and darkness,,,, 'bringing back classic rock' MY ***!! i would even define them as rock..cyas LED ZEPPELIN 4EVA.
I'm assuming you meant "wouldn't"? So what would you define them as? It's funny how out of all the things that annoyed me with that post, that's the only thing I focused on. |
Woah, James Blunt made it to the US? He absolutely took over UK radio last summer and hasn't left since. :-\ I swear that one of his 3 or 4 singles gets played every hour on the only station I ever listen to, in spite of the fact that he's so desperately dull...I mean, I'm all for singer/songwriters, but his voice is so insipid and he's a lyrical disaster, so I can't see the appeal at all.
It's funny how you can tell a person is British just by reading a post :p But in all seriousness, I haven't heard this James Blunt guy. Maybe for the better? I never listen to pop radio, always my iPod or a classic rock or at the very least "rock mix" radio station if I want some variety. |
Does anyone have James Gang - Rides Again, my dads been annoying the hell out of me for it for the past week and mine got deleted, ill seriosly praise anyone who can help me out.
NP - Aardvark - Put That In Your Pipe and Smoke It |
At this moment, what is your favorite album of all time and explain?
Pink Floyd - Meddle I just can't say enough about this album, it's absolutely incredible. Porcupine Tree - In Absentia My non-CR all time favorite, it contains some of the most beautiful melodies ever to have reached my ears. Steven Wilson is a genius. And CR Revisited is a decent idea. |
Is it that one that goes like
YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL! *voice cracks* because yeah, I agree with you.
Ugh, yeah. That song annoys the hell out of me, and c'mon, I listen to Coldplay and ska. There's a baby shower for my niece at my house today, so me and my dad are going to go see Heart Of Gold :-D |
James Blunt would be a much cooler rapper name.
|
yeah, im actually in the same boat as you. i mostly only check here when im in class or about to go to bed or something.
by the way, if you're not doing anything for spring break, we should jam again.
I was almost going to go to Florida, but I decided I'd rather save my money. But yea, if we have the same week off, I'll definently have time to jam again. That was sweet. NP: Pink Floyd - Granchester Meadows |
I just recently found out I live near JoshIsNumber3, I wonder if he plays anything. We could jam sometime.
np: Pink Floyd -Wish You Were Here I'm thinking about watching The Wall in a minute, I'm dabating between that and working on my projects. For some awesome Floyd stuffs: http://www.pinkfloyd.co.uk -Click on the Echoes Album Site -Load it -On the main page, there is lots of cool song info by clicking the randomized song titles and looking for "Band Comment" (not all the songs have it) -Go up to the right-hand corner and click the box-thing between Floyd and Echoes, and then click 'Video Player' -Definitely watch the Echoes Promo, trust me. It's really cool. Then check out the other stuff at your will. |
If we were to make a new thread, I think we need the exact same first post, just so people will come in and quote it.
Let's try and make the thread title not the opposite of cool, okay? |
I would like to make the new one and have the same post that b0nz0 did, and have all the noobs quote me.

Concerning favorite album at the moment.
I'm on kind of a Revolver fix at the moment. I think it's one of The Beatles best albums, and could be my favorite album by them. It's so close to perfection, all the songs are fantastic, ecpecially Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, For No One, Got to get you into my life, And your bird can sing, and tomorrow never knows. Does anyone else think think Revolver is one of The Beatles best, if not their best? |
Yes, it's their best :)
I think Rubber Soul comes in a close second. I'm growing old of Revolver though. I skip Eleanor Rigby and Yellow Submarine every time I play it. |
Hey you're not dead JonG, thats good.
Revolver is their 2nd or 3rd best behind Pep's and Rubber Soul at times I really change opinion dailys between those two albums some days Rubber Soul will be my 2nd favorite and somedays Revolver will. My favorite album of all time, well that would have to be Exile on Main St. not a dull song on the album, plus it has "Happy" which is one of my favorite Stones song. I don't know why I rate it over Let it Bleed or Beggars Banquet neither of those albums have a weak track, but I just perfer Exile's greatness over the other two. But then again Let it Bleed has "You Got the Silver" and Beggars has "Salt of the Earth", which would be number two and three in my favorite Stones songs. |
I think we should go with Classic Rock Revisited when we make the new thread.
I like Maggot Brain, I need more Funkadelic. I've heard of James Blunt, but I've never heard any of his stuff. The only Radiohead album I like at all is The Bends. Their other stuff is just overly depressing. My favorite album - Eat a Peach, I really don't think I have to explain why. Some of my other all time favorites are Workingman's Dead, American Beauty, Pink Moon, Born on the Wrong Planet, Close to the Edge, DSOTM, WYWH, Animals, and Revolver. |
Does anyone else think think Revolver is one of The Beatles best, if not their best?
It is their best album I think and one of the greatest albums ever, good choice.
LED ZEPPELIN 4EVA
Nah, fuck a-lot of that.
Hey Med, what is so special about this new Jaga Jazzist album I've been hearing so much about? I'd figured you'd know. I've heard it's great from a semi-credible sources. |
So i found out today a Zappa tribute band, George Thorogood, and The Carl Palmer Band are coming here (different shows :( ) i'm definetely going to all of those
|
My two favorite albums are Tommy and Live at Leeds. Tommy has been my favorite album for ages now, and I still love it. I can't give much of an explanation other than that. And LaL is the epitome of live rock.

There is no way a frowny face belongs in that post. Does anyone know how old Thorogood is now? He's got to be pretty high up there. |
Tommy has been my favorite album for ages now, and I still love it.
Tommy is a very good album, and is probably my second favorite at the moment. Also, I was at the rock'n'roll hall of fame not that long ago, and the main exhibit was Tommy. |
And LaL is the epitome of live rock.
Yea, but everyone knows:
Live at Fillmore East ~ ABB > Live at Leeds ~ the Who :p |
Tommy is a very good album, and is probably my second favorite at the moment. Also, I was at the rock'n'roll hall of fame not that long ago, and the main exhibit was Tommy.
I was there this past summer and saw that. It was awesome.
Yea, but everyone knows: Live at Fillmore East ~ ABB > Live at Leeds ~ the Who
I can't say anything bad about them Allmans (especially Live at the Fillmore). But Live at Leeds is just better. Especially the deluxe edition. Edt: In this dirty hippie thread you'll get plenty of people to agree with you. But real rock 'n roll fans no where it's at. |
Yea, but everyone knows:
Live at Fillmore East ~ ABB > Live at Leeds ~ the Who :p
This man speaks the truth. |
Both albums are incredibile, but if I were to go see one of the shows, it would have to be Live at Leeds.
|
psh. you all know mine.
jeff buckley - grace (legacy edition) everything about this album is perfect to me. im just gonna get that out front right now. the only semi-weak track is corpus christi carol and that's only because it gets fairly boring. hell, even the bonus disc is gold. it adds a lot to the original album's already overflowing cup of awesomeness. the strong points are the good quality version of "forget her," the cover of "mama, you been on my mind," the road version of "eternal life," and "kanga-roo." even if the other songs on the cd were crap, which they arent, those tracks i mentioned would completely cancel the crap out and redeem it in full. the most beautiful album i've ever heard.
Heyo, hit the nail right on the head for me. Live Rust by Neil Young is an odd choice, but I never seem to get old of it. |
omgz throwdown!
In this corner, the wild man from some place, with his trademark move, the "Time For Lunch!", it's Lunch! And in this corner, the team attempting to derail the almighty Lunch, those lovable hippies, the Deadhead duo, Schyma and jpj! Who will win this throwdown of CR champions? We can only know after... Trivia contest! To the CR chatroom! /bored |
Live Rust by Neil Young is an odd choice, but I never seem to get old of it.
This is one of my favorite Neil Young albums. My favorite studio album by him would probably have to be Harvest, because of the songs heart of gold, old man, and needle and the damage done. |
Haha, Schyma is hardly part of the "deadhead duo". He is part of the dirty hippie duo though
|
Yes, it's their best :)
I think Rubber Soul comes in a close second. I'm growing old of Revolver though. I skip Eleanor Rigby and Yellow Submarine every time I play it.
I've always skipped Yellow Submarine, but I can see where you're going with Eleanor Rigby, sometimes I just don't feel like hearing it.
I think we should go with Classic Rock Revisited when we make the new thread. I like Maggot Brain, I need more Funkadelic. I've heard of James Blunt, but I've never heard any of his stuff. I have a few I can get you. James Blunt isn't my kinda music, I don't know if you should even bother with it. I like Ok Computer and Hail to the Theif, but that's about it for Radiohead. |
Live At Leeds completely owns Live At Filmore East. Filmore is good, but no live album can touch Live At Leeds. Nothing. Sorry. It's just a fact of life. If you don't include the Tommy disc, then maybe Filmore beats it, but with Tommy, Live At Leeds is unbeatable.
My favorite album of all time is probably Blood on the Tracks. I've explained a bunch of times why it's my favorites so I won't bother to go into much detail again. Just so emotional. I know I'm way late on this, but Classic Rock Revisited is a good name. No stupid puns though. Either make it that or just Classic Rock. I don't like Hippie House because that gives the impression that it's a communtiy thread. It is a community thread for us regulars, but we don't want non-regulars to come in and spam this thread up with community talk. I think that Badmoon, RNR, RockandRoll, or Med should make the first post. The first 3 are the only fathers of the thread who are still around and Med's the only mod that posts here consistently. np: Radiohead- Motion Picture Soundtrack |
Hmm, favorite album?
Yikes. Workingman's Dead, American Beauty, West Side Soul, T-Bone Blues, Loaded. Too hard. |
other favorite albums of all time:
the allman brothers - eat a peach the grateful dead - american beauty the who - live at leeds rilo kiley - more adventurous jeff beck - truth jeff beck - blow by blow jeff beck - wired the velvet underground - loaded miles davis - a tribute to jack johnson motion city soundtrack - i am the movie faith no more - angel dust the beatles - revolver the beatles - abbey road bob dylan - blood on the tracks buckethead - population override yeah, i have too many. get off my back. bus, my break starts next week. radiohead bores me. |
Ugh, I still haven't finished my papers and such, and I can't get myself to start on them :(
Someone motivate me somehow plzkthxbai |
What other Funkadelic albums do you have? I have a few I can get you.
All I have is Maggot Brain.
jeff beck - blow by blow
Oh shi, I completely forgot about Blow by Blow. |
I sent out The Norman Haines Band- Den of Iniquity. From what I've listened to so far, it's freaking awesome.
|
what kind of music is it?
jpj, NEVER forget blow by blow. |
Did you guys ever check out Little Barrie? It's good, trust me.
|
The Norman Haines Band album is heavy psychedelia/prog with some fantastic jamming. Good stuff. You guys will like it.
I read about Little Barnie on allmusic.com and listened to some samples and they were great. I'll keep an eye out for their album. Are they touring? np:The Beat of the Earth- This is an Artistic Statement Pt. II |
np:The Beat of the Earth- This is an Artistic Statement Pt. II
That's really scary, I am too. Dill pickles! |
So I couldn't go see Heart Of Gold because it's at a special theater all the way downtown and my dad's knee hurts too much because he's an old man.
So I'm stuck at my house during a baby shower. :furious: |
Two other albums that would have to be at the top of my list would have to be Hot Rats and Apostrophe. I love Zappa, he's such a musical genius, and an amazing composer.
