and yeah luc it really couldn't hurt. fathers are a touchy subject for me so it gets to me when people don't or refuse to talk to/have a relationship with their father

Yeah there's a lot of bitterness there for me, but like I said if he really starts things off I don't have a problem with it.

Depending on the circumstances I can see why it would seem useless to not want to talk to your dad; fatherhood doesn't necessitate love for the child. Plus the reasons why he wants to get back in contact with you could be really shady. Still, I would at least check shit out to be sure. If you don't want a connection after then don't forge one for the sake of bringing a family together when there's no need to imagine that a family's incomplete.

I know stories like that where the contact between father and child was so obviously just for money. An acquaintance of mine ran away from her mother (her mom sold her out to her boyfriends for crack money), and her mom tried to reconnect with her 2 years later, only to get her to open up the trust her grandmother saved up for her (it wasn't able to be opened until she turned eighteen, which would happen the week after this took place) since her and her boyfriend were being evicted and they wanted to use the money to get a new apartment.

okay well there's honestly nothing like that in fact my dad is doing better than us, he doesn't pay alimony and is only sending 900 a month in child support (for THREE children). He's probably gonna make more money living where he is now too. My mom can only work part time and in fact I'm pretty sure we fall under the poor financial mark.

I was just citing an example. You know his circumstance more than we do, so you ultimately have to make the decision.
