kiss sucks to begin with. who cares whether they're dead or not. they are still better 99% of contemperary music. and many of those artists are coming out with new material. Eric Clapton has released two or three albums in the past couple of years. all of them were quite good. The Yardbirds had a great album after a 20 something year hiatus. the Eagles are back together. Lynyrd Skynyrd put out a new album. Led Zeppelin is releasing live footage for the first time. so maybe it isn't so futile. and don't post here to flame the music the thread is dedicated to. geez
I agree completely it is very hypocritical going into a thread and flaming music that everybody else in the thread loves kudos to you mate :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

All the Canadians are/were eating most likely.

Who here writes their own music? I'm just bored and curious.

Glitterati 09-06-2005 06:36 PM

*bumpity bump bump*

Out of curiousity, what's everyone's favorite song by Cream & The Who? For me:

The Who: The Acid Queen
Cream: Badge

I don't. I want to, but I'm NEVER satisfied with what I get. I've decided to only wait until I get a really good idea, then write it down.

Broken Arrow 09-06-2005 06:38 PM

I sometimes try to write music.

The Who-Something off Live at Leeds
Cream-White Room? Croosroads? Spoonful(live)?

I beat you to the bump. I couldn't choose a favourite song by either band actually. I find that too, about songwriting. Great lyric lines/song themes always jump out at me, and usually if I'm lucky I can find a way to make a song out of it. Sort of like Ringo saying the words "it's been a hard days night" and it turning into a good song....except only about 5 percent of my songs work out. And I always come up with my best riffs/lines when I'm laying in bed about to fall asleep, and usually I'm too lazy to get up and figure it out on the guitar...so I just forget them. That happened last night.

robo2448 09-06-2005 06:42 PM

The Who- Won't Get Fooled Again, Baba O'Reily, or Pinball Wizard

Cream- White Room, Badge, or Crossroads.

I had to do 3 each. Writing music is fucking hard. I've tried, but so far I can only write shit.

George Harrison started out writing shit though, and he became one of the greatest songwriters ever IMO.

angusmaster 09-06-2005 06:46 PM

The Who-Pinball Wizard , and pretty much all of tommy
Cream-White room

I believe it's "Won't Get Fooled Again."

AHEM, important music news I heard on the radio and wrote down so I could tell you guys:

Cream

The Cream Reunion shows in London will be released on DVD and CD, I didn't get the dates.
Cream is scheduled to play 3 reunion shows at Madison Square Garden (NYC) on October 24, 25, and 26. Tickets go on sale on September 11th for American Express owners, 19th for the general public.

Pink Floyd

The Live 8 DVD will be released on November 8. Pink Floyd is one of the few bands who's entire set will be shown on the DVD. They're also showing footage of the Floyd rehearsing.

Waters said the Live 8 performance was better than good, and it went very peacefully, without fighting. He also said they aren't planning on a reunion tour, but would be willing to do more reunion shows if for a good cause (political cause or charity). He also said this would give them an oppurtunity to play DSOTM in it's entirety live again.

Fingers crossed :thumb:

This was all on my local classic rock station, so it should all be pretty reliable.

Excellent news. Pink Floyd for hurricane relief concert? Maybe. Gilmour has always been a huge charity guy. I don't think I'll buy the Live 8 DVD, I already have Floyd's set ripped onto my computer. There were a bunch of crappy bands, so it's probably not worth what it will cost. I'm definitely looking into Cream tickets.

Yea,they are pretty reliable, especially the one around here.

robo2448 09-06-2005 07:07 PM

Do you know what time on September 11th the tickets go on sale?

jpj 09-06-2005 07:08 PM

Think the Cream tickets will be as much as they were in London? I'm guessing they will be, sadly.

My mom has an American Express card...
Do you know what time on September 11th the tickets go on sale?
Jack Bruce's website says 9 a.m. on Sept. 12th

Probably. My birthday's September 22nd, so maybe I can persuade my parents to get Cream tickets as a main present. I don't have the money to pay for tickets myself.

Pet Sounds is a good cd. This is the first time I'm giving it a real chance (listening to it all the way through).

Distant Echoes 09-06-2005 07:42 PM

Cream Tix on sale?
More Pink Floyd reunions?
This is the first time this thread has brought me good news!
/hurrys to ticketmaster

On a related note...I cant stand Beach Boys; couldnt withstand pet sounds for more then 5 minutes. way to poppy.

Glitterati 09-06-2005 07:43 PM

I just saw Joni Mitchell get inducted to the Rock n' Roll hall of fame by Graham Nash

It was on Bravo

Lunch 09-06-2005 08:02 PM

The Who - Amazing Journey/Sparks, My Generation, The Real Me
Cream - Tales of Brave Ulysses, Spoonful (Live from WoF), Toad

I can't decide whether I should save up the money for Cream or not.

DeusExMachina 09-06-2005 08:04 PM

Personally, I wouldn't bother saving up for the Cream show. I honestly don't expect it to be any good. I'm sure it'll be cool to see Cream live, but I don't think they'll put on a great show or anything.

Lunch 09-06-2005 08:06 PM

Honestly I thought their London show was pretty damn good.

DeusExMachina 09-06-2005 08:07 PM

Is that so? Well, I didn't see it. Perhaps I'm wrong. It would certainly come as a pleasant surprise.
