Yeah I listened to Everybody Knows This is Nowhere about an hour ago....I think that's my favourite album of his.

Ulysses 09-04-2005 05:27 AM

I like his both his solo work and with Crosby, Stills and Nash, terrific songwriter. I was listening to the album "Comes A Time" not so long ago, its a solid record though one of my favourite of his songs would have to be Ohio, nice track that.

DeusExMachina 09-04-2005 07:43 AM

I like Neil Young, and definitely like his work in CSNY. I'm not as big a fan of Crosby Stills and Nash without Young though. It's good, but what I've heard of it doesn't strike me as amazing.

I was actully high when I wrote that too.

Maybe because Pink Floyd happens to belong to this classification of highly diverse music. :)

Random: A few days ago my BCIS teacher let us play Hot Rats (because she's into nstrumental Jazz) and it's probablly the first time a teacher has ever played a Frank Zappa album to a class room. I'm glad I could be a part of it. :)

Metallifan85 09-04-2005 08:37 AM

Nah, I had a teacher who played Hot Rats too, actually. It was the first time I heard Zappa.

It was in a music class though, not like in the middle of physics or anything,

I love that album. It's a great album to use as an intro to Zappa , too.

PinkFreud 09-04-2005 09:49 AM

its fairly accessible, not too weird, and shows off his bands awesome technical talent.

ATM 09-04-2005 09:56 AM

It also shows Frank's skill on the guitar. A lot of people don't know how good of a player he was.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-04-2005 10:03 AM

It was his first solo project that prooved Zappa wasn't just a freak with a freakish band to match. It showed his skills as a composer rather than his off color lyrics just a really great album here. :)

NP: Willie the Pimp - Frank Zappa

ATM 09-04-2005 10:05 AM

Wasn't he listed as like 70 something in Rolling Stones greatest guitarists list?

My dad and I were laughing at how bad the list was.

PinkFreud 09-04-2005 10:06 AM

the fact that joan jett was on it at all completely discredited it. haha.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-04-2005 10:16 AM

Kurt Cobain was like in the top 10.

Was Jeff Beck on it? What was he?

Glitterati 09-04-2005 10:18 AM

Kurt Cobain?

He said himself he was sloppy

np: Beach Boys - Good Vibrations

The list is a joke. Beck was like 14, but Gilmour 82

wtf

rockinbass17 09-04-2005 10:22 AM

Come on, Ramone, Cobain, and White in the top 20? I suppose they wanted a diverse group of musicians, influential, too, but come on.......

Glitterati 09-04-2005 10:23 AM

Jack White before Tom Morello and Mark Knopfler?

Roflmao.

ATM 09-04-2005 10:25 AM

Jack White is a good guitarist, but he should have been WAY down the list.

thunderzstruck 09-04-2005 10:25 AM

The cover to that issue is a poster on my wall :)

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-04-2005 10:27 AM

Kurt Cobain better than Jeff Beck??!?!?!?

This list was written by a retard. WTF?

If I had to point out everything wrong with that list It'd take forever.

robo2448 09-04-2005 10:27 AM
Jack White is a good guitarist, but he should have been WAY down the list.
He certainly has some talent, but he and Gilmour should have switched places. Neil Young was way down with Gilmour too, terrible list.

ATM 09-04-2005 10:29 AM

I guess they can't please everybody.
The cover to that issue is a poster on my wall :)
I think I have that poster too, as long as it's the Hendrix one. The list sucks, but Hendrix rules, so I figured I could still use the poster.

ATM 09-04-2005 10:30 AM

At least Duane Allman was in the top 5.

rockinbass17 09-04-2005 10:31 AM

The makers of that list weren't prog fans.
Howe at 69, Lifeson not even on the list, Gilmour at 82.
