I feel the exact same way about his solo career (though I love Mabye I'm Amazed). Though I liked Chaos and Creation I would give it a chance if I were you he really supprised me on this album.
Sounds like a good idea. I'll give it a shot. I saw him on the Ellen show for it and the one song he did was passable.

I may upload it tomorrow for you and Blue3.

blue3 01-27-2006 12:35 AM

If you do, thanks. Need our emails?

Leper 01-27-2006 01:00 AM

Hey for once it wasn't me bumping this thread. Great write-up on Revolver MBS. I laughed when I read your I'm Only Sleeping review...Mystical powers of IMO hahaha. But really, how can you think that's a weaker track!?

Seafroggys 01-27-2006 01:08 AM
Definitely agree. I've never understood the appeal of a lot of that album.

I generally prefer the second half of Abbey Road for consistency, but I feel that the best tracks (Here Comes the Sun, Something) are on the first half.
Too bad Here Comes the SUn is on side 2 :D

magicbus 01-27-2006 01:10 AM

I like all of Abbey Road, but the White Album is where I start skipping stuff. I can do the first disc, but when it gets to the second, there's a lot I pass over. In fact, I don't listen to the second disc much at all.

Leper 01-27-2006 01:19 AM

I really need to get the White Album on CD. It's very inconvenient for listening purposes to only have it on vinyl.

Seafroggys 01-27-2006 02:02 AM

What? No Yer Blues, Sexy Sadie, Helter Skelter?

Hell, even Monkey, Savoy Truffle are pretty good.

El_Goodo 01-27-2006 02:23 AM

The only songs I consider fillers on the white album are Savory Truffle, and Wild Honey Pie.

My favourties of that album are Honey Pie (that song is catchy as hell), Helter Skelter, Revolution 1 (Although I prefer the single version), and Happiness Is A Warm Gun.

plaidbassbilly 01-27-2006 03:12 AM

Yesterday I purchased the "Beatles Box" vinyl collection from a record store for $40 Australian, which is about $30 US. I think I got a good deal, just wondering what other people think.

n00bguitarist 01-27-2006 07:13 AM
I'll second that. The White Album has this in common with The Wall, that both contain brilliant songwriting and music, interspersed with boring fluff and filler.

You know what's awesome...I burned Sgt. Pepper and MMT onto one CD (because they're that short!) with a long pause in between, so I can just pop it in for one 80 minute experience of musical bliss. (my dad owns the albums and when I left for college I was copying a lot of his CDs) I love it.
There's no way you can compare the two; they're totally different. The Wall has a concept, and without some songs, the story wouldn't flow.

I've always like Wild Honey Pie
Some say that Revolution 9 was a waste of time, but I think John spent more time on that that alot of other things on the album.

My sister showed me a picture of Paul's son James, and he is really terrifying. Which Beatle child do you think looks the most like their father? I think Dhani Harrison and Sean Lennon are almost dead-on

Sean Lennon

James McCartney

Dhani Harrison:

Zak Starkey

plaidbassbilly 01-27-2006 09:43 AM

James McCartney = holy crap! And Dhani Harrison is a deadringer for his father.

I like Yer Blues, Mother Nature's Son, Helter Skelter, and I guess Sexy Sadie. Other than that I'm not really diggin' disc 2.

Jacaranda 01-27-2006 12:01 PM

Essentialy filler... look at Tommy, perfect album and has no filler what so ever, and if anything could be considered filler its one of those 40 secound songs. Not a 10 hour song like on the Wall.

Pauls son looks like a fatter version of him. Dhani has his fathers like face, but a way different nose. Zak doesn't resemble Ringo at all. Sean looks like his dad.

Leper 01-28-2006 01:13 AM

What's so scary about James McCartney? Like Jac said, he just looks like a fatter version of Paul.

PinkFloydFan082692 01-28-2006 01:16 AM

I own ALL of the Beatles albums, they're cool, but I like the later stuff better because it's about phychadelic euphoria and LSD's instead of girls, my favorite album is either MMT, SPLHCB, LIB, or AR

Leper 01-28-2006 01:21 AM

You don't like girls?

PinkFloydFan082692 01-28-2006 01:24 AM
You don't like girls?
no, no, no, I do, I just don't like the fact that every band has to, at some point in their career, write songs of romance. Besides, I think it gets rid of some of their masculinity

Jacaranda 01-28-2006 01:26 AM
You don't like girls?
A what?

Uh, ya... so many LSD's songs...

... ATTN: Bad ass online alert.

Wow, so your telling me songs like Lovely Rita aren't about romance?

No wait your right. Drugs are the only thing people should write about.

PinkFloydFan082692 01-28-2006 01:27 AM

well, you get the point I'm getting across, peace and hippie-ish.

which beatle is your favourite, mine is paul

That's true, I have a book about them (like I said, I'm a big fan), and they actually worked in the same room at the same time then, later on, they were just drifting slowly. DA#N YOU, YOKO

Hehe I knew what you meant, I just felt like messing with ya.:p

My favourite is John, but the more I read/hear about George, the closer he comes to being my favourite.

Well nothing revitalizes you quite as well as some good Beatles discussion!

(Whoring the Beatles thread because I'm getting tired of bumping it.)

PinkFloydFan082692 01-28-2006 01:43 AM

yeah, I have all their cd's, three shirts( one SP, one AR, and one of paul mccartney) and a book about them and unseen photos, AND, an AR poster, which is where I'll visit someday

Leper 01-28-2006 01:53 AM

I have nearly all their albums (all post Help excluding Yellow Submarine) two t-shirts, one poster (Let it Be), and two books (Anthology and a Life magazine special on John Lennon).

PinkFloydFan082692 01-28-2006 01:56 AM

cool, but I'm gonna crash, I'll return tomorrow.

you are an idiot, and don't know much about the Beatles, or music in general.

"peace and hippy-ness?" what the hell does that mean?

And it was not Yoko's fault, how often do I have to tell people this.....and if yuo're such a Beatles fan, and having read the books, you'd know it wasn't Yoko's fault.

Hey you get out of my mind.

He's the biggest fan I've ever seen he even has a book. *ohhs and ahhs*

Sorry but that guy was just asking for it... and from his other posts I've seen he needs to leave.

gmoneyguy 01-28-2006 02:12 AM

they broke up due to animosity & creative differences

go easy on him

Could it be possible that he was joking about the Yoko comment?

This is the most hostility I've seen in this thread in a while. Lets simma down fellas.

Well lets pretend he included a "lol" in there for the sake of getting along.:)

There aren't many things more dangerous in this world than a riled up Jacaranda.

TheGoat 01-28-2006 10:06 AM

So Yoko had not even a bit of fault in the Beatles break-up? Others members didnt like Yoko involvement in the sessions. Anyways can someone clear me that up. I know that Yoko wanst the main reason of the split, but i always thought she had some involvement.

Also anyone can recomend great Beatles webpages, there are so many=\.
