Yeah that's about how I am with them. Take them or leave them. I much prefer cheesy power metal though. Roy does have one of the best voices in music I have to say.

Riva 06-01-2006 06:48 PM

Have you ever heard Galloglass or Lost Horizon, Anthony?

Tyler 06-01-2006 06:48 PM

I love Galloglass and Lost Horizon. I know you didn't ask me, but whatever.

Nepenthe 06-01-2006 06:51 PM

I love Lost Horizon, Highlander is one of my favorite songs ever. Galloglass I'm not too familiar with, but I've listened through Legends From Now And Nevermore once or twice.

Riva 06-01-2006 06:52 PM

Oh good. You two are now my best friends. :)

Shattered_Future 06-01-2006 07:14 PM

Awakening The World is one of the coolest albums ever, I must say. And you already know my position on Galloglass.

Nepenthe 06-01-2006 07:16 PM

I prefer Flame To The Ground Beneath. It's just overall more polished imo.

Tyler 06-01-2006 07:19 PM
I prefer Flame To The Ground Beneath. It's just overall more polished imo.
Same. Plus it has a sillier album cover.

Truth.

Tyler 06-01-2006 07:26 PM

The main riff in "Think Not Forever" is also in a CoB song, not sure which. Who stole it from who?

Steerpike 06-01-2006 11:05 PM

Well, if someone could find the song, that would be great because I know the riffs to Think Not Forever and we can see for certain.

Tyler 06-01-2006 11:12 PM

Let me listen to whatever CoB I have on here, I know I've heard it in one of their songs.

This is pissing me off, I can't find it, but I know I've heard it somewhere else because when I first got that album (Lost Horizon) was like "I know this riff".

Riva 06-02-2006 12:25 AM

I believe that six men in a vortex is not sillier than four men marching in the sky about zombies.

You'll also find that Lost Horizon aren't the likely thieves of the riff.

Nepenthe 06-02-2006 12:28 AM

Lost Horizon are too pure to steal.

ACircuitShock 06-02-2006 12:42 AM

Kamelot is coming here in October with Epica. I'm pretty stoked.Though what happens in November beats them... BLIND GUARDIAN!! Man I am so stoked for that. BG in Seattle, whoda thunk.

Josh 06-02-2006 03:12 AM

my favourite Lost Horizon song has to be Think Not Forever, i just love it so much. but A Flame To The Ground Beneath and Awakening The World are awesome albums. i should probably buy them, so i have real copies :p

Galloglass's Legends From Now And Nevermore is also great, i love the fiddle parts :)

and i'm about to try and get Kamelot - The Fourth Legacy from the Daily Upload, except megaupload is being gay and not working, so i may have to get it later.

shadow_stalker 06-02-2006 10:37 AM
Galloglass's Legends From Now And Nevermore is also great, i love to fiddle with Ollie's parts :)
fixed

anyhow Galloglass are one of my favourite bands ever (as are lost horizon), i keep meaning to get another kamelot album as i only have the balck halo, but have never got round it it

shadow_stalker 06-04-2006 07:34 AM

soooooo thread is dying abit.

someone suggest some obscure power metal bands for me to listen to

MetalOz 06-04-2006 07:39 AM

Ok, have you heard of Avian?
Guitarist Yan Leviathan has assembled quite a slew of musicians for this new power metal force known as Avian. Bassist Dave Ellefson lends a production hand and his decades of playing to the cause, also corralling his F5 drummer David Small. The vocalist would be former Balance Of Power/current Pyramaze talent Lance King, with supplemental keyboard wizardry from his band mate Jonah Weingarten.

shadow_stalker 06-04-2006 08:02 AM

havnt heard them but i will check them out now.

also thinking of ordering Agra's rebirth album

ExitWound 06-04-2006 08:31 AM

I've come across a new band from Finland. They're not exactly power metal. They're more Rock n Roll, but they're incredible! They're my latest find that matches my oh so strict tastes for music. I'm sure you've heard of them if you're up on music headlines. They are:

Lordi
http://www.lordi.org for a few samples and videos.

Stoic 06-04-2006 08:42 AM

Heh, the Eurovision contest winners. They were EVERYWHERE a few days ago.

Txus 06-04-2006 08:49 AM

I found a really cool PM band from Central America (Guatemala) they're called Andromeda. I'll be sending their album to the Daily..THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING! :D

Stoic 06-04-2006 08:52 AM

The only Andromeda I know are swedish prog metal! I should start paying attention to the daily upload I suppose.

Txus 06-04-2006 08:55 AM

You really should, these guys aren't like the other Andromeda (Who I dearly love)....but these Andromeda a really good, the album is really short though but every song is great. I'm uploading it at the moment :)

Stormrider 06-04-2006 09:09 AM

I wouls sign up to the Daily Upload. But, everytime I rip an album to my computer...the songs don't play :-/ Stoic knows of this when I tried sending him something :p

Lord Abortion 06-04-2006 10:28 AM

/Avoids getting angry again at the lack of local BG ness.

Stormrider 06-04-2006 12:50 PM

You're still going to go let's hope :)

Wait, you are talking about Blind Guardian, right ?

shadow_stalker 06-05-2006 09:14 AM
/Avoids getting angry again at the lack of local BG ness.
you mean BG gigs in our area or just general talk in this thread?

im kind of forcing myself to like them, ive had nightfall in middle earth on a consant repeat for awhile now and its either getting better or driving me insane

I'll lend you Live...it makes the songs better.
Nah, They are only playing London and Dublin on this tour, so our luck is really out, unless 13th day is on this year and they play that.

shadow_stalker 06-05-2006 12:22 PM

a mate from world of warcraft keeps telling me to get the galss prison by dream theatre

anyone know if it is worth it?

Heh, it's awesome but in no way PM.
I'm a huge fanboy as you probably know.

They have much much better songs, he's probably some kiddy that doesn't know the rest of their stuff:p

I'll lend you the album it's off, if you want.

reidster90 06-05-2006 12:45 PM

hammerfall

i like dragons and magic

MetalOz 06-05-2006 12:49 PM

In case you hadn't checked out the thread, the new songwriting competion's theme is 'Swords & Sorcery' which of course would most properly be interpreted through some extra cheesy power metal... I'm trying to drum up some participation!

Stormrider 06-05-2006 01:18 PM

Ah, man, shame you don't like Nightfall in Middle Earth, shadow Stalker. Hopefully it will grow on you. It doesn't seem likely right now :p

Been listening to lots of BG and D&W lately \m/

Like Ollie said, not PM in the least, but it's quite good. I rather like it...one of my favorites by the band.

Steerpike 06-05-2006 01:40 PM

This really sucks that this months competition theme is Sword and Sorcery and I have no way to record anything I write. Why has all that is divine forsaken me is a potential moment of glory?

Shattered_Future 06-05-2006 01:41 PM
This really sucks that this months competition theme is Sword and Sorcery and I have no way to record anything I write. Why has all that is divine forsaken me is a potential moment of glory?
God works in mysterious ways.

(READ: God really just took a huge, steaming **** on you, didn't he?)

Steerpike 06-05-2006 01:43 PM

I came to the conclusion long ago that god is a total cuntsponge. That's why I don't go to churches anymore. I just burn them and pillage the town.

Shattered_Future 06-05-2006 01:50 PM

Which, in retrospect, isn't that bad. You get to burn stuff, AND steal items from people.
