My favorate Beatles song for guitar is the Harrison penned While My Guitar Gentley Weeps. It nearly didnt get put on the album but then George got Eric Clapton to come down to the studio and play on it

It's an awesome song.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps is probably my favorite Beatles' song, and it's up there on my "favorite songs ever" list.

There is one other thing that I like even more though: proper spelling and grammar.

None of the Beatles were known for the amazing technical skill at any instrument, but, at at least in my mind, that's only part of the equation. They were all great musicians because of their ability to write and perform songs. Now I know what some of you will say, "Ringo wasn't that great," and you may be right, but what a lot of people don't know is that he pioneered the rock-drum sound (very deep tom and snare sound, not as much of the ringing noise that is typical of jazz and blues).

WMGW is one of my favorite songs of all time also. Its also the song that made me pick up Pep's I went to the store to find the album that had WMGW and it was the White Album, which was 24.99 so I decided to pick up Pep's instead, based only on the album art.

Well once Mick left The Stones... they kind of started sucking but by that point Keith was so messed up on drugs that he wasn't a shadow of himself in the prime. I'd still take Mick over him easily. But this is a Beatles thread.

The White Album owns. I've been listening to it this afternoon. I love John's singing on Happiness is a Warm Gun.

Heheh, a lot of regulars here have put Obla Di Obla Da on their "can't stand" list. I'm kind of indifferent about it.

I like Obla Di Obla da! What's wrong with that song? The only song I would ever even think about skipping over is Hey Bulldog...that song is weird and doesn't sound like a beatles song...(I'd also skip over Wild Honey Pie but that doesnt count).

Hey Bulldog is awesome....great riff, great groove, great vocals. Great solo!

I also marginally like Obla-di Obla-da....though on the same album as Dear Prudance, Happiness is a Warm Gun, I'm so Tired, Birthday, Yer Blues, Sexy Sadie, and Helter Skelter, it can easily get shoved aside.

Me neither...I don't. I just don't particularly enjoy weird vibrato sounds and a falsetto voice saying Honey Pie over and over. I don't skip revolution number 9 though.

Hey Bulldog is one of their best tracks. I never listen to it because my copy of Yellow Submarine was never given back to me after I lent it out. I'm still bitter over that also.

I'd skip over half of White Album, and half of Abbey Road.

Abbey Road makes me love life.

The White Album is by far my least favourite album from the Beatle's Rubber Soul and on era. Half the songs just sound like meaningless fluff to me, some of the songs don't even contain what I would consider decent creativity and songwriting. Personally, I think The White Album would have been much better as a single album.

The only Beatles song I ever skip over in Revolution #9. I don't think it's a bad song, in fact, I thought it was awesome and really interesting the first time I heard it. I just don't have the desire to listen to it multiple times.

Oh yeah, I also skip over Tell Me What You See and Act Naturally from Help because the cd is scratched up and those two songs skip automatically every time I try to play them. I need to clean the Help cd. My copies of Sgt. Pepper's and Abbey Road also used to skip horribly but I cleaned them and now they work fine.

We are polar opposites.

I can't stand the first half of Abbey Road but I think the secound half is some of their best work. Short catchy tunes. I just think the White Album would have been better off as a single disc release they really didn't need a double disc. Too much filler I say, too much filler.

Magical Mystery Tour would be an awesome album to trip to (wouldnt know, no experience)

I think what would be more awsome to trip to would be the Magical Mystery Tour movie or Yellow Submarine.

I think Taylor is better than Richards not because of his work with the Stones, but because of his work on Bob Dylan's "real live" album. I don't think Keith could have taken those songs in the direction that Taylor did. He owns on Masters of War and Highway 61.

Speaking of Dylan, I heard that there is a very rare bootleg of the Beatles doing Blowin in the Wind, it was just them messing around in the stuido, never ment for an official relese, but I would love to hear it.

I was holding Let it Be...Naked in my hand today contemplating whether to buy it or not. It was $29.99 and I could literally hear the devil conscience and angel conscience in either ear trying to convince me what to do. Not that it would be evil to buy the album or anything, lol, but that's just to give you an idea of how hard of a decision it was for me. In the end I decided I'd find it for a better price some other time.

Anyone else gonna watch the grammies this year? Paul is up for Best Album, and Best Male Pop Vocal. But he's up against Mariah Carey, U2, and Kanye West. Something tells me although he shouldnt, Kanye is going to win.

If i am hearing The Beatles in mixed Beatles cd's or playlist(in itunes or ipod) i tend to skip a few songs like Chains and Penny lane. If i am hearing any beatles albums then I don't skip any.

Definitely agree. I've never understood the appeal of a lot of that album.

I generally prefer the second half of Abbey Road for consistency, but I feel that the best tracks (Here Comes the Sun, Something) are on the first half.

I'll second that. The White Album has this in common with The Wall, that both contain brilliant songwriting and music, interspersed with boring fluff and filler.

You know what's awesome...I burned Sgt. Pepper and MMT onto one CD (because they're that short!) with a long pause in between, so I can just pop it in for one 80 minute experience of musical bliss. (my dad owns the albums and when I left for college I was copying a lot of his CDs) I love it.

Very cool, who's he against for best album? Chaos and Creation was one of my favorites of 2005.

I still haven't heard all of that album..

I never really listend to Chaos and Creation. I was never really into Pauls solo work. I liked Band on the Run though.

I'll have to disagree with that. The Wall is nothing like The White Album. The Wall has a definite and fairly obvious theme to it, The White Album just seems like a random collection of songs. All the so-called "filler" in The Wall is simply less popular songs that are necessary to keep pushing the story/theme along. The filler in The White Album is just plain filler, but I don't really complain about filler...especially when talking about The Beatles. I'm happy to hear everything ever written or performed by the Beatles, brilliant or not.

I feel the exact same way about his solo career (though I love Mabye I'm Amazed). Though I liked Chaos and Creation I would give it a chance if I were you he really supprised me on this album.

I like the fillers on the White Album, while they arn't my favorite tracks I think the Beatles were just trying to experiment and I have a great respect for all experimentation.
