my band had a 10 minute song and they were like "i dunno we shuold probably cut this down so people won't get bored" and i was like "i dunno you're all faggots" lol
Nah, nothing recorded.

I just want to write good music. Maybe it is good and im just being too hard on myself, but the reason im in a band is to make music that me and the rest of the band like, not what everyone else likes.
Well, what sort of music would you like to write? Everyone's goal is to write good music, but your influences and such probably play a large part in the sort of music you can write well.

I guess Im going in a more punk direction, some sort of it at least. Im didnt really say 'im gonna be in a punk band', I just started making stuff that I thought sounded cool, and it wasnt surprising that it sounded like and awkward mix of a clean-guitar Joshua Fit For Battle and Mineral, which is why I said theres too much contrast. And i kind of think that my drummer doesnt play loud enough. I dont know, just his crashes dont seem very loud and crashy.

Dies Irae 09-07-2006 04:43 PM

drummers suck

cobert 09-07-2006 04:44 PM

Nah, my drummers pretty cool, he usually makes a beat that at least goes along with the song, its just he doesnt play too loud.

Dies Irae 09-07-2006 04:45 PM

my drummer can't play metal so really just needs to die a quick but painful death while listening to good music

I don't know either of those bands :-\

But songwriting is a process cultivated through trial and experience, so everyone writes crap at first. As to the drummer, tell him to get more into it.

Dies Irae 09-07-2006 04:47 PM

um that does absolutely nothing

drummers don't have ears

Untitled 09-07-2006 04:48 PM

Permanent Solution 09-07-2006 04:48 PM

I beg to differ. :)

Even the heavy parts dont sound heavy enough, its retarded. Then sometimes we just sound like a straight up bad hardcore band. at least during those bad hardcore songs we have energy.

That's really not that long.

Wow Joshua is terrible. But nonetheless, those two would mix fine if you did it right. Heaviness is mostly drums though, so make your drummer get more into it.

You might just be in the wrong band though, you have to really click as members to get a good band.

Nick: Well that was the key missing ingredient :p

Dies Irae 09-07-2006 04:59 PM

well everyone else in the band is a total ****ing retard and can't seem to come to terms with how terrible the music and the drummer are

Im fine with my drummer, hes been the drummer in the few bands ive been in, so I gues you could say we 'click'. And I seriously might stab you to death for dissin JFFB, they theyve slowly become a precious favorite of mine.

I always say that drums, or the lack of, is the biggest part of any song. The beat you crash on or the syncopation of a song or even if theres drums at all can change the way a song feels. Seriously, I cant imagine the part right before the end of 'How Long Is The Night?' with drums, it would ruin it.
