/smokes bubble pipe :smoke:

So you moving out to Kentucky is finalized, then? Nothing is going to keep you in Cali, is it? I'd hope not, that would be horrible.

Shred Danson 04-06-2005 09:18 AM

Yeah, purty much.

Shred Danson 04-06-2005 09:35 AM

Alright, here's the track listing for my little solo/cover CD I'm making (no drums :( ) :

1). In My Darkest Hour (megadeth cover)
2). Silent Night Bodom Night (CoB cover)
3). Wrath Within (CoB cover)
4). My Demise (instrumental)
5). Nutshell (Alice in Chains cover)
6). Zombie, inc. (In Flames cover)
7). Master of Puppets/Four Hoursemen medley
8). Deform Reality (instrumental
10). Diminished Hell
11). Blackwater Park (Opeth cover)

Arucard 04-06-2005 09:40 AM

I want to hear Zombie Inc. Its my fave In Flames song, and Silent Night should be interesting. If you send me those track zipped i could record some drums for most of them. Definatly Puppets and Zombie Inc anyway.

Jom 04-06-2005 09:45 AM

I'd be up for listening to something like that, even moreso if Joe puts drums in for you.

Arucard 04-06-2005 09:49 AM

It shouldnt be a problem. What program are you recording with?

Good list Sir, but make sure that you can do the high screams in Zombie INC otherwise it'll blow (has covered In Flames and fucked up soley because of screaming too low)

Arucard 04-06-2005 09:54 AM

The solo in Zombie Inc. kicks serious arse. So funky its unreal.
The solo in Zombie Inc. kicks serious arse. So funky its unreal.
It's not funky at all... more of a melodic masterpiece.... it doesn't have the whole driving rhythm of funk.

So tonight is the Date a DJ charity auction for the campus radio station at my uni. Twenty or so DJs are going to be auctioned off (for charity, obviously).

/me goes across stage to music

MC: "We'll start the bidding at one dollar! One dollar!"

/silence

/tumbleweed rolls by

MC: "One dollar, come on now!"

/X-Files theme music plays

MC: "Fifty cents! A quarter!"

/blank stares from audience

MC: "Jom, get the fuck off the stage."

What are you gonna play Cold and TRUSTcompany and the likes as a DJ?

Jom 04-06-2005 10:19 AM
What are you gonna play Cold and TRUSTcompany and the likes as a DJ?
Shut up :upset:

My show is basically the only one of its kind, even though I only have the role of substitute DJ (next year I will get a full-time gig). Yeah, I play those things, but I play other genres as well: progressive, hard rock, and then I have a little segment where I play a couple classic rock songs and a wildcard from another opposite genre (100% of the time, it's hip-hop).

I played Circle Takes the Square's "Same Shade As Concrete" and people IMed the station and were like, "That's pretty cool stuff." A lot of people noticeably liked the intro ("Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice a noble birth!"). Not a lot of people listen in, though.

Basically, the DJ is in charge of the station while he/she is in there and is responsible for all IMs to the station (it has its own AIM screen name), visitors, phone calls, etc. We have to obey all those federal laws and things, but it's only an AM station, so our listening radius is basically five miles in all directions of the campus.

The DJs can make advertisements and put them around campus so long as they take them down when they're supposed to, but I just advertise online saying "Listen to my show" and I put up my tracklist and people can check them out if they wish.

It's just frustrating because there are so many indie and pop-emo kids here, and I can't tell the shows apart, really. Each time I tune in, The Decemberists, The Faint, The Get-Up Kids, Jimmy Eat World, The Killers, or Belle & Sebastian is playing. It's not that I don't like that kind of music, it's just that EVERY SINGLE DJ PLAYS THE SAME GENRE ALL THE TIME.

Permanent Solution 04-06-2005 10:19 AM

So it occured to me whilst looking for my planner today I am gettting my psych evaluation right after my next class. Yay! :(

Oh yeah, good morning everyone.

EDIT: Going back to clase, adios.

Jom 04-06-2005 10:34 AM

Adios, good luck at your evaluation.
I'm gonna be a punk DJ at a party in a month.
Congrats :)

Did you read my post about the DJ auction tonight (previous page)?

Are you like me, predicting that I won't be a big draw? :p

superpeer 04-06-2005 10:41 AM

Yeah, I read it. I've never been a DJ, all I will be doing is make a setlist with my friend, the other DJ, and put the CD's on. The advantage is that people at parties are usually drunk or stoned, so they'll probably like it. Plus I'm some sort of guest DJ, so I get free booze, so I won't notice anything either. :)

Jom 04-06-2005 10:45 AM

That's humorous.

We have some pretty DJs, and some handsome ones as well. We also have some atrocious-looking ones who will inevitably bring in almost nothing for charity. I'm just going to go in completely uncasual attire, while some are buying flowers and wearing suits.

Fuck that, I'm too lazy :)

superpeer 04-06-2005 10:49 AM

So if you get bought, you will be a slave?

Jom 04-06-2005 10:55 AM
So if you get bought, you will be a slave?
Actually, no.

The DJs are under no obligation to pay for any of the date

EDIT:
The specifics of the date are to be negotiated at the time of purchase. Everyone has a different schedule so DJ and buyer will work it out accordingly. The date can be anything, though if it was free that would be sweet. The DJ is not required to pay for a date.
Word-for-word transcription

"... that would be sweet." I'm sure that could have been phrased better by the DJ that's putting this on, haha.

superpeer 04-06-2005 11:10 AM

Haha, that would be sweet. Although you could end up getting an ice cream.
