^^ yea , that is true.
Edit : i meant lunches comment. |
Yea, it's embarassing how we didn't seem prepared for this at all.
Don't you love how Bush is pushing to get another supreme court justice in before the next congressional elections? Skeezy basted got all of his photo-ops as far away from the Superdome as possible. He could visit the troops in Iraq of course, but he's afraid of his fellow Americans |
Probably only really to canadians though.
Just because I'm quebecois, which hardly makes me canadian, doesn't give you a hall pass for racism! Bob Dylan wouldn't want you making fun of dead hurricane victims, but i might be right that led zepplin would not want it either :( |
During Sept. 11th, ClearChannel made a list of songs to avoid playing due to the sensitivity of the issue at hand. WHat do you think would be on that list today?
I think: Like a Hurricane When the Levee Breaks
Hurricane A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall Ain't Got No Home Blowin' In the Wind Down In the Flood Gimme Shelter Hurricane Eye Let It Rain Mother Nature's Son My City of Ruins My Hometown Simple Twist of Fate The Wind Cries Mary Walk Out in the Rain Whirlwind Some of these suck, but some are pretty good. Edit- Just so everyone knows, I'm not making fun of the matter. I think Bush should be impeached for taking a 5 week vacation and not sending help right a way. It's terrible, the city will never be the same. |
Kanye!!
If it happened in Florida, it would have been different. I loved the look on Meyers's face when that happened :p EDIT: Smoke on the Water |
The sad thing is, here in Canada (front page news even) there are stories about all the people who went down to New Orleans on vacation and are trapped there now. I guess sad has double meanings here, because why on Earth would you decide to take a vacation to a place when you know it's gonna have like a huge hurricane. Surely they didn't just decide to drive to New Orleans one day without even like looking on the Internet for resorts or hotels or restaurants or anything. Plus it's not like they wouldn't have money to transport them safely away once they did find out the hurricane was coming...they had to go home eventually.
Darn, Dark Star just ended. I'm gonna go have a shower, it's nearing suppertime and I like to be clean when I eat supper. I'm still in my boxers. I'm sure I'm not the only one though. |

And the best I could do was Singing in the Rain! I thought hard about it for like five minutes, I even checked all the songs on my computer (obviously not well enough, because I have almost all those songs). Wait, I got one. I searched through all my Winzip albums....would Run For Your Life be reasonable? |
Magicbus, did you catch Live Rust in other music?
No, but I'll get it now. Thanks :thumb: |

I think banning songs in general is dumb.
|
Kanye!!
Edit: With all due respect, I don't think you're very close to the truth. if you're going to blame anyone for what's happened in NO, blame the Louisiana authorities.
Or FEMA, who turned away fresh water from Wal Mart, fan boats from Florida and Gasoline from some source when people were in need of them, for reasons yet to be explained I wouldn't ever Blame Bush directly, as some of my fellow Americans are doing. I actually got a chain mail letter asking me to sign a petition "to make Bush reduce the oil prices". Ugh. |
I think banning songs in general is dumb.
Unless of course the song is by any of those devil worshipping, law breaking, hip swinging Rock n Rollers.......like Jerry Lee Lewis! edit- ^^ about this whole oil business and such...I got an email saying September 1st was National Don't By Any Gas Day, because they thought it would **** up all the oil companies or something. Either way, I forgot about it and filled up my car that day, and then my mom made me go fill hers up too. Oh well. |
To be honest, I think Bush is given way too much criticism. When he does stuff wrong, it's fair to criticize, but people jump on him if ANYTHING goes wrong, and a lot of it isn't his fault. Also, the fact that he's a conservative doesn't make conservative opinions wrong. Openmindedness involves also being able to accept opinions you don't agree with.

That's absolutely right. |
True, but he still makes too many mistakes I thnk the be worhty of president. Todays a good example, he said "the relief effort in new Orleans is unacceptable". Whos he trying to blame? But aside from even a blame game, its a nationwide thing, and everybody saw disaster coming, on any scale. Most of it is his fault - including a few years ago they tried to pass adequate funding to restore the New Orlean Levees. Guess who denied that? Mr. Bush.
Overcritisized - yes Worthy of pres. - yes ****, even I gave into this political speech in the classic rock thread... So i just downloaded Live Rust. Cant wait to hear it! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: |
Actually Bush could reduce the price of oil, but it will involve increasing taxes again and people would get mad again.
Bush couldn't, but congress could I don't see Bush as the one to blame as much as the posterboy for a crooked administation |
Blowin' In the Wind
But really, there's no bad time for that song. np: Grateful Dead - Loose Lucy. I'm finally beginning to slowly get into these guys.
Unless of course the song is by any of those devil worshipping, law breaking, hip swinging Rock n Rollers.......like Jerry Lee Lewis!
 But seriously, Great Balls Of Fire is a cool song. |

Banning songs is the worst sin ever on this Earth. Actually that applies to art in general.
And even though I dislike Bush with a passion, he's not always at fault to everything. Blame must be redirected to Secretary of State, Congress, the Courts, Attorney General, lobbying groups, etc. |
jerry lee lewis is a classically trained musician, of course his work will be great

Love 'em. The first songs i was introduced to as a drummer by my drum teacher.. So naturally i'm stuck to it. Recently discovered the joys of Aerosmith
|
I never really got into the Dead. I respect them for their contributions to music, but I can only take them in small doses. Maybe I should just listen to them more.

Name one person in this thread who thinks Garcia is the highest form of human existance....or even the highest form of musician. I like Garcia, he's an all around cool guy, and good musician. But I could name about two dozen people I would bow to before bowing to Garcia. |
