rock not rolll 08-26-2004 02:01 PM

Hard rock. I don't detect a ton of blues in their music.

Paranoidd 08-26-2004 04:01 PM

^^^^

Theres lot of blues. At least in the early stuff. Alot of country music influences too.

rock not rolll 08-26-2004 04:02 PM

k then

Badmoon 08-26-2004 04:09 PM

Country Rock > Blues Rock

in my opinion.

Steve Earle is country rock ;) He's god.

:chug:

I don't really care which is better. They're both great.

Paranoidd 08-26-2004 04:30 PM

Hydro > Cess

IMO.

Creedence Clearwater 08-26-2004 05:32 PM
Country Rock > Blues Rock
IMO: Blues Rock > Country Rock

Badmoon 08-26-2004 05:42 PM

That's funny, because you have a Bob Dylan avatar and a CCR username. Both more Country Rock than anything else.

Against Miik! 08-26-2004 05:50 PM

What kind of bands are we classifying as country rock?

Countdown to Allmans...2 days

themightyquinn23 08-26-2004 06:11 PM

A lot of the Eagles pre-Hotel California work was country rock. I normally can't stand country, but there are some exceptions.

Creedence Clearwater 08-26-2004 06:29 PM
That's funny, because you have a Bob Dylan avatar and a CCR username. Both more Country Rock than anything else.
if i could have a cool robert johnson avatar I would, though no one would recognise him. As for CCR, I think there are elements of both, i have heard the term "swamp rock". Bob dylan i say if folk rock, although to classify is only to degrade.
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

o and for u classic rock fans, the crime of the new century was that the Yardbirds new CD, Birdland, recieved no attention at all. that deserved a grammy, or 6.

so are there any other classic rock fans out there, and even if ur not, have u been noticing somewhat of a revival in interest for that sort of music?
i agree once a few people in my school started listining to the cloassics many other people started noticing it but most of the songs they know are only upstream. but there has been a definite growth in the popularity in classic rock lately :chug:

thelizardkingcc 08-26-2004 07:39 PM

hey does anyone else here feel out of place since its rock and metal? i think metal should have its own category.

Badmoon 08-26-2004 07:51 PM

When I joined this forum (May 2003), this board has renued my hate for Metal.

Joe 08-26-2004 07:53 PM

you suck

themightyquinn23 08-26-2004 07:54 PM

I think the line between rock and metal in this forum is expanding. I think they should have separate categories, like the punk forum.
What kind of bands are we classifying as country rock?

Most of The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, The Eagles, The Byrds, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Buffalo Sprinfield, Neil Young, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Country Joe and The Fish, CCR, some Allman Brothers, and Elvis Presley.

Obviously those are highlights, and I wouldn't be surprised if most of you didn't know a few. Well, that easily shows how underrated Country-Rock is.

You lose MX.

themightyquinn23 08-26-2004 07:57 PM

All this talk about country rock and blues rock has dragged on, let's talk about jazz rock. Great music IMO.

Badmoon 08-26-2004 08:00 PM

Jazz Rock is kind of rare, especially strait up Jazz Rock.

themightyquinn23 08-26-2004 08:02 PM

^^Which is why Steely Dan is so great.

RockAndRoll 08-26-2004 09:17 PM

steely dan is awesome. They're great musicians. Speaking of country joe and the fish can anyone reccomend any of his stuff? All I've seen of them is at woodstock.

Badmoon 08-26-2004 09:32 PM

Badmoon 08-26-2004 09:33 PM

Tommy + Jesus Christ superstar > all

RockAndRoll 08-26-2004 09:42 PM
"Feel like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag"
It's like all of the idiot elitist(sp) death metal idiots get together in one place. But you have to look past them ;)

Badmoon 08-26-2004 09:50 PM

"Janis"

Now keep in mind, his live stuff is sooo much different than some of his recorded stuff.

Badmoon 08-26-2004 09:52 PM

No, RockandRoll's askin' for good Country joe songs.

EDIT: Great, now you've made me look like the irrelevant idiot

rock not rolll 08-26-2004 09:52 PM
I have came to this conclusion

Makes sense to me.

Forgive my nonsmartingness (I can't spell ignorance) but who or what is Country joe?

edit:w00t

Badmoon 08-26-2004 09:54 PM

Country Joe Mcdonald and The Fish, he's a Folk/Psychedelia artist, he's from the 60's San Fransico scene.
