it got closed anyway

Give Ska a chance. The only reason the Ska Education and Discussion thread keeps falling off the main page is because other Punk related threads keep being posted.

If you put Ska in the limelight for a while, by giving it it's own sub-forum, I guarantee you more people would post, as they wouldn't be distracted by other stupid threads like they are now.

Take the Bedouin Soundclash thread for example. See, that band is really good, but due to the majority of the users in Punk not knowing anything about Ska, it never got the chance to develop any good discussion.

If you had taken that same thread and put it in a Ska/Reggae sub-genre, it wouldn't have been closed after a couple dozen posts.

AIRIC 09-05-2005 08:51 PM

Get it through your thick fucking hep-hep'd skull that noone dislikes ska. I personally love ska, but punk and ska can live together in one place, and maybe if we stopped bitching about it and started making some more ska threads it would work better.

KingOfSka 09-05-2005 08:52 PM

I'm not telling you to agree with my points, just please unlock it until DBJ says something.

Let's Chop Cats! 09-05-2005 08:52 PM

The reason it falls off the first place because there aren't enough users to warrent making a subforum.

There is not a big enough user base to do this, same reason why there is no Blues forum.

They can live together in one place yes, but obviously Punk is getting more attention due to the fact that the forum is called "Punk"

There's no mention of Ska, so people tend to forget about it.

Nowhereman42 09-05-2005 08:54 PM

i want a blues/ska subforum, it would be like a dream of mine

you should turn jazz/funk into a genre's that involve horns forum

Let's Chop Cats! 09-05-2005 08:54 PM

There is also ther OTHER MUSIC FORUM which has several large threads on Ska.

Ugh...I really think it would work. How many names would I have to get for the mods to consider making a Ska/Reggae sub-forum.

AIRIC 09-05-2005 08:54 PM

Yeah, it's probably because your big group of fucking people that want this forum NEVER MAKE ANY THREADS ABOUT SKA. We've had like two in the past week. "Bedouin Soundclash" and "Ska Bands with Two Guitars". Try making a ska thread.

Hardcore/Metalcore Discussion stayed on the first page just fine. Ska just doesn't have the fans like Hardcore does

Let's Chop Cats! 09-05-2005 08:57 PM

Ska revival has died down aswell, the scene isn't that big. There are not enough people, I suggest you start posting in the Ska threads that are here and make more Ska threads.

FYI, most of the users here fail to look at good threads.

Nowhereman42 09-05-2005 08:57 PM

just become the sid of ska, be a complete bastard and eventually maby they'll give you a forum

what ever happened to sid, does he just stay in hardcore these days?

KingOfSka 09-05-2005 08:58 PM

Allright you guys win. For now...

You haven't heard the last of me!

AIRIC 09-05-2005 08:58 PM

Sid is never in hardcore.

#1! 09-05-2005 09:00 PM

I personally love ska, but I don't think it has enough support and if it is given its own forum it might just turn into a section that nobody goes to because nobody else is there.

Nowhereman42 09-05-2005 09:02 PM

oh, he not around anymore then?

He never really was in hardcore. He's been posting all day.

Brain Toad 09-05-2005 09:04 PM

Sid was never a hardcore reg, in fact I think he dislikes a large amount of hardcore. Are you possibly thinking of Shane?

Nowhereman42 09-05-2005 09:04 PM

did he change his name or am i just really unobservant?

Nowhereman42 09-05-2005 09:05 PM

Anxious 09-05-2005 09:05 PM
Are you possibly thinking of Shane?
Yeah thats what i thought.

J_McMeaty 09-05-2005 09:06 PM

Derf!

Sid 09-05-2005 09:07 PM

I post in hardcore sometimes by the by. When its local hardcore bands or when Shane used to post in the hardcore community thread. We'd talk late nites in there.

But Nick is right, I dislike a lot of hardcore. A lot of those guys in the hardcore forum like With Honor too, it's hard to appreciate them.

I KID, LOL.

I know you so well baby.

Sid 09-05-2005 09:09 PM

I've also never liked how things are run in there, but hey, it looks like everything is clean and on topic. For a dirty, spamming f'uck like me, it's not the ideal place.
Good work, captain obvious.
Does that make me a super hero, Captain Obvious sounds like the name of the greatest super hero ever.

Anxious 09-05-2005 09:17 PM

Captain Beefheart is better.

Whenever someone posts in here and i havent read it yet, i get a warm feeling inside.

J_McMeaty 09-05-2005 09:17 PM

Captain Obvious is in some commercial.

Anything "G"ummy is "G"ood. My life summed up into words.

Brain Toad 09-05-2005 09:26 PM

So... my DK marathon is over. I'm not going to listen to the live albums. But I listened to all the studio albums and Give Me Convenience. All were awesome. I have come up with my list of favourites

In God We Trust Inc.
Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
Frankenchrist
Plastic Surgery Disasters
Bedtime for Democracy
Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death

me likes punk 09-05-2005 09:29 PM

I got a free guitar amp today, it's cool cos' it makes my bass sound like a distorted guitar.
So, how long did it take?
I'm not sure exactly, 3-4 hours maybe.

KingOfSka 09-05-2005 09:31 PM

For the past couple days I've been working on a thread.

"Ska For Dummies: Everything You Need To Know About Ska"

It's almost done :)

StruckEverywhere 09-05-2005 09:33 PM
I'm not sure exactly, 3-4 hours maybe.
Now that's commitment, kids.
