There Will Be Blood - OST

I read somewhere that Johnny Greenwood couldn't be nominated for the oscar for original score for this because it was stuff he had already written with Radiohead and not specifically for the movie, which is stupid as hell if you axe me.
i wanna check out pocahaunted, what do they sound like/where should I start
Well I started with Peyote Road, and I've fallen in love with them... plus they're fairly attractive girls too! So I'd recommend that as a starting point, although I only know that and one other EP at the moment. What I've heard is some really organic, psychedelic drone music... and the girl who does vocals reminds me at times of the vocalist from the Cocteau Twins, and also from Dead Can Dance if you know those bands. Diggin' it immensely man, I'm downloading another of their albums as I write. Maybe someone else knows them better than I do here and can help you further, but there's some links on sordomusic if you're liking the sound of it.

they're playing live with Sun Araw in a couple of weeks, can't wait for that.

Anxious 05-31-2009 11:22 PM

Sun Araw are great live.

Everything before Island Diamonds is how Bukowski described them; Island Diamond is a stylistic change for them, they add dub elements to their normal droney sound.

My favorite thing they've ever done is a colab with Robedoor called Hunted Gathering. Its harrowing.

Bukowski 05-31-2009 11:27 PM

Ah excellent, Island Diamonds is the one I just got. I'll get that collab with Robedoor too.
Dunno what that is. This is my first Vanderslice experience.

Oh it's his old band that was so-so.

Their albums are free online I think at www.mkultra.com

but you should def check out Time Travel is Lonely, that's his best album for sure. I can upload it for you if you want.
