked substance.

EMH: It was RZA. He did a great job. My favorite soundtracks are Wes Anderson's though. My favorite is The Royal Tenenbaums but Rushmore and The Life Aquatic's are good too.

PinkFreud 03-01-2006 11:45 AM

I've been trying to type in capitals just to improve my typing. Haha. I've realized that i try to type in all lower-case when i write papers and essays as well so i need that to stop.

PinkFreud 03-01-2006 12:09 PM

Oh man. See? I didn't even notice until you pointed it out. I think it's hard for people to take me seriously when I type without capitals.

PinkFreud 03-01-2006 12:18 PM

Haha. And I'm afraid that's the case with many people.

PinkFreud 03-01-2006 12:24 PM

They ARE a formidable team, aren't they?

You've my respect....despite your affinity for Poison and the like....

:)

Leper 03-01-2006 12:54 PM

I don't think it's the vocals that turns people away from Poison.

Broken Arrow 03-01-2006 03:06 PM

Haha, my German teacher gave me a website that gives streaming links to radio stations all over the world. I'm listening to Deep Purple on a Dutch radio station, kinda weird but pretty sweet.
