Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 02:18 PM

Jesus...
I just never knew you could play a pedal steel like that.
That trumpet player is huge.

Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 02:20 PM

Im REALLY hurting for a slide right now... Like...you have no idea...

lemoley 11-02-2006 02:22 PM

i just bought one recently, dunlop glass pyrex one

really good and only 5GBP :)

Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 02:23 PM

I want a ceramic slide.

Plays like a steel slide, has the control of a glass slide, and a warm in the middle tone.

lemoley 11-02-2006 02:27 PM

yeah i wanted a ceramic or bone one like Perries out of Aerosmith's but they didnt have any and i sure as hell wasnt buying a steel or brass one

Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 02:28 PM

The ceramic slide has enough weight behind it that it's just fun to play. When I play with glass or medicine bottle slides I end up losing mobility and accuracy with the weight I have to put behind it, and the steel slides are just too heavy for string switching.

The ceramic slide just sounds smooth too.

lemoley 11-02-2006 02:29 PM

agreed

but im happy with what i've got :)

Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 02:31 PM

I have a glass slide that works alright, but I really want one of the open-backed slides used for lap steel now.

Ive got my acoustic in EBBEEE and Im trying to play it like a lap

lemoley 11-02-2006 02:34 PM

yeah i have seen that done before, it looks/sounds cool as ****

in fact wasn't a guy playing his acoustic like that in a video someone has just posted on this forum to do with grove?

Pinhead13 11-02-2006 02:35 PM

Will an EQ pedal make a huge difference in my tone?

lemoley 11-02-2006 02:37 PM

yes, depending on how different you set it to the settings you are running through your amp the change should be very recognisable

Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 02:38 PM

I just gave up on getting a good tone out of my ibanez.

lemoley 11-02-2006 02:40 PM

lol, what model?

Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 02:42 PM

SR506

I also just noticed how ungodly beat up mine is.

Pinhead13 11-02-2006 02:42 PM

I'm interested in that, perhaps I'll get one for Christmas.

I tried to build a lap slide guitar a while back. I kinda gave up, but I still want one.

lemoley 11-02-2006 02:49 PM

pinhead: i know im biased and im always pimping out Boss, but seriously you cant go wrong with a Boss pedal no matter what effect it is.

I command it :thumb:

Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 03:01 PM

The cort was a fretted dude  My fender jazz special is the fretless.

lemoley 11-02-2006 03:02 PM

night hobbes

anybody here seen the video of that dude playing 'while my guitar gently weeps' on a ukelayle(sp)

Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 03:02 PM

That video made me get a uke and try to learn to play but I got bored because I realzied I just wanted a classical guitar.

Shit I thought yiy were buying the Cort B4FL (fretless) guess I missed the boat a bit there.

Still get that bastard ASAP, also at some point try out the one with the mahogany body if you can.

Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 03:07 PM

Nope, the fretted B4 with a swamp ash body.

I'm not dishing any more money out on fretless instruments until I decide I really like it or get my intonation down.

lemoley 11-02-2006 03:07 PM

well im off too guys

see ya MX

ebe9 11-02-2006 03:09 PM

Cheers Lem

Cheers Jody

I am also off, have a good one.

My last day of work at my current job tomorrow, start a new one on Monday. Will have to see if they have an issue with me checking MX every so often.
I guess I should have said the top part, kind of like a single cut bass, the bottom will start about the 23 or 24th fret.

Ick.

If you like it, go ahead. For me it's pretty much everything that I hate in a bass.
