When i go to college , im gonna try and go to a school like magicbus' and have a classic rock class , that would make me happy . Edit: That would be funny if someone asked you what you majored in , and you tell them Led Zeppelin .

I know at Case Western (in Cleveland) they have a history of Rock and Roll class, and you get to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame once a week for it.

magicbus 09-02-2005 08:52 PM
Too bad they don't have enough time to go more in depth into psychedelia and all that, but it still sounds awesome. Aaron, being a CR reg for over a year now, you'll probably know most of whats covered.
Yea I knew almost everything the teacher was talking about today. I don't think I'll have a problem with that class after spending a year plus in this thread.

MBS 09-02-2005 09:13 PM
Ok here's my Rock History class overview:

Week 1: Roots of rock: early jazz, boogie woogie, country, blues, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Muddy Waters, B.B. King.

Week 2: Rockabilly, Sun records, Elvis, Everly Bros.

Week 3: Late 50's and early 60's, girl groups, Spectorsound, the Brill building, Beach Boys, Motown.

Week 4: The early Beatles

Week 5: Early and middle period Beatles

Week 6: Middle and late period Beatles

Week 7: Dylan and the transistion from folk to folk-rock.

Week 8: Folk-rock: The Byrds, The Mama and the Papas, British blues, early Rolling Stones.

Week 9: Middle and late 60's Rolling Stones

Week 10: The Stones in the 70's. Solo Beatles in the 70's.

Week 11: Jimi Hendrix

Week 12: The Doors, The Who

Week 13: Tommy

Week 14: Led Zeppelin

That's the overview of the entire class. Yes, it's a college class. We only have 5 tests, and we don't have to write any papers. Today we listened to Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters records, and watched a video about Chuck Berry. This is my favorite class ever
You are such a bastard man, that class sounds so great.
Aaron, being a CR reg for over a year now, you'll probably know most of whats covered.
Weird, both of our names are Aaron and we both joined in May 04.

Conspiracy?

angusmaster 09-02-2005 09:29 PM

My sentences looked cramed together . Edit : I would love to teach a classic rock class , that would be AWESOME .

For getting a space, you press the "enter" key. And also you don't have to put a space before a period or a comma. No wonder your sentences look like crap.

Pfft, Arena rock fans... am I right, guys?

...wait :(

Ok, guys. Stupid post alert. If you want to get some flaming in because I know you're all flame whores, do it here. http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9473034&postcount=18

I use to think that song was too soft for me, but after i got into Clapton, its pretty cool.

robo2448 09-03-2005 10:16 AM

I'm liking this Eric Clapton live bootleg. He sings strong, and his guitar playing is as good as ever. Steve Gadd is on drums and Billy Preston is awesome on organ/ keyboards. It's from 2001, somebody uploaded it a while ago, but I'm listening to all the way through for the first time today.

I was thinking the thread was dead today because everyone was at school, but then I realized it was Saturday like 2 minutes ago. Anyway, I'm off to Sharon, CT for some family thing for the day. Eric Clapton pwns.

I Hate You! You lucky bastard!

I wish my high school had the funding/staff/resources to have more then just a general instrumental music class.
