I have it on vinyl and cd...although my cd version is a vinyl rip so I get all the crackles n pops etc...but its all good.
Funny thing crackles and pops - when CDs came out we couldn't wait to see the back of 'em - now some people miss 'em cos they add atmosphere etc. A more "organic" sound if you like.

Brew 05-24-2005 07:42 AM

I prefer the sound of vinyl, sometimes cd's sound far too polished.

rippa - Cozy's drumming on Rising is fantastic, really good stuff on there.
I like Ozzy waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.
Please give reasons as to why you like Ozzy better.

Note: saying that Paranoid is the best album does not count as a reason.

Damn

*likes ozzy better than any other sabbath singer*

King_Karl 05-24-2005 11:21 AM

Me too. I just love his voice.

shadow_stalker 05-24-2005 11:27 AM

hehe nice avatar. :thumb:

I wish sabbath would do a porper uk our rather than festival ****. If not they should just come and play newcastle.

King_Karl 05-24-2005 11:40 AM

I'm from Newcastle too so i'm all for that plan.

Ozzy's droning whine suits their earlier, slower stuff, but Dio's voice suits the more dramatic and faster tempos of the later albums.

Brew 05-24-2005 01:35 PM

Sabbath should play at the NEC.

Wait...

No they shouldn't, its a crap venue for gigs.

rippa32 05-25-2005 05:54 AM

I just want them to come to Australia. Like hell they will though.

I think it has alot to do with the fact that the earlier songs were written FOR Ozzy, and the later Dio album songs were written BY Dio FOR Dio. I admit that Dio singing Paranoid sounds rather wrong, but he does a better job I imagine than Ozzy singing Heaven and Hell. I don't think many would argue that Dio isn't a more accomplished singer. Bands tend to write stuff their vocalists can do well; it's just that I like the material with Dio more anyway.

I got Born Again and The Eternal Idol on vinyl today, I've only heard half of The Eternal Idol so far, its pretty good.

rippa32 05-26-2005 03:55 AM

Ive got zero the hero from Born Again. Lyrics and melody are a bit cheesy but a great riff. Hey brum do you get you're vinyls new or second hand? I was thinking of getting Ozzy's Blizzard of Ozz album on vinyl so I get the original bass and drum tracks and not those re-recorded ones.

Brew 05-26-2005 06:24 AM

Up to Never Say Die! the vinyl are originals/second editions all bought by my old man back in the 70's and 80's. The ones I've bought myself (H&H, MR, LE, BA, TEI) are all second hand.

I also have Blizzard of Ozz on vinyl, its good. Well worth buying.

And yeh...Zero the Hero is a bit daft...kinda reminds me of Hulk Hogan...

rippa32 05-27-2005 04:03 AM

Is the rest of the album similair?

Kronos 05-27-2005 06:48 AM
Is the rest of the album similair?
If you mean "Born Again" then the rest of the album is as bad or worse.

Brew 05-27-2005 01:36 PM

I quite liked Born Again, sure its not typical Sabbath but its still an alright album.

rippa32 05-28-2005 12:28 AM

Well I really like Gillans voice so itll probably be my next sabbath album. Then maybe Seventh Star.

JACKROXYOU 05-28-2005 12:40 AM

this thread lives???

wheres laiho?

rippa32 05-28-2005 12:50 AM

He changed his name. I cant remember what to atm. But good question.

Brew 05-28-2005 08:11 AM

ToRidTheDisease

He's banned, I have no idea why but I'm guessing its a perm seeing as he's not been here for ages.

AA-12 05-28-2005 09:34 AM

Hey, it's Josh (Laiho)

I got banned for some dumb ****, and lately I haven't been coming here much. I usually only post at my forums and sometimes here. I've been kind of pissed lately because I had something happen that made me almost completely unable to play guitar/bass, so i'm just kind of stuck right now not knowing what to do.

But anyway, I guess i'll start posting here more often and in this thread.

Brew 05-28-2005 10:03 AM

Welcome back to the madness

What happened to you? It sounds crappy :(

AA-12 05-28-2005 10:16 AM

There's the thread on it.

Brew 05-28-2005 10:18 AM

Bugger dude.

Isn't it similar to what happened to Dave Mustaine?

AA-12 05-28-2005 10:19 AM

Kind of, i'm basically going the same route as him, but i'm not sure if i'll ever be able to play much again.

Brew 05-28-2005 10:48 AM

That sucks, take it easy for a bit and you might be all good to go again.

shadow_stalker 05-28-2005 12:48 PM

Get well soon. :thumb:

viva_la_danny 05-28-2005 12:51 PM

that sucks

AA-12 05-28-2005 01:58 PM

I'm thinking of possibly trying to learn guitar left handed, but i'm not sure.
