loading times can really fuck up the pace of an otherwise good game. like chrono trigger and ffVI ports on psx. you would think it would take a lot to ruin the two best games on snes but the long loading times completely ruin them |

decided to read some more of this burroughs bio. already 50 pages in. i'm trying to start reading more again. i want to finish this book then read a jim carroll novel (his only one) that i got recently. idk how good it will be though cause the other stuff i have read by him was more of a journal/confessional style (basketball diaries and forced entries) or poetry. the jim carroll band is okay basically just him reading his poetry over rock music.
|
you dont know about william s burroughs
|
you ever tried honey on pizzza steve
|
i've read naked lunch. it frustrated me at first because it doesn't have a plot but then i realized that you are just supposed to keep reading and process the bits of imagery and scenes. it's more just an idea than a novel. idk it's hard to explain but it's interesting and very unique
|
read nova trilogy itss devastating
haz said naked lunch is beyond his skill level |
he's probably trying to understand it completely. you just have to give up on that and just read it through. it comes together the way it's supposed to if you do that. you just have to accept there really is no order to it and it's just a series of ideas and images.
|
i tried to explain that to him he says it impossible and the film is great
anyways i gotta go to bed got so much really important stuff to do tomorrw |
why is Alex banned

I didn't find it a very engaging read at all, Burrough's essay about his experience with drugs which was included in the edition I had however was something i'll never forget. I prefer a straightforward story or non-fiction over cut and paste jibber jabber that is supposed to read as imagery, that is all. That is not to say I can't enjoy this style of writing, I found The Illuminatus Trilogy great. I just found little of value in Naked Lunch, I took in every word and just found it messy and boring. I prefer a visual experience for that kind of psychedelic, twisted narrative (hence why I liked Cronenberg's film, which managed to adapt much of that confusion whilst touching on Burrough's life as well, I like biographical and semi-biographical themes), this is not to say I never find reading that way appealing though. |
also blockhead a comprehensive Burroughs documentary called A Man Within just came out recently, might be worth watching after you finish that biography.

He posted porn in the Attractive Girls Thread.

I figured what alex was saying wasn't an accurate representation of what you thought. The bio is called Gentleman Junkie: The life and legacy of William S. Burroughs |
