#1! 09-05-2005 09:52 PM
So... my DK marathon is over. I'm not going to listen to the live albums. But I listened to all the studio albums and Give Me Convenience. All were awesome. I have come up with my list of favourites

In God We Trust Inc.
Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
Frankenchrist
Plastic Surgery Disasters
Bedtime for Democracy
Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death
Damn! I lost Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables at the beginning of the summer and haven't found it since :upset:

I'd switch Frankenchrist and In Gawd We Trust, but otherwise you got this one right.

I've always loved IGWTI, so it will always be on top for me.

In other news, I got the new AM! album downloaded (not the edited leak) and musically I think it's grown on me. But I don't like the lyrics still. I don't think I'm going to buy it though, may buy an EP instead.

guns_of_brixton 09-05-2005 10:30 PM

Religous Vomit is probably the absolute perfect song to start that album.

In other news guns_of_brixton's (lawlz me!) band has a new (awesome) drummer.

Best DK song not written by Jello.

And don't steal my catchphrase.

my band can't find a drummer if our lives depended on it. The only drummer I know is a huge casualties fan and yells "oi, oi, oi" every fifteen seconds. I envy you.

Brain Toad 09-05-2005 10:33 PM

I tried to start a ska band, and we couldn't find a drummer. I still want to complete this band, because we had an awesome name. The Skazis. We were going to be really multi-racial for the irony++ points.

Will you have some sort of Middle-Eastern in this band?

Brain Toad 09-05-2005 10:37 PM
Will you have some sort of Middle-Eastern in this band?
We would try. Or I could count, since I have middle eastern blood, but I'm white, so it's not as fun.

J_McMeaty 09-05-2005 10:39 PM

And by "really multi-racial" do you mean overly stereotypical?

thank'ye, you and your ska related threads 'n such are also likeable.

Brain Toad 09-05-2005 10:41 PM
And by "really multi-racial" do you mean overly stereotypical?
They wouldn't have to be preformign stereotypes, just be not a bunch of white guys. Be some white, some black, some brown, some women, etc. They don't have to fit their nationalities stereotype or anything. But that would make for an intresting stage prescence.

I also worked on inviting a dance to our music, called the Skazi Skank, which involves Nazi salutes incorporated into skanking.

In the spirit of back to school-itude, I made up a joke today.

What's the difference between communism and erasable pens?

Communism looks good on paper.

RIP Ian Curtis 09-06-2005 12:28 AM

the only way to find a good drummer is to become one, I quit bass to learn drums for my band, coz we found a bass player who is way better than I was anyway.

Hahaha, sounds like you were ousted.

RIP Ian Curtis 09-06-2005 01:35 AM

yeah kinda. I'm still in the band and I enjoy drums more than bass. I volunteered to be demoted to drums, because the new guy Jason's bass skills piss all over mine and im not going to be a totall wanker and make the band sucky becuase I have an ego problem.

StruckEverywhere 09-06-2005 05:02 AM

At least you have a good attitude about it.

albert_bass 09-06-2005 05:13 AM

I play bass and I'd like to play drums too...Luckily I totally pwn at bass skills so I don't have any urgency.

StruckEverywhere 09-06-2005 05:19 AM

Nice and modest Albertron. Bass is way easy.

TakeWarning 09-06-2005 05:27 AM

Technically, yes, but if you want it to sound good it's pretty hard to invent an awesome riff.

StruckEverywhere 09-06-2005 05:34 AM
Technically, yes, but if you want it to sound good it's pretty hard to invent an awesome riff.
That's completely wrong. It's just as hard on a guitar and if you create one on a guitar you can just transfer it to bass and vice versa.

Jessizzle 09-06-2005 06:24 AM

School Omg

Well I kick *** at guitar too.

It's just that I fookin rule on bass, unlike most of the people I know, except my teacher.

lynch_me 09-06-2005 06:53 AM

Albert Do you use proper fingering?

albert_bass 09-06-2005 07:06 AM

I use pick. That's the only thing I lack :upset:

I can't play fingerstyle fast enough if that's what you mean.

superskankinactionhero 09-06-2005 07:23 AM

^^^ same with me, with the stuff i play in my band, and the stuff i choose to learn at home on the most part is way too fast for my fingers, and i've got pretty speedy with one o' them plectrum devices. i can still finger perfectly well, and normally finger our more reggae-ish songs, slower songs, and stuff where each note is on a different string if you get me (like ratm - bombtrack).

albert_bass 09-06-2005 07:48 AM

Pretty much like me. I play slow, mid-tempo songs well with fingers (see rhcp - walkabout) but to play fast things like let's say Streetilight Manifesto, I need pick.

lynch_me 09-06-2005 08:09 AM

I mean like for your figners you use on the fretboard do you use all of them to move around? or do you have a couple fingers of choice? I find it awkward to use all fingers, I try though.

superskankinactionhero 09-06-2005 08:09 AM

sublime - santeria is a well good fun song to play with your fingers.

superskankinactionhero 09-06-2005 08:11 AM
I mean like for your figners you use on the fretboard do you use all of them to move around? or do you have a couple fingers of choice? I find it awkward to use all fingers, I try though.
i predominantly use my index, middle and ring finger, i can use my little finger but i **** it up fairly often because the little bastard aint strong enough yet. and the two normal (index and middle) fingers for fingering, unless i'm doing triplets which needs the ring finger aswell.
