im pissed, i was supposed to be going to see Rick Wakeman March 3rd, he cancelled all of his dates around here but he's reschedueling in June, so hopefully i can go then.

Ive been listening to him all day, i got like 4 more of his albums to keep me busy

NP - Rick Wakeman - Orpheus Song
Were you going to see him in Danbury? I was going to try to get a few friends interested in going to that but I guess I won't now. And could you upload Eric Clapton- Blues Night?

And I'm way late on the 4 questions, but whatever.

1. The Who
2. Highway 61 Revisited
3. Yes
4. U2

zabbit82 02-25-2006 09:17 PM

I'll try my four answers, even tho I'm late.

1. The Rolling Stones or The Who
2. Led Zeppelin II
3. Yeah, they're a instrument used in alot of the classic rock records.
4. None of them are classic rock.

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-25-2006 09:18 PM

i just found out hes having it June 15 now, so ill be going to that

i'm gonna have to convert all of those to Mp3 becuase i have less than a gig left on my hard drive and those flac files will straight up kill my computer

NP - Rick Wakeman - Sir Lancelot and The Black Knight

Broken Arrow 02-25-2006 09:53 PM

Mmmm Chris uploaded The Rocket's (Crazyhorse with extra guys) first album from 1968. It's good to have him back, it was the only blog I downloaded from.

I also found a burned CD I made like a year ago today, it was a cool reflection of my musical taste back than. (Practically the same as now except more Led Zeppelin and The Who)

I had some Canned Heat and QMS on it, it was actually a decent mix..

I discovered a really old CD with a bunch of Van Halen on it a while back...I don't listen to them at all any more. I was big into them about four years ago though.

zabbit82 02-25-2006 10:02 PM

I remember about a 2 years ago this month for a year, I was on a huge Van Halen kick. I remember playing Van Halen I alot of times along with Best of Volume I, just trying to learn some of Eddie's chops, and get my technical guitar skill as far as it could.

Its still great stuff :)

morrison357 02-25-2006 10:27 PM
Its still great stuff
Yea, Van Halen is pretty sweet, I have best of volume 1 on CD and all there studio albums on vinyl. Eruption is the a kick *** song, and hard as hell to play.

MidnightRider 02-25-2006 10:34 PM

I've never been able to get into Van Halen.

I've got a couple of cds that a burned about a year and a half ago that contain only songs by the Goo Goo Dolls and Tonic. They were my favorite bands at the time.

RockAndRoll 02-25-2006 10:37 PM
I've never been able to get into Van Halen.
Same here, I've never really been a fan.

BigTrav415 02-25-2006 10:38 PM

I haven't heard much VH beyond Hot For Teacher, but what an awesome song 'tis.

Today I've listened to Led Zep, Floyd, and ABB. It's been a good day :)

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-25-2006 10:42 PM

today i listened to Wakeman, and a tull song, great day

Seafroggys 02-25-2006 11:00 PM

today I've listened to quite a bit...

Grand Funk, The Who, Metallica, The Beatles, Dire Straits, Iron Butterfly, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and more I just don't remember!

morrison357 02-25-2006 11:09 PM

I've listen to a lot today also:

CSN, Cream, The Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Frank Zappa, Captain Beafheart and His Magic Band, Jethro Tull, and Bob Dylan.

PinkFreud 02-25-2006 11:59 PM

ugh. i have mixes from back during my "transition period." basically it's a bunch of pop-rap, simon and garfunkel, and the beatles. its weird.

i just saw match point. it's excellent, probably one of my favorite movies recently.

today i listened to:
beck, bogert, and appice
cactus
vanilla fudge
django reinhardt
joe bonamassa
rilo kiley
and a bunch more assorted single songs.

also, right now i'm listening to butch walker and loving it. great stuff.

Led-ZeppelinIV 02-26-2006 12:25 AM

I can't even remember all the shit I listened to today.

Leper 02-26-2006 02:38 AM

I just got on the computer for the first time all day, so all I've listened to today is The Beatles- Magical Mystery Tour, and The Fool on the Hill.

Well that's if you don't count all the shitty bar music I heard tonight.

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-26-2006 08:53 AM

Anybody want me to send out some Wakeman? (anybody who hasnt heard him should download these)

NP - Rick Wakeman - Sir Lancelot and The Black Knight

I wish he didnt postpone his dates :(

n00bguitarist 02-26-2006 09:19 AM

So far today I listened to Boston and Floyd.

jpj 02-26-2006 09:29 AM

Yesterday I listened to Motorhead, Mickey Hart, Sly & The Family Stone, MMW, ELP, some classical music, and some stuff I might be forgetting. All I've listened to today is Ulver.

If I had a last.fm it would look so weird.

robo2448 02-26-2006 09:53 AM

Hmm I don't know if I can remember everything but I listened to a bunch of stuff yesterday. Lots Canned Heat, and some Doors, Traffic, Kinks, Velvet Underground, Richie Havens, Allman Brothers and Yes. But the only full album I listened to was Canned Heat. Right now I'm converting this MMW to iTunes because it's in WMA.

Edit- I think that Van Halen are classic rock though they could also be considered just hard rock or hair metal. But no I don't like them and I've never liked them. In fact, I kind of hate them. I have deep hatred for almost all hair metal (sorry spatoutplath).

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 02-26-2006 09:56 AM

Van Halen: Not classic rock and also not very good.
1. What artist that you feel is the best example of classic rock?
2. What album do you think is the best example of classic rock?
3. Would you consider the Keyboards a typical instrument for classic rock?
4. Are the following bands classic rock: Guns N Roses, U2, Iron Maiden, Metallica.
I'm a little late on this but I'll do it anyway:

1. Hard question, I really don't believe any one band could be the best example but if I had to choose one I'd probably pick the Allman Brothers.

2. I'd go with the White Album. It shows almost all sides of Classic Rock Hard-Blues, Folk, Beach Boys sounding pop song, love songs, beautiful ballads, unstructured psychedelia, and even gives us a glimpse at what's about to come with a Metal song. In terms of diversity and creativness, it's what Classic Rock is all about.

3. Sure, why not? Yes...

4. No to all of them. Besides U2, they're all Metal bands and U2 doesn't fit the classification of Classic Rock. (*classification of Classic Rock see below)

* Classic Rock is a highly diverse classification of Rock made from 1964 to 1974. It ranges from Hard Rock, Pop Rock, Country Rock, Psychedelia, Blues Rock, Funk, Jazz Fusion, Progressive..etc. As you can see you don't need any one specific sound or structure to be classified as Classic Rock which is why Classic Rock cannot be considered a genre.
Anybody want me to send out some Wakeman? (anybody who hasnt heard him should download these)
Yea, if you have the Six Wives of Henry the VIII (or whatever it's called) I would like that a lot.

Edit: Or Journey to the Centre of the Earth.

MidnightRider 02-26-2006 11:04 AM
Anybody want me to send out some Wakeman? (anybody who hasnt heard him should download these)
Sure man, go ahead.

So far today I've listened to Radiohead, Porcupine Tree, and The Grateful Dead.

Jacaran 02-26-2006 11:44 AM

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-26-2006 12:10 PM

That's awesome WelcometotheMachine, thanks.

TheDMV 02-26-2006 12:17 PM

Hey, that's a lot of cheesy, over-the-top keyboarding. :p

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-26-2006 12:26 PM

yeah some of the albums are very poppy and cheesey but the good ones (Henry, Journey, King Arthur) are awesome.

NP - Rick Wakeman - The Battle/The Forest (best part of Journey)

temporary 02-26-2006 12:32 PM

The Wakeman should be an interesting listen, I haven't heard any of his solo stuff.

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-26-2006 12:52 PM

Thsi may seem like an odd question but does anyone know of a list that has all programs involved with Itunes?

robo2448 02-26-2006 02:02 PM

1 Red Hot Chili Peppers 29

6 Miles Davis 12
7 Richie Havens 9
7 Pink Floyd 9
9 The Blues Brothers 7

Pretty sweet week.

And sorry WttM, I'm not good with iTunes. I just downloaded the plugin, and then to make sure it's working, open iTunes, go to the visualizer tab, and make sure iScrobbler is checked. That's all I know, but last.fm seems like it's actually been working really well for me the last couple weeks.

JonG 02-26-2006 02:04 PM

Ugh, I haven't been home since Friday. I don't feel like reading all the pages.

Although, that record store has a sweet name. Great album.

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-26-2006 02:06 PM

there is no Iscrobbler tab, thats whats weird, i went into prgram files too and everything there taht should be

My post is the most important :D

So I'm completely diggin' Let It Be Naked. I never really listened to the original Let It Be, but all of these songs are pretty awesome. I think I'm gonna get the original one now.

I also downloaded a few Beatlejazz albums my dad was telling me about. They're like a modern jazz group who play their versions of Beatles' songs. It's pretty cool, although it's more mellow than faster stuff, like some of Coltrane's for instance.

NP: Across The Universe

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-26-2006 02:28 PM

4 of the Wakeman albums just finished but the YSI links arent loading

:(

NP - Rick Wakeman - White Rock
