Yeah I listened to Everybody Knows This is Nowhere about an hour ago....I think that's my favourite album of his. |
I like his both his solo work and with Crosby, Stills and Nash, terrific songwriter. I was listening to the album "Comes A Time" not so long ago, its a solid record though one of my favourite of his songs would have to be Ohio, nice track that.
|
I like Neil Young, and definitely like his work in CSNY. I'm not as big a fan of Crosby Stills and Nash without Young though. It's good, but what I've heard of it doesn't strike me as amazing.

I'm serious though, don't about half the noobs in this thread come in and say
Yea, CR is kewl, especially to do weed too :smoke:

I was actully high when I wrote that too. Maybe because Pink Floyd happens to belong to this classification of highly diverse music. :) Random: A few days ago my BCIS teacher let us play Hot Rats (because she's into nstrumental Jazz) and it's probablly the first time a teacher has ever played a Frank Zappa album to a class room. I'm glad I could be a part of it. :) |
Nah, I had a teacher who played Hot Rats too, actually. It was the first time I heard Zappa.
It was in a music class though, not like in the middle of physics or anything, |

My dad, while in college, saw a ballet version of Tommy. /internet |

its fairly accessible, not too weird, and shows off his bands awesome technical talent.
|
It also shows Frank's skill on the guitar. A lot of people don't know how good of a player he was.
|
It was his first solo project that prooved Zappa wasn't just a freak with a freakish band to match. It showed his skills as a composer rather than his off color lyrics just a really great album here. :)
NP: Willie the Pimp - Frank Zappa |
Wasn't he listed as like 70 something in Rolling Stones greatest guitarists list?
My dad and I were laughing at how bad the list was. |
the fact that joan jett was on it at all completely discredited it. haha.
|
Kurt Cobain was like in the top 10.
Was Jeff Beck on it? What was he? |
Kurt Cobain?
He said himself he was sloppy  np: Beach Boys - Good Vibrations |

The list is a joke. Beck was like 14, but Gilmour 82  wtf   |
Come on, Ramone, Cobain, and White in the top 20? I suppose they wanted a diverse group of musicians, influential, too, but come on.......
|
Jack White before Tom Morello and Mark Knopfler?
Roflmao. |
Jack White is a good guitarist, but he should have been WAY down the list.
|
The cover to that issue is a poster on my wall :)
|
Kurt Cobain better than Jeff Beck??!?!?!?
This list was written by a retard. WTF? If I had to point out everything wrong with that list It'd take forever. |
Jack White is a good guitarist, but he should have been WAY down the list.
He certainly has some talent, but he and Gilmour should have switched places. Neil Young was way down with Gilmour too, terrible list. |

I guess they can't please everybody. |
The cover to that issue is a poster on my wall :)
I think I have that poster too, as long as it's the Hendrix one. The list sucks, but Hendrix rules, so I figured I could still use the poster. |
At least Duane Allman was in the top 5.
|
The makers of that list weren't prog fans.
Howe at 69, Lifeson not even on the list, Gilmour at 82. |
