To the people who actually got it before being told, it was hillarious. |
Yeah, but I sort of guessed that was what you meant already, I was just assuming it wasn't something so simple.

That joke dissapointed, i was expecting something bigger.
And about the getting high/drunk discussion, i've never had any alcohol or drugs. |
Thats awesome.
You know what B. D. Cooper I mean, right?
nope. please do inform me. |
D. B. Cooper was the alias of a person that hijacked a plane and held the people hostage for all kinds of money back in the 70's. Its americas only unsolved hijacking. Theres all kinds of theories about who it is, a lot of books say its some guy that visited the area a few months after the hijacking. Apparently, the hijacker lost some of the money when he parachuted from the plane, and this guy went looking for it. He told his wife he was Cooper on his deathbed, and theres a lot of proof that says it was him.

So... Wow, Owls! is breaking up, and playing their last show on Feb 17th in Raleigh, NC.
The Myspace bulletin was long as hell, and here it is if you want to read it.
Wow,Owls! has been a band for about 2 and a half years, starting in the summer of 2003 in a basement on Belmont Avenue in Richmond, Va. at the time it was just Brian, John, Tyler and I while Jeff was out scoping babes across America and Europe. We played our first show on December 5th in a basement on Grace Street, also in Richmond, with Stop It!!, A Day In Black And White, and Shadows In The Silence. Within months we were playing shows much more frequently, many more times with Stop It!! with whom we grew to love more and more as a musical entity as well as people. We recorded our demo in Amherst, Massachusetts over our springbreak from school in March, playing our first two out of state shows. We wrote more songs, did two days in the Carolinas with The Setup, and recorded two of them in August of 2004 with Jason Lafererra for a split with them (which wouldn't see the light of day until October 2005) and then soon after went back to Jason to record 9 more songs for what would be our full length Pick Your Patterns. 2005 saw us go on our first tour for a grand total of 10 days. In August we went back out for 12 more days visiting some of the same cities again and going a little further west and seeing some new places. It was on this tour that certain band members expressed concerns about the direction that the band was heading in. The European tour showed promise and plans were made, and debt reared its ugly head to more than one of us, reaffirming certain members' concerns. This brings us to the present. While we are all still the best of friends, the truth is I don't think any of us really expected that our band would grab so many people's attention. When we wrote our first few songs over that summer in 2003, none of us thought that we would have had the chance to see so many different cities (and soon countries) and meet so many people, much less get a chance to release a proper full length (thanks Paul!) and a 7" (and Richard!). That may have been the problem though, a big group of friends taking a lot of chances and putting more into it than some of us were capable of. While all of us are so very thankful for the support we have recieved from all of the people who ever came to shows, or bought our records, some of the members of our band cannot continue to commit so much time and income to being a part of a band that could potentially be capable of much more than we have already accomplished. It's funny thinking about how many times I have talked about Europe killing bands, but think I'm beginning to understand it. Crossing an ocean to play shows in several other countries is a lot of times the pinnacle, and once you reach it, you start to feel validated in your efforts. And while Europe isn't the reason we are breaking up, it is probably the reason we are still currently together. I can't even begin to try to compile a list of people who have made this short run such a fun and important ride for all of us, but I'm sure you all know who you are. The important thing to remember is that with the end of this band, we will all be pursuing something new, and as much as i hate drastic change, the prospect of creating something different is somewhat appealing. Rather than dragging this out any longer than it already is, here are the plans for our remaining months as a band. European Tour Di 27.12.2006 Hamburg - Rote Flora Mi 28.12.2006 Copenhagen Ungdomshuset Do 29.12.2006 Amsterdam - Winston Fr 30.12.2006 tba Sa 31.12.2006 Flensburg - Hafermarkt So 01.01.2006 off day Mo 02.01.2006 Leipzig - Zoro Di 03.01.2006 Wrzburg - Immerhin Mi 04.01.2006 Saarlouis - Juz Do 05.01.2006 Munich - Kafe Kult Fr 06.01.2006 Winterthur - Gg31 Sa 07.01.2006 Lyon - tba So 08.01.2006 Lille - Le Labo Mo 09.01.2006 London - The grosvenor Di 10.01.2006 Manchester - The phoenix Mi 11.01.2006 Glasgow - 13th note cafe Do 12.01.2006 Nottingham - tba Fr 13.01.2006 Belvaux - 911 Sa 14.01.2006 Groningen - Vera Upon returning and getting back into the swing of real life, we will be recording the final three songs we have written since the LP. These songs will be available online as well as the last three shows we will play (mark your calandars!) in our favorite nearby cities. w/The Setup(hopefully!) Friday 2/10/2006 - Raleigh, NC @ the Posidome Saturday 2/11/2006 - Harrisonburg, VA @TBA w/ The Catalyst and the final show... Friday 2/17/2006 - Richmond, VA @ Nanci Raygun w/ Josh Small, Single Spies, The Setup, and Pink Razors Again, thank all of you so much for making this such an amazing experience for me and the rest of the guys. Expect to see and hear more from most of us again soon in the future. Brandon / Wow,Owls!
|
Because I don't want to?
But basically, as Neeshee said. Neeshacker: just call em noobs Neeshacker: just say it Neeshacker: YOU ARE ALL FUCKING NOOBS Neeshacker: THATS WHY Neeshacker: THATS THE JOKE
Good job getting someone else to do your dirty jobs. |
... What? Him and I were talking about it and I just decided to post that. How's that getting someone to do my "dirty jobs."? He said the joke and I posted it so everyone could read it.
|
Let me add to the 'noobs' that most of you don't have any idea what this is all about and just run about, buy every 'cool' album, wear the 'cool' clothers, tell everyone about the 'cool' bands only you know ,etc.
Seriously, **** that mindset. Hardcore is made by us, for us and I think we need to do everything we can to keep it a counter-culture and not make it into a subculture. |
What the hell are you talking about? This place isn't like that at all.
If we did it to be cool, we wouldn't be listening to this kind of music. |
What the hell are you talking about? This place isn't like that at all.
If we did it to be cool, we wouldn't be listening to this kind of music.
Get more into the scene and you'll realise what torn's talking about. This forum is retarded. I only post here 'cause it has Neeshee and Ben. and torn of course<333 |
I still don't believe you know what you're talking abuot. So explain.
If you guys think we are such noobs, then why aren't you trying to help that instead of acting like you're some sort of emo elitists. Nobody here listens to certain music just to suck up to you guys, so I don't even know where that idea came from. |
I'm not some kind of 'emo eilitist' and I got into the music by myself so maybe you could just make an effort and check out as many bands as you can brohammed
|
I do . I've checked out nearly every band I've sen mentioned from here and all the other sites I've read, if I could find stuff by them online. I got into emo by myself, and most others here did as well.
You guys are acting like elitists, when you aren't any better than we are. I'm not trying to start **** in here or anything, but I don't see how you got the idea that anyone here just listens to music to seem cool. |
I can't remember ever acting elitist. I guess it's a sort of catch-all phrase nowadays.
Look dude, it seems like most kids just live to consume here, as if they have no idea what's behind it all. Seriously dude, that really ****ing sucks. It's not acting elitist, it's having love for the game I guess. |
Get more into the scene and you'll realise what torn's talking about.
That does sound sort of obnoxious though |
That does sound sort of obnoxious though
Yes it does, but I was just putting it blatantly. As soon as I started getting more and more into hardcore I understood what you meant when you were ranting on Soulseek. |
