what megadeth album should I get? (never heard them, but i like old metallica.)
Anything from the 80's, they're all great. Rust In Peace from 1990, by many considered thrash's finest hour 1992's COUNTDOWN To Extinction is also good, although not trash. The rest is, in my opinion, crap. Basically a bunch of forty-year-olds trying to sound heavy, lragely due to slick overproduction on the albums, although I enver did find anyone who agreed with me on this :D Their new, not-yet-officially-released album is pretty good too, that could also be worth checking out. But def. get Peace Sells But Whos Buying and Rust In Peace |
ok thanks :)

2000 posts!!! Woot.
Arise: I think CTE is overproduced. All 90's Megadeth is very, very poor, especially that ridiculously bad Risk. |
2000 posts!!! Woot.
Arise: I think CTE is overproduced. All 90's Megadeth is very, very poor, especially that ridiculously bad Risk.
Well, it took me about a year to actually be able to enjoy CTE, but then again, that's the only post-RIP album that I consider worth listening to. Both Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings had a few good songs on 'em (like Train of Consequences, New World Order, FFF) but it wasn't enough to make up for otherwise ****ty albums and (thank god, finally somebody is is agreeing with me on this) and overproduction. There's none of that raw sound that really good rock albums usually have. Granted, pre-RIP had horrible production (esp SFSGSW), but the songs more than made up for that. Of course, CTE had some **** on it too. Psychotron and High Speed Dirt are absolute crap, and to this day, I still can't take Sweating Bullets seriously. The lyrics are cool, but the melody is just laughable. BTW, whaddya think of the new album? |
Sometimes, underproduction makes it better, more raw. It gives off a better vibe... a good example is the excellent Welcome to Hell... Abbadon's drumming really sounds like he is hitting cardboard boxes, the guitar sounds like it was run through a chainsaw, not an amp, but how good is it? I only listen to RIP and Peace Sells by Megadeth, as I feel they are their only good albums. I am still sticking by the fact that everything post-RIP sucks tremendous amounts of a ss. Especially Risk. What a crappy album that was.
I haven't heard the new album... I don't believe in downloading albums before they have been released. It's being released soon, or may have already been released, I dunno. I should check my CD store. Kick the Chair's alright, though. -- Album to plug: Repulsion - Horrified - The first real grind album, before Napalm Death was around, and before gore lyrics were cliched. Has a nice raw sound to it, and is full of thrashy goodness! I mentioned them before in this thread, I think, but I only got one response. |
i just an iron maiden - seventh son of a seventh son picture disc vinyl :D im off for a few days now see you all in a few days stay metal \m/
Manowar are more metal than Scepter. Kings of Metal! Heavy Metal Warriors!
Maybe so, BUT... Manowar are gay and they make really really bad music. They're also assholes. Scepter makes good music. :thumb: |
Maybe so, BUT... Manowar are gay and they make really really bad music. They're also assholes.
Scepter makes good music. :thumb:
Blasphemy |
Ok so Manowar wrote songs about being the best metal band ever, if doesn't really matter because in a way it adds to their feel of being kick assm if that makes sense. I don't think I'm explaining it right.
|
anyone else pick up Zero Tolerance? Theres a small piece on a thrash band in there
|
Yeah, I got it. Are you talking about Aura Noir? Or is there another thrash band in there?
|
another thrash band, Nebukadnezza. Though the Aura Noir song with the free CD was pretty good
|
Maybe so, BUT... Manowar are gay and they make really really bad music. They're also assholes.
Scepter makes good music. :thumb:
Hahaha, i'm sure you know them personally as assholes. Manowar makes great music, alot of their stuff define heavy metal anthems. They may not appeal to your taste but childishly insulting them with words like gay and asshole won't get you very far. How about we talk about what we enjoy rather than bring down others opinions? :chug: |
