Stfu Plath.

I find that the Foo Fighters are just kinda....mediocre. I like a few songs, but I can't really get that much into them.

np: World's Best Girlfriend - Fifteen White (low)

PinkFreud 02-18-2006 06:06 PM

blech. i dont like the foo fighters. i think they're bland.

ATM 02-18-2006 06:12 PM

The first Foo Fighters album is nice.

Woodstock 02-18-2006 06:39 PM

I think they're pretty bland too. Their sound now, though, is worse than it's ever been. The Best of You song is unbelievably annoying.

Quick question, does anyone have any Chuck Berry?

BigTrav415 02-18-2006 07:03 PM
 Why'd you do it man? :p

So I'm never having people in my room again. Last night was the first time I had everybody drinking here, and it was fine until all the bitches I didn't know started showing up, then they were just trashing the place. There's a whole bunch of beer in my carpet now, and I had to stay up till 2 listening to everyone's drunkasses argue. The only thing that kept me sane was knowing the immense amount of beer cans I collected would bring in some serious cash, and then one of the kids I didn't know came in and took them this morning to by more beer. Needless to say I am seriously pissed off now.

/that's it
I don't even know if you remember this, but yeah, it sounded like you were hvaing a bad time last night on AIM. When you have to practically break your back to get to your own computer in yoyr own room, there are too many people :p

Of course my unsocial self trying to have a conversation with you probably didn't help matters.

Thursday and Friday were absolutely gorgeous days here. I actually took my dog on a walk around my neighborhood both days, and it was great. But today sucked weather-wise for here, that gray wet type of day with occasional very cold rain/sleet. It's supposed to be like that tomorrow as well, and Monday it might snow (rare for here). Wich would be awesome, becauseif we get basically any sticking snow we're at least a 2-hour delay, usually a full-day out of school.

Speaking of which I need to do two things this weekend, make corrections on my paper for my Spanish artist and make a brochure with his paintings and info, and write the rough draft of my World Cultures paper on a religion. I'm gonna make a drawing of one of Botero's paintings as well to help the rest look better.

/note to self

Today was still cool though. I went over to my friends, whoa re two twins in my grade, and we played XBox 360 and a crapload of computer games including World of Warcraft and Battlefield 2. We also tried to kill each other with samurai swords. Really.

over_bends 02-18-2006 07:12 PM

Foo Fighters are awesome. One of the best bands of the last 20 years, imo.

Jacaranda 02-18-2006 07:15 PM

Ewwww... Foo Fighters... one of the worst I think they might be worse then Nirvana, and thats a tough act to beat. Although I do like Grohl's work with QOTSA but thats just cause Josh Homme could work with anyone and make fantastic music.

I have some Chuck Berry Woodstock but the album has a large scratch in it if I remember correctly so I don't think you would want it.

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-18-2006 07:30 PM

i absolutely hate QOTSA

so today i had to go to the hospital, i got bit by a dog my mom takaes care of at Animal Rescue, for once i wish i didnt like right next door to a place filled with dogs.

:-O

I love QOTSA. They are one of the greatest modern rock bands, imo.

zabbit82 02-18-2006 07:41 PM
Foo Fighters are awesome. One of the best bands of the last 20 years, imo.
They are. My friend just bought "Everywhere But Home" yesterday, and we watched it last night along with "Wedding Crashers". The FF dvd was OK, compared to when I saw them play in Detroit in October.

jpj 02-18-2006 08:19 PM

QOTSA owns the hell out of The Foo Fighters.

Against Miik! 02-18-2006 08:34 PM
QOTSA owns the hell out of The Foo Fighters.
Anything Dave Grohl is involved with is awesome, except for that whole Nirvana thing.

temporary 02-18-2006 09:03 PM

Hey, not to be off topic, but can anyone upload me Radiohead's Kid A? My freind and I really want to hear it.

MidnightRider 02-18-2006 09:13 PM

Meh, I don't like The Foo Fighters all that much.

So I just bought 2112, It's my first Rush cd. Is it a good one to start with?

BigTrav415 02-18-2006 09:14 PM

I've heard 2112 is awesome, I haven't heard much Rush except a few radio songs. Peart is awesome though. His drumset goes in a full circle around him, that's how big it is.

Jacaranda 02-18-2006 09:18 PM

2112 is what got me hooked on Rush, its still my favorite out of all their albums the title track is probably the only song over 15 mins that I don't get bored of ever. I could send out 2112, if anyone (Trav?) wants and Kid A I could do also.

temporary 02-18-2006 09:19 PM

Yes plz. I'll take one of each :D

Against Miik! 02-18-2006 09:30 PM

I saw Rush live I think 2 summers ago. They can still rock.

MidnightRider 02-18-2006 09:33 PM

Do they still have their original line-up?

Well, I just got done listening to the title track and it was pretty badass. Geddy Lee is incredible.

Jacaranda 02-18-2006 09:35 PM
Do they still have their original line-up?

Ya they all orginal. They had a drummer before Peart but he was replaced after the deput.

robo2448 02-18-2006 09:48 PM

I don't like Rush. Just can't stand Geddy's vocals. Very talented band, but Geddy's vocals ruin it for me.

I'd like Kid A. I've been hooked on OK Computer recently and I could use more of their stuff.

MidnightRider 02-18-2006 09:52 PM

I was gonna pick up Ok Computer today, but they didn't have it. I was pissed, they had every other release of theirs.

Tears is a really good song.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 02-18-2006 09:59 PM

I think I'm finaly discovering the greatness of All Things Must Pass it's really good but I wish they would've cut the jams off the end.

Did anyone just watch the dunk contest? Robinson jumping over Spud was pure classic. I don't think he should have won though he just got sympathy because of his height. Ray, what are your thoughts? (assuming you watched it)

Since we are approching the near end of this thread (post# 57274 and 60,000 is usualy the limit) I was thinking since we're so close to nearing the 2nd aniversary (March 16th) of the thread we might aswell begin the new thread on that date and keep the aniversary going and also to have a set date on when we should get ready on what we're puting into the first post. I don't know I'm just throwing around ideas.

Has anyone read The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger? If so, any good?

I hate the extended editions versions of (Hmm, I can't think of the names of the songs.. I think its My Sweet Lord and 2 others) but other then those its great.

Good idea! I don't have any ideas for the first post.

The Bends is my favorite Radiohead album I think, followed by OK Computer then Kid A then the rest in no order.

I actually chose the NBA All-Star Saturday over going to a party, that's how big of a basketball geek I am.

AI2 pulled off the best dunk of the night (off-the-back of the backboard reverse) but he had the misfortune of using it too early, his next three dunks were good but not as good. Nate picked up more steam as the dunk contest progressed, which is why he won. Also, my ass he is 5'9, he was barely taller than Spud who is 5'6!

And of course, Chuck, Kenny, and EJ made the whole night worth watching
Has anyone read The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger? If so, any good?
I read it for like my freshman English class...I don't remember it all that much but I don't remember hating it.

CR-related: Maggot Brain is a pretty solid album

magicbus 02-18-2006 10:17 PM

I like the Foo Fighters. I don't like Rush.

"Waiting" is really funny, sorry to hear the rest of the story though Freud :(

All Things Must Pass is really awesome, Maggot Brain is really awesome, but I prefer the live version of the song on One Nation Under A Groove.

Caught up.

BigTrav415 02-18-2006 10:19 PM

I was actually really thinking about the closing of this thread and the new opening. I was thinking we should have decide who gets to make the new one, and who gets the last post in this thread.

Future generations will read of this thread and only wish to partake in it. It will become a classic text, matched only by the Iliad, the Bible, and the Cat In The Hat.

MBS 02-18-2006 10:29 PM
Has anyone read The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger? If so, any good?
I like it a lot, although it's mostly Holden bombing around New York trying to get laid. It's philosophical, in a weird sort of sense. My history teacher quotes it a lot, and I'm the only one who gets the references. She put the opening line as one of the answers on a multiple choice for a famous first opening liner from a period of realism. (The answer was the famous "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times..." quote)
Hey, not to be off topic, but can anyone upload me Radiohead's Kid A? My freind and I really want to hear it.
Yeah, I second this. I'm getting cable tomorrow! :D
I was thinking we should have decide who gets to make the new one, and who gets the last post in this thread.
Schyma said he's gonna do it, and I'm pretty sure everyone doesn't mind. I was actually thinking the only mod who posts in here (Med) should do it.
the Cat In The Hat.
Classic.
Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Mr. Burns has the monkeys typing.
Hahahahaha, yeah, I remember that.
I was thinking since we're so close to nearing the 2nd aniversary (March 16th) of the thread we might aswell begin the new thread on that date and keep the aniversary going and also to have a set date on when we should get ready on what we're puting into the first post.
Well, the thing is, it's a classic rock thread, kind of. It's more like a CR reg community thread. Because, really, if you go into the R&M community thread, the conversation turns to grim tr00 blak metul every few pages or so, and it's hard to keep in discussion. Here, we talk about bands we all like, and modern rock comes up a lot. I don't think we should go under the moniker "Classic Rock" anymore because we discuss way more than that in this thread.

Glitterati 02-18-2006 10:32 PM

I've been meaning to read Catcher In The Rye for like two years now.
(The answer was the famous "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times..." quote)
Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Mr. Burns has the monkeys typing.
Schyma said he's gonna do it, and I'm pretty sure everyone doesn't mind. I was actually thinking the only mod who posts in here (Med) should do it.
I agree, I think a mod should do it. Med would be my first choice.

Edit: If he won't do it then I'd be glad to do it but if anyone else wants to do it I'm fine with letting them do it instead.

MBS 02-18-2006 10:48 PM
But it's the Classic Rock thread. If anybody doesn't know the what's what by now, they should be banned and killed.
Yeah, I guess.

Jacaranda 02-18-2006 10:53 PM

I sent out Kid A and 2112.
Med would be my first choice for first post, but I really don't care at all who does it.

Krabsworth 02-18-2006 10:54 PM
Catcher In The Rye is one of my favourite books. I read it when I was like 14/15 and it made a lot of sense. Probably less now that I'm sane.
I read that when I was 12.

Why would Med get the 1st post? Scyhma should get it.

Or that Ac/dc 4 lyfe guy.

Jacaranda 02-18-2006 10:58 PM
Why would Med get the 1st post? Scyhma should get it.
Why wouldn't Badmoon or Lunch or someone else get it? Or did you guys decide long ago Schyma would get it? Again I don't care I just want to know about the politics of this thread. :)

I'll be security guard for the new CR fred opening.

The Children of Bodom thread is looking quite suspicious....

MBS 02-18-2006 11:01 PM
Why wouldn't Badmoon or Lunch or someone else get it? Or did you guys decide long ago Schyma would get it?
I don't know about Badmoon, all he does is post whenever someone discusses the Dead. Otherwise, he's out in his poncho playing hackeysack.

NP: Jumpin' Jack Flash - The Rolling Stones

Edit: I think Med should do it, just because out of all of us, he's the most open minded and has probably the most varying opinions. Although I don't he doesn't gay up the thread with a first post like:

Welcome to the CR thread! We have a couple of rules here...

Krabsworth 02-18-2006 11:03 PM

Hahhaha

lol I changed my mind, no Med! He doesn't like the Stones :(.
He doesn't even know about our plans to have him do this does he?
I have thought of a great way to get the CoB freds attention away from the new CR thread. We can play classical music over in the community thread, and they will all go, "hey wtf that is a laiho ripp off wtf,"and they will all riot over there.
That made me
