I know about "screamo" because someone wrote somewhere that Antioch Arrow were "screamo". then I looked for "screamo" bands on the Internet. none of which sounded anything like Antioch Arrow, of course. so what I basically learned was that the dude on Google videos - or wherever I read the comment - was stupid and that Antioch Arrow weren't screamo, and that screamo was good even if it wasn't Antioch Arrow.

here are indietrash performing Tchaikovsky's Ouverture Solennelle, L'Année 1812: http://soundcloud.com/alexanderb-1/alexander-spiller-tchaikovsky-pa-hoyt-niva. let me know what you think.

Juddybear 10-22-2010 09:25 PM

ugh antioch arrow

witchxrapist 10-22-2010 10:29 PM
i can say with a certain level of confidence that most people on here know about screamo because of this board.
Thank God the Lehigh Valley had/has epic screamo bands. :)

Nothing like getting a Cold Like December CD-R when you're 13 and having your mind blown.

alachlahol 10-23-2010 07:23 AM

oh jesus lehigh valley sucks

alachlahol 10-23-2010 07:25 AM

you guys had a native american athlete and some anthracite coal towns back in the day that's it. people form screamo bands there because the skies are always overcast and all the trees are dead

witchxrapist 10-23-2010 08:04 AM

It's been sunny out every day this week outside of Monday. :)
oh jesus lehigh valley sucks
What the hell are you smoking?
you guys had a native american athlete and some anthracite coal towns back in the day that's it
Also the east coast cement industry started here, Mac trucks started here, we had the biggest Steel Industry in the US during WWII.

There's like 5 extremely good colleges in the area, two well respected, large hospitals, and we've had a really really active hardcore scene since the '80s.

And the trees are definitely not dead, lolwut? We have tons of 70 ft walnut and pine trees in my back yard lol.

witchxrapist 10-23-2010 08:05 AM

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess you've never been here.

SlightlyEpic 10-23-2010 09:24 AM

pianos become the teeth are touring europe with suis la lune i am excited :)

witchxrapist 10-23-2010 09:26 AM

Wow, that's a sick combo.

SlightlyEpic 10-23-2010 09:27 AM

mappy you should come over here and go wif me i don't want to go to another show alone

christsimpson 10-23-2010 09:33 AM

they want like €500 to play, according to some dude who wants to book them. that's pretty lulzy.

alachlahol 10-23-2010 09:50 AM
I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess you've never been here.
i live in philly i've most definitely been up to the lehigh valley on multiple occasions

witchxrapist 10-23-2010 10:03 AM

How can you say that the trees are all dead and it's always overcast.

And like, how can you pretend there isn't a good hardcore/screamo scene?

And how are you so ignorant to how important of an industrial area it was up until the '90s?

You upset me, I love the LV. Although there's def a lot more to do in Philly.
they want like €500 to play, according to some dude who wants to book them. that's pretty lulzy.
Yeah man, a band coming across seas wanting money so that they don't end up in debt from touring, what a gay idea. Also, venues underpay bands constantly. :)

witchxrapist 10-23-2010 10:06 AM

seriously so beautiful here

christsimpson 10-23-2010 10:18 AM

idk about Pianos Become the Teeth (aren't that one of those hip trendy "post-hardcore" bands like La Dispute and Touche Amore?), but Suis La Lune are Swedish, and €500 to play in the neighbouring country of Denmark is a bit weird.

idk about over there, but over here people look at you a bit weirdly if you demand $700 to play, and you're a *punk* band...

but idc. I wish Suis La Lune and the other band good luck, and hope they come somewhere near me.

witchxrapist 10-23-2010 10:20 AM

The thing is, you'd like PBTT if you weren't so against bigger American screamo bands for whatever reason. They're *kind of* similar to Suis La Lune, that whole beautiful post-rock meets screamo sound.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeO0hlSAHBU

And yeah, actually $700 is a bit much, I thought you meant PBTT, not Suis.

christsimpson 10-23-2010 10:23 AM

I don't know which bands we're talking about, but if they are expecting $700 from every venue, that is a bit ridiculous.

I might listen to that song later. currently jamming my The Gloria Record 12" which came in the mail today.

and please tell the whole world I am here
here to be their hero
with a perfect body and straight teeth
and strings swelling every time I bleed

witchxrapist 10-23-2010 10:25 AM

Listen to that PBTT song, I'm sick of you blindly writing off bands because kids mosh at other bands' shows or whatever.

christsimpson 10-23-2010 10:29 AM

I don't write them off. I just don't care about whatever bands are hip nowadays. I get most of my music from people contacting me about the blog, or from my friends. not that you aren't my fwiend, mapster, but I don't really get into that style of "post-hardcore" or "screamo" or whatever enough to care.

tl;dr: people send me shit for the blog all the time. I don't have time/urge/need to look up bands any more.

but thanks for the link. I'll try to find the time to listen to it after the 12". also, I did download September 22nd, and they are in my queue. :-)

You clearly do if you refuse to listen to bands you otherwise would like just because they're "hip" (which they aren't)... like dude, hipsters listen to shit like Passion Pit and Animal Collective haha.
not that you aren't my fwiend, mapster, but I don't really get into that style of "post-hardcore" or "screamo" or whatever enough to care.
Pianos Become The Teath sound nothing like La Dispute, who sound nothing like Touche Amore. And ilu2 bb, don't worry, I'm just kind of abrasive. <3
they want like €500 to play, according to some dude who wants to book them. that's pretty lulzy.
i mean i don't think that is terribly outrageous. i think raein wanted like $300 guarantee and then a portion of the doors or something so they could cover their plane tickets and shit like that.

witchxrapist 10-23-2010 10:48 AM

I'm still so pissed that I couldn't catch Raein when they played the Church in Philly. :(

christsimpson 10-23-2010 10:49 AM

$300 and $700 are quite different figures.

mappy, I don't really "write them off". I just don't care enough to check them out. they are probably good. idk. I'll check after the 12", I guess.

in other news, the immensely talented friend of mine Thomas Bobovčáka apparently died last month, and I didn't even know. this is ridiculous. his band spent like three years or whatever in isolation recording their album, and were now going to tour everywhere. this makes me sick.

guys please check them out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9jFC0TzaD8. they are insanely good. the album is incredible. http://thatspunk.net/blog/2010/05/the-bridgeheads-foreigners/. undoubtedly unique stuff.

whiteminority 10-23-2010 10:56 AM
$300 and $700 are quite different figures.
yes they are, but raein also did a bunch of dates in the US. if the band in question currently is only doing a portion of what raein did then it's not that far of a stretch.

witchxrapist 10-23-2010 10:56 AM

That's sad man. My grandfather's dying. :(

christsimpson 10-23-2010 11:02 AM

oh man that sucks. it's really bad when someone are dying. you know? when it's an accident or whatever sudden event, it's really shocking. but when they are *dying*, it just sucks. you know what's coming. I'm not saying that accidents/sudden events are a better way to lose someone at all, but it just... sucks.

witchxrapist 10-23-2010 11:26 AM

Yeah, like. We got a call from my grandmother that he was in the hospital early yesterday, then around dinner she called again and was like, "Scotty's in intensive care I need to talk to your mom," and my mom just kept repeating, "Oh no, oh no," and my dad started crying and went outside. I guess that's what years of alcoholism does.

christsimpson 10-23-2010 11:51 AM

the pbtt song was really good. would be better if they weren't rushing so much. the changes come way too quickly. they could definitely benefit from taking more time for the build-ups and so on. but yeah. really good. great even. will definitely want to catch this band if they come near me.

ha, i know you love the LV. don't worry son it's awesome that you rep your area as hard as you do. i said it to get a rise out of you

alachlahol 10-23-2010 12:13 PM

what should done to rep LV really hard is to host a show on the abandoned strip of highway outside centralia with the smoke from the mine fires rising in the background that would be kvlt
i live in philly
hahahaha, that would be nuts

we've had a few shows out at the abandoned cement factories in coplay, that was really kvlt

SlightlyEpic 10-23-2010 04:39 PM

My Heart To Joy have put their new EP up for free download

should be good

12XU 10-23-2010 11:18 PM

whats wrong with touche amore and la dispute, they both play some of the best written emotional music ever. seriously, read their fucking lyrics theyre great

witchxrapist 10-23-2010 11:21 PM

Touche Amore is good, La Dispute is okay.

12XU 10-23-2010 11:23 PM

la dispute is really hit and miss and can be overly fluffy at times but its still good honest music.

touche amore is just amazing from the inside out. seeing honest sleep live was the best time ive had in years

witchxrapist 10-23-2010 11:24 PM

Exactly the nail on the head with La Dispute.

I really like Touche Amore, but there's so much other stuff that I'd rather listen to anymore... when To The Beat Of A Dead Horse came out though, got damn.

12XU 10-23-2010 11:27 PM

listening to it now
