Organized Konfusion is reuniting in New Jersey.

niobium 06-11-2009 03:27 PM

nice. can't stop listening to stress

Iai 06-11-2009 03:50 PM

The more time goes on the more I think I'm the only person who prefers their debut.

ATM 06-11-2009 06:56 PM
Organized Konfusion is reuniting in New Jersey.
When and where?

niobium 06-12-2009 11:45 AM

i still have to listen to the debut if that makes it any better

pixiesfanyo 06-12-2009 01:44 PM
When and where?
i think All Points West?

the day they're playing its like Beastie Boys, Pharcyde, Q-Tip, Flylo, and the other days are less hip-hop so i'd say just go to the one with Organized Konfusion.

Iai 06-12-2009 01:59 PM

Just Googled it, that whole festival looks pretty good actually. I'd go if I was near it.

We_Love_Lime 06-12-2009 05:32 PM

have you noticed that Jay Stay Paid uses the same recycled siren and lazer noises :p ?

Apocalyptic Raids 06-13-2009 02:08 AM

haven't got jay stay paid yet, but it's probably because they're beats that didn't make it onto donuts or were done at the same time.

We_Love_Lime 06-13-2009 11:55 AM

Weak

SgtPrimus 06-13-2009 12:02 PM

Those seemed to be used as sort of a trademark for his beats made in the past couple of years. Madlib uses the siren in the latest beat konducta.

pixiesfanyo 06-13-2009 02:55 PM

The siren and lasers are all Dilla.

A_Raids you gotta get it, probably the best rap album of '09 so far.

SgtPrimus 06-13-2009 03:56 PM

Madlib uses them cause the album is a tribute

honourosis 06-13-2009 04:14 PM

yeah JSP is pretty damn good

Txus 06-13-2009 04:30 PM

24K rap is so good

Oh and UGK is perfect summer music.

kingsoby1 06-13-2009 04:45 PM

everybody wanna ball

illmitch 06-13-2009 06:28 PM

one day you're heeeeeere and then you're gone

another great summer song: Three 6 Mafia - Da Summa

Gattsu347 06-13-2009 06:55 PM

Double Barrel is really good.

Jaundice 06-13-2009 08:05 PM

I've been listening to The Mars Volta-Amputechture on the way to work lately.

We_Love_Lime 06-13-2009 09:23 PM

I wish Dilla would use something else.
For being, you know, so highly praised.

Animal noises.
That'd be tight.

you don't really understand

it's a motif that gives context and also it's symbolic plus sort of wacky

sgrevs 06-14-2009 01:52 AM

http://www.myspace.com/jontidanimals

check that guy out
very madlib/dilla/flylo influenced, really good.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-14-2009 01:55 AM
Weak
it's a posthumously released compilation so this sort of thing is to be expected
Let me call him up and tell him.
lol
A_Raids you gotta get it, probably the best rap album of '09 so far.
oh yeah, definitely getting it in the near future.

Jawaharal 06-14-2009 11:12 AM

been listening to lots of Em lately. Ya, post Eminem Show **** basically sucks, but god he used to ****ing bring it. Marhsall Mathers LP is classic, listening to it brings back memories of grade school =)

kingsoby1 06-14-2009 11:24 AM
Double Barrel is really good.
I really dug it the first week I listened... but it wears pretty quickly.

Most of the beats are pretty derivative. it's definitely a step in the right direction for new york hardcore ****, but it's not going to make an appearance in my overall year end list.

Rams 06-14-2009 12:13 PM

My issue with it is the other way, I think Torae gets boring after a while. I really like Polo's beats and think he's been consistently making the best lately.

There hasn't really been anything too notable this year.

kingsoby1 06-14-2009 12:38 PM

I agree about Torae; he benefits largely from Polo's production for sure. This is definitely some of the best stuff to come out of NY for years... I'm only saying it should have happened like 8 years ago. In 2001, this would have been a near classic.

My favorite records of the year for the genre are Mos Def and De La Soul tbh.

ATM 06-14-2009 04:31 PM

I need to give the new Mos Def a solid listen. I've never been able to really like him.

I've been all wrapped up in Project Pat and Jay Stay Paid.
