being a LotR nerd, do you think the movies did the books any justice?
Eh, yes and no. I mean, Jackson HAD TO do what he did for the movies to be interesting to the public, so I understand why he did it. BUT, in no way do I think they capture the full story or magnitude of the books. I still think they are amazing though. |
My only complaint was that they left out like, the Dunlanders and Tom Bombadil

So they weren't horrible and didn't stain JRR Tolkien's carpet? that's a nice thing to hear nowadays. |
The movies were really cool, I think they really captured the setting and the character roles.
|
The medium of film is a hell of a lot more visceral than books, but not as thought-provoking
The charge of the Rohirrim at Pelennor Fields gives me a boner every time I think about it I still have no idea why they added that godawful Aragorn falling over a cliff scene. That was just ... cringeworthy
My only complaint was that they left out like, the Dunlanders and Tom Bombadil
They left out Prince Imrahil getting a blowjob from a nine-year old Variag girl. That was essential IMO. |
I liked the LOTR movies but thought the half of the one book I tried to read was terribly, terribly written. Boring as sin.
|
The films are so much better in every way, but the books are classics, no question about it.
any of you up for an AIM chat? I'm feeling a bit bad and could use some lols room is mxrm |

Read the Silmarillion. The New York Times best-seller review described it as "a seat-of-your pants adventure ... pure adrenaline ... a real page-turner". |
I'd rather read something well written

... The Silmarillion is classic Like every other metal band / song / album refers to the Silmarillion |
