My dad has a girlfriend from Thailand who barely speaks English. Even when she talks, I can't understand her. She cooks stuff all the time and it smells horrible. She also seems to have no concept of what's sanitary or dangerous to do with raw/cooked meats. (ex: eating raw pork and leaving meat dishes sitting out for hours). I don't know how the two communicate. But the Thai food that I've had in restaurants was really good. I like the spices that clear your sinuses instead of burning your tongue.
