Since it seems like we're all in hip hop mode, could someone tell me what the difference is between hip hop and rap? Is there any?
No one seems to know.

CemetaryGates9 03-11-2005 04:18 PM

I think Hip Hop is a genre and rap is a sub-genre or something like that. I'm out bitches.

Illmatic 03-11-2005 04:19 PM

I don't think there is a difference

NP: 2Pac - Last ones Left

Yeah !

Bartender 03-11-2005 04:23 PM

One way of looking at it is that rap is a style of vocals, whereas hip hop is the music as a whole. So (I think) if you're talking about a genre of music you should talk about hip hop - rap just happens to be to hip hop as growling is to death metal, for example. That's based on the whole anthropological view of hip hop thing.

Congrats on the 13,000 Superpeer :)

EDIT: damn, you noticed before I posted :(

Speaking of anthropology, that reminds of something I found funny. I am taking Spanish 1 at my school. It's the 'if you're a senior and you need a foriegn language credit, you take this one' class. We've been learning colors and how to tell the weather and stuff, but this week, one of our vocabulary words/phrases was museo de atropologia.

WTF?

Our vocab list was something like this

color-sunny
frio-cold
nublado-cloudy
fresco-cool
museo de antropologio- Anthropoly Museum

again...WTF?

superpeer 03-11-2005 04:32 PM

It's probably in some text you have to read.

Woodstock 03-11-2005 04:34 PM

Kinda weird. Yes.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-11-2005 04:34 PM

Yeah, but still, I found it funny. I'm sure it was, but before each chapter, we copy down the vocabulary words in this graphic organizer thing, so at the time, I was thinking in orange size 7 letters 'wtf?'

NP: perhaps the coolest Doors song ever-Not to Touch the Earth :D
Rep cause I wore my Jim Morrison shirt today.
For one of our school dances earlier this year, the girls ask the guys and they go dressed with matching T shirts and stuff. I went with this really hot chick( ) and we went to go buy shirts, and I saw this sweet Doors shirt, and I really wanted to get em, but was all "Oh, no, I think we should these fucking ghey shirts that don't have Jim Morrison on the front."
