For no apparent reason I think Anthony Gunnels is amazing, and I'm like, the only one :upset:.

TojesDolan 11-14-2006 04:23 PM

He has some nifty images here and there but usually metalhead songwriters tend to be too... brutal. As if they had no feelings.

And writing is all about sentiments.

Loving sentiments. :(

Eliminator 11-14-2006 04:33 PM

does listening to new music ever make anyone write songs

that's what happens with me

i'll be like "damn now i want to write" and i'll write out some horribl elyrix

TojesDolan 11-14-2006 04:35 PM

Yeah, especially when I listen to instrumental musix.

TheBigMachine 11-14-2006 05:00 PM

Yeah, 'cause then you can write lyrics for the instrumental tunes.

TojesDolan 11-14-2006 08:27 PM

Or... you can write your own music and lyrics!

Yeah, as I said before... his new stuff is a lot more of that than his old stuff.

Compare this part from To Take Comfort In Yesterday's Scars (off of the first album):
I wonder... I wonder if she was too dead to care if I tasted the blood of Christ
Her heart was weak and frail, and I'm drowning in the blood of Christ
to oh say... Bringer Of Truth (off of the third album):
All those with their knives deep in my back
I hope you choke on blood
I wish you could feel your flesh decay, rot, and fall off
So that you could experience every bit of dying
He seems to have gone from a heartbroken little boy to a serial killer theme.

Plus, To Take Comfort is about a Christian girl who wouldn't date him because he's Jewish!

Yeah, that was way better.

slack 11-15-2006 10:28 AM

ugh, I am having toughest time writing anything over 1,000 words. I was going to enter that short story competition, but it ain't looking so good. :upset:

TojesDolan 11-15-2006 11:28 AM

Meh, I'm sure everyone is writing about a harlot.

Bastards.

slack 11-15-2006 02:09 PM

So I just bought Grizzly Bear's album Yellow House and it is amazing. Anyone else heard of this band?

Eliminator 11-15-2006 03:40 PM

They're bland.

i am the robots 11-15-2006 03:52 PM

Never heard, don't think I want to.

TojesDolan 11-15-2006 03:54 PM

I don't really listen to Ursine-related bands aside Minus The Bear.

slack 11-15-2006 06:25 PM

Right. That settles that, I guess :/

Eliminator 11-15-2006 06:32 PM

i've had song ideas in my head all day

i don't want to write anything down because i don't feel like it

but i don't want to lose them

FA 11-15-2006 07:06 PM

Surf 11-15-2006 07:28 PM

I'm hitchhiking to Dublin for a few days. So I'll be gone from the forums. I'm sure you'll miss me...

ugh I have to get up at six in the morning and rely on truckers all day. Loads of fun.

slack 11-15-2006 07:38 PM

Just for the hell of it? Sounds fun.

Take it easy.

TojesDolan 11-15-2006 07:42 PM

Have fun Surf.

There's some sort of charity involved, but I haven't raised any money.

I'm just going for the guinness. And the fact that I love the Pogues, I'm sure they'll be playing Fairytale of New York everywhere. Best Christmas song ever.

Tojes, I'll get on it now.

Eliminator 11-15-2006 07:47 PM

the pogues \mmmmmmm/

Eliminator 11-15-2006 09:18 PM

i just wrote some of a song, but i don't want to make an individual thread for it yet. this is what i have

malachite, you gaze so heavily
through envy i harvest you
and weave the threads of our past

let us take it and shovel the remains
away from this burrow in the hills
let us craft it into something of worth

and from here we'll move forth for
every motion has become fallible
as we bury every step in the dirt

slack 11-15-2006 10:00 PM

Yeah.

I haet Minus the Bear with more passion than the loli haet pizza.

Eliminator 11-15-2006 10:12 PM

haet eh?

TheBigMachine 11-16-2006 01:40 AM

It's kind of like 'teh'

slack 11-16-2006 02:21 AM

Random lyrics because I am super bored and this board is so dead, dead, dead lately
TINFOIL HATS

he reminded me that the only way to
keep aliens from reading your mind
is to wear a tinfoil hat friend and wear it all the time
life keeps on changing
tell it to stay still but it won't listen
I just want you near me like you are now for good
transistor tape recorder, tell me about everything that I've lost
I know you've got it all stored somewhere
at least I'm keeping my fingers crossed
life keeps on changing
tell it to stay still but it won't listen
I just want you near me like you are now for good
kid I'm gonna be with you longer than the world can stand cause
there's a light that's stronger
shinning out of your eyes I see it
and it won't be long now
life keeps on changing
tell it to stay still
but it won't listen
I just want you near me like you are now for good
