Meatplow 02-05-2009 05:43 AM

get ableton live to make sounds with though

gaslight 02-05-2009 06:22 AM

Yeah Ableton does have some fun synth sounds in it.

I want to buy a good recording program this year if I can afford it.

Meatplow 02-05-2009 06:25 AM

VST plug-ins exploded it well beyond the standard range of stuff they got in there though

gaslight 02-05-2009 06:44 AM

Yeah, my uni had a tonne of sounds for it. Awesome fun to mess around with.

One day I'll make an electronic album for fun.

Meatplow 02-05-2009 06:48 AM

i got a tonne of plug-ins off some DJ guy i know, trying to teach myself how to use them properly

Aaron 02-05-2009 06:48 AM

I'm buying a synth-workstation soon.. WoO.

gaslight 02-05-2009 06:56 AM

Sick.

One of my many future purchases is an excellent keyboard. It has to have an excellent piano sound, excellent rhodes sound and be a MIDI controller.

Aaron 02-05-2009 07:00 AM

I'm getting this:

Chu 02-05-2009 07:49 AM

There appears to have been a privacy breach on my school's disability network.

They emailed one student's details (about a re-examination sit), name and all, to the whole mailing list.

Now students are like "Please take me off this list" etc.

Massive drama = Epic lulz

gaslight 02-05-2009 07:57 AM

Haha funny story in a similar vein, I had some friends at Sydney uni and they thought they were e-mailing things to eachother privately and didn't realise it was going to heaps of people, basically all their contact lists, somehow wound up coming to me even though I've never been affiliated with Sydney Uni.

It was like person A B and C having a threeway chat about not liking person D. Then person D was all "Oh :upset:" and peoples A B C were like "wait a minute... uh-oh".

And I was like, haha /delete

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 02-05-2009 07:10 PM

from imdb

ts the summer of 1994, and the streets of New York are pulsing with hip hop and wafting with the sweet aroma of marijuana. The newly-inaugurated mayor, Rudolph Giuliani, is only beginning to implement his anti-fun initiatives against crimes like noisy portable radio, graffiti and public drunkenness.

The Wackness centers upon a troubled high school student named Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck)a teenage pot dealer who forms a friendship with Dr. Jeffrey Squires (Ben Kingsley), a psychiatrist and kindred lost soul. When the doctor proposes Luke trade him weed for therapy sessions, the two begin to explore both New York City and their own depression.

Propelled by an exuberant hip hop score, The Wackness captures the spell of 1994--a time of pagers, not cell phones; a time when Tupac and Biggie were alive but Kurt Cobain had just died. Funny and moving, The Wackness is an offbeat tale of two lost souls stumbling towards maturity.

Aaron 02-05-2009 07:15 PM

Is it worth watching?

gaslight 02-05-2009 07:34 PM

Haha that actually does sound pretty funny.

I found an old Radiohead poster of mine, sick. Had an old Kramer one too but it's ruined.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 02-05-2009 07:38 PM

it's not really meant to be funny, it's one of those coming of age films

it's pretty good.

imdb gave it a 7.2/10

Aaron 02-05-2009 07:39 PM

I think I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like A) radiohead and B) Seinfeld.

gaslight 02-05-2009 08:04 PM

Things that aren't meant to be funny are funnier because of it.

And Aaron, yeah, probably.

Meatplow 02-05-2009 08:57 PM
I think I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like A) radiohead and B) Seinfeld.
I enjoy both to a small degree.

gaslight 02-05-2009 09:06 PM

I like Seinfeld more than I like Radiohead. Based on statistics I'll watch on average two Seinfeld episodes a day, I don't even necessarily listen to Radiohead once in a month. Great band though.

When I check the mailbox today my ABN better be there or I'll be way disappointed.

gaslight 02-05-2009 09:26 PM

Ffs, Warner out for 2.

Haha, a sign held up by New Zealanders at the cricket - "Even We're Better Than You Now".

Meatplow 02-05-2009 09:58 PM

i sense a distinct IDM and ambient influence over radioheads later works whereas seinfeld is sorely lacking in this department

gaslight 02-05-2009 10:02 PM

Haha.

I would never watch Seinfeld if it had any hint of IDM or ambience. That said, Radiohead have pretty much always had leanings toward electronic music, it's just very pronounced on In Rainbows, which I wasn't that nuts about but only listened to like twice.

And yeah Radiohead are pretty much just in a state of, we've made all the money we could ever want, we can really do whatever the fuck we want to now, let's just do whatever we fancy. Very nice lives.

Haha, this - http://catb.org/esr/jargon/html/magic-story.html

Also at the cricket, a sign saying "your the best" for Hussey. It's the thought that counts.
