I'm new, and this seems to be a fitting place to introduce myself. So hi. I'm Sam.

I'm here mainly to exercise my writing skills when I'm not writing essays for uni (I'm a philosophy and political science major). I used to play in a fairly rubbish 'deathcore' band in my local area. I have always hated the label deathcore, so I wouldn't really call it that. As well as playing our originals, we covered I Killed The Prom Queen, As Blood Runs Black, Parkway Drive and a well-known local band because we couldn't play much else. I could go on for a while about my band and the Australian hardcore scene, but i'll digress for now.

My tastes have since matured, at least in my opinion. While I've just discovered a love for Trance and Electronic music, my heart remains with metal. I started out on Metallica and Slayer and Trivium; I moved to Children of Bodom and Necrophagist and then to Lamb of God and Shadows Fall and As I Lay Dying and then to As Blood Runs Black and All Shall Perish and Arsis and then to Immortal and Primordial and then to Wolves in the Throne Room and Anorexia Nervosa and then to Between the Buried and Me and Protest the Hero. You get the idea - I'd like to think that I'm fairly versed in metal.

My reason for coming here is to try my hand at writing about the music I love. In the process of doing this, I also want to expand my metal horizons even further and d0cumenting this journey as I keep going. One of the great things to me about music is that you can never hear it all; you can never know everything. There's always something new around the corner and something new to learn. I've been reading the reviews here and the debate on albums i'm interested in for a while and it's something I'd rather like to contribute to.

So if you've gotten this far without thinking that I'm a pretentious **** and/or falling asleep, well done. You're almost correct.

I agree with you on production, and some of the tracks I've remixed to change some things, but I like the originals as well due to aesthetic reasons; some of them I purposely encoded at lower rates and filtered out stuff as it was in line with the concepts I envisioned . I actually don't know iannis xenakis or luc ferrari, but will be sure to check them out. Some of the songs [Stoned Whales, Monet's Water Lilies, Fall of Germany] I'm working into suites, so it's funny you made mention of them being movements.[/FONT]

Like I said, the movements (suites) deal would work pretty well in this album or your next one. It's indeed a very interesting project you got there, and let me say, you're doing something fairly unique in a field that's hard to these days.
