Oh cool. You're in your last year or something, right?

I'm currently being trained to teach English in secondary education. When I graduate I can teach VMBO students (that's like a lower high school education level) and the first three years of HAVO and VWO (the higher high school education levels). I'm thinking about studying at a university next year, though. That is, if I get my propedeuse. (I'm currently studying at a "university of applied sciences", which is slightly lower.)
sounds good. I finished my Fine Art degree last summer and will finish this teacher training course in May. Once qualified I'll be able to teach in any Further Education college at Further and Higher education levels (basically anything from low level diplomas to BA(hons) and foundation degrees)

Morumbar 02-22-2011 10:23 AM

Nice. So are you going to be teaching mostly art history and further theory regarding art, or the practise of creating art (or both)?

Brew 02-22-2011 10:32 AM

Ideally a bit of both, the teaching that's part of my current placement includes Foundation Degree level Fine Art & Contextual Studies with a bit of National Diploma level Media Production to keep me on my toes.

What's the structure of your teacher training? I've had two days a week of teaching theory followed by two days of being at placement which has worked out quite well so far.

Right now I'm in my first year, so I have one day at my internship, and a few days a week at school. This term I have only two days at school, but long ones at that. It changes around a lot. Next year I'll have two days of placement, like you.
