The ALF is a group loosely made up of anyone who wishes to further the cause of animal liberation. There are no leaders and anyone who participates (independently of everyone else) can consider themselves a member.

It would be unfair to label everyone associated with the organization a terrorist as it is a pronounced non-violent group and all cells participate on their own. Of course the media has distorted the image of the group even if some members have used violent means to promote their cause.

All in all, contrary to what some think, the ALF is responsible for countless positive efforts in the political-activism of animal rights. If you still have doubts, think about currents events. Not all muslims are terrorists.

Edit: Most examples of the ALF's efforts includes saving animals that are in immediate danger (i.e. saving animals from labs or sabotaging hunts.
Very True. Anyone who commits murder under the name of the ALF is not the ALF. Don't listen to people who try to tell you they're a terrorist organization. Everything they do is in the name of Peace and Love.

you in shop or Comm Class? they would have all the info you would need to get it done. very easy module and is worth the credit.

Liebensaft 12-06-2005 03:53 PM

No shop class for me, sorry. What would be the stencil method?

ThisUserIsAPipebomb 12-06-2005 03:55 PM
No shop class for me, sorry. What would be the stencil method?
Thin cardboard or other stiff thin material, trace it one, cut it out, spray paint or fabric paint.

Liebensaft 12-06-2005 03:57 PM

Sorry for being stupid, or uneducated in the ways of DIY, but if I don't print directly to the stencil material for painting, how would I transfer without fucking it up, seeing as I have zero art talent.

holy_roller99 12-06-2005 03:58 PM

for single screen print and i am talking just word or a simple picture. just cut out the stencil with a pen knife. set it up in a screen rack and use a special paste or paint. lay out your t-shirt and using a rubber thing push down on the stencil with the paint and rub it across two or three times and use a special oven that has a conveyer belt to cook it. and hat is how you earn the module.

Liebensaft 12-06-2005 04:04 PM

I was thinking of printing the picture onto a manilla file folder, cutting it out with an exacto blade, and then taping it to the shirt, and painting it, and leaving it in that position to dry. How's that sound?

If you're doing it another way, print it, cut out the stencil, then place that on top of the stencil material and trace the edges, then cut that out.

That would work perfectly well as long as your printer can handle the folder.

holy_roller99 12-06-2005 04:06 PM

might work. i jsut described the pro custom way to do it. you are probably going to use a couple of fabric pens in the process though.

Liebensaft 12-06-2005 04:09 PM

I was thinking just fabric paint. What would be the most permanent thing to use?

holy_roller99 12-06-2005 04:11 PM

either one would prabably work the same but in any other case i would say the paint

DaveToopes 12-06-2005 04:13 PM

Definitely go with fabric paint.

Ghostfire3 12-06-2005 04:14 PM

What do you guys think looks/works better, fabric paint or spray paint?? Because I have an Operation Ivy stencil and I want it to turn out nicely.

DaveToopes 12-06-2005 04:15 PM

Fabric paint on a roller. You can get spray on fabric paint though.

coheneran 12-06-2005 05:32 PM

If you live in London, there's a free screenprinting tutorial every Tuesday evening in the rampART social squat. I went today, it was good.

use double stick tape its A+++ for stencils and very mcuh worth the two$ or so you have to spend
use double stick tape its A+++ for stencils and very mcuh worth the two$ or so you have to spend
I usually just scotch tape it.

ratsinthecity403 12-06-2005 10:10 PM

scotch tape rolled up works ok for big areas, but if you have fine detail sometimes it's too small to make little rolls and that's where double stick comes in handy. less time, too.

Would regular spray paint stay on a shirt for a long time?

coheneran 12-07-2005 04:10 PM
Would regular spray paint stay on a shirt for a long time?
Apparently it depends what kind of paint it is and the background colour. That's what my screen printing teacher told me when I asked him about spraying. I sprayed blue Humbrol Just Spray on denim and it looks great and hasn't run, leaked or faded. The jacket is too small for me though so Im gonna give it to my godbrother.
