You can buy tickets on ebay for $1,000 bucks each.

Yeah, that's not happening. I definitely can't afford that. But, it would've been so awesome if I'd gotten tickets, because the Stones are coming to town 3 or 4 days before my birthday, and McCartney (who I did get tickets to) is coming the day after my birthday.

Freshmen girls in HS are always creepily clingy and desperate...that was unpleasant.

In college, freshmen girls are all good.

I don't call female stalkers "stalkers", I call them "admirers" :)

Way to use those rose-colored glasses

Speaking of stalkers, are you going to see Paul McCarteny in Boston?
I'm guessing you'll prolly be in college by then (or now)
^^ The beatles were just poppy crap , , im just kidding , like i said , i like beatles better.
I used to say stuff like that when I was a Zeppelin fanboy because I was spiteful towards the Beatles.

As for the Dylan and Beatle albums discussion a few pages back (I just got home from work, so I'm catching up) I'd say Blood on the Tracks and Magical Mystery Tour are my favourites, with Abbey Road and Blonde on Blonde in second. I still can't believe how many people here don't like Dylan and the Dead!

I tabbed out the song In the Flesh? to teach one of my students, and I forgot it at home! So I just made him do boring stuff (heh heh). Other than that I can't think of any other classic rock-related songs I taught anyone. I taught one student how to play Liberty, Badmoon and Walrus Gumboot might know that one.

DeusExMachina 09-05-2005 09:10 PM

I somehow missed this "favorite Dylan favorite Beatles" thing. My favorite Dylan album is Bringing it all Back Home. Favorite Beatles album is either MMT or Abbey Road.

Hey...

shut up.

Plus I don't consider them "stalkers" because they aren't very creepy, you know?

I have already moved back into college, so no I won't.

Yeah, especially when they try to show off their new bass which is stung wrong and get pwned by various other male friends

What's this now?

I'm planning on getting a bass, can anyone recommend a good fretless (ideally five string, but four is not a problem) for under $600? Before someone tells me to go to the bass forums, I already did. But I want more (i.e. better) feedback.

 123.............if i had any :upset:

not to go against the grain and start a new discussion or anything, but does anyone like The Band? I've had 'The Last Waltz' DVD for a few years as well as the 4 disc set. I haven't found a song of theirs that I don't like, but I really like 'Ophelia' and 'Stagefright'.

DeusExMachina 09-05-2005 09:23 PM

Didn't The Band do the soundtrack for Easy Rider? If so, they rock.

I know they've got at least one song in there (my stupid brother had to take it to college with him, now I can't check).

Oh, it's just a bluegrassy song. I thought you mighta heard of it.

And towards the bass question....seriously, just go to the store and see what they have. I wouldn't buy, or even consider buying a guitar I've never played. But to get a quality five string fretless that you actually like for under $600 (are you talking American dollars?) will probably take some searching.

My little sister's ex-boyfriend was trying to impress me with his new bass, but he made one fatal error; he strung it BEAD instead of EADG and got laughed at by the ukulele crew that I happened to be hanging out with that study hall. We used to have the funniest jams in that study hall

My sister has a Stagg 4-String fretless that she is pretty happy with,

Ya see that's were I totally ****ed up. I was in my Science class one time and everyone was making fun of her and I was just being a nice guy tried to work with her when no-one else would. A week latter she asks me out. WTF?! I only knew her for an hour.

So the leason I learned was to never be nice guy. Ever.

Well, what I intended to do was go to guitar center and try them out, and then see if I could get a deal on musicianfriends.com. However, I like to do research beforehand, as I'm really too busy at this point to spend too much time at guitar center. Especially since it's far away. So, I was just looking for suggestions.

Walrus Gumboot, thanks for the link, but I didn't see the bass. Where again is it?

I dunno if you know this or not but musiciansfriend owns GC.

Are you sure? Because musiciansfriend seems a bit smaller than GC to me. Also, musiciansfriend seems to have much better deals than GC.

Also, to WG, I found the bass (I think). Thanks again for the link.

Edit: Well I'll be danmed. It appears that musiciansfriend does own GC. You learn something new every day.

I found it surprising also, but I generally don't deal with big corporations anyway* so it wasn't a big deal.

Don't go to Guitar Center!

Come to Chuck Levins, it's off of Viers Mill road.

Ok. I'm still a Bethesda noob, so I don't know where that is. But I'm sure mapquest is my friend. Or my dad, who knows the entire geography of this place somehow. Do you know if Southworth Guitars has anything that's like, less than 5000 dollars? Seriously, that place is ridiculous.

Good idea. I'm not gonna lie, I know dick all about bass guitars. I can play them quite well (as any decent guitarist can), but that's where my knowledge stops.

Yeah, same. Actually, what I was strongly considering doing was getting a fretless bass guitar and tuning it to CGDA, so I could have like a cello bass guitar hybrid thing. That would be awesome, and would probably help with my cello playing, since it's a lot easier to play a guitar (or bass guitar) in bed at night than it is to play a cello in bed at night.

Has anyone heard any material from the 60's Psychedelic rock band July? I have "Second of July" and it really blew me away, although they only lasted for a few years in the late 60's, (some members going on to form the progressive rock outfit Jade Warrior) I am interested to know why these guys arn't so well known, both the music and lyrics are so awesome and extremely trippy.

And yes, I listen to Little Stephen's Underground Garage every once in a while.

Deus, I hear Brice basses have a whole lotta bang for the buck. Check them out at www.rondomusic.com

The Stones have a lot of songs that are better than Wild Horses, IMO.

MBS 09-06-2005 01:35 PM

is #1! Robo?

Guess friggen what?

I just learned that my cousin who went to UCSD took a Beatles course... and guess who was an honorary professor for a couple of days?

Ravi Shankar!

I thought that was pretty cool.

Illmatic 09-06-2005 01:36 PM

Gimme Shelter
Sympathy For the Devil
Honky Tonk Women
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Love In Vain
Salt of the Earth
Tumbling Dice
No Expectations
Street Fighting Man
Torn and Frayed

Are all better than Wild Horses.

There are usually more but it depends on what mood I'm in.

edit: wpah, I thought Ravi Shankar was dead. That's pretty cool
