Nostalgia 02-15-2008 01:21 PM

Nice. Are you getting your license or something? It's weird you guys get your license so late, but I hear your public transperation is great, whereas here it is definitely not. That's probably why. :p

I get my license Wednesday. :D

Yeah, I'm quite late with it.
I'm 21, and we're allowed to start driving lesons at 18.
But indeed public transport is good here and for students like me it's free.
So I go everywhere for free.
City trips, you name it.
Also, I go out quite a lot to bars, I get driven there by bus, payed by the government.
I buy beer from my scholarship, payed by the governemnt.
When I'm wasted I get a rideback home, by bus, also payed by... yes.

So, You see why I didn't really have an urge to get my license.
:p

In some states you can get a learners permit at 15. I did when I lived in Virginia, then I got my license at 16. I am now 21, so I've been driving for quite a while.

Nostalgia 02-15-2008 01:27 PM

I started dirver's ed when I just had turned 16, but that damn 6 months requirement blows ***, even though it makes a lot of sense, haha.

the2stranger 02-15-2008 01:27 PM

I think 16 is way too young, let alone 15.
But that's me.

Nostalgia 02-15-2008 01:30 PM

Ok you'd have to be insane to give Jelle a driver's license.

eh depends of the kid really. I was probably too young. I got into three accidents when I first had my license. I've had none since and have only gotten 2 speeding tickets.

superpeer 02-15-2008 01:32 PM

I'm not allowed to have a licence or any sharp objects.

But no, I don't have a licence. I take the tram, the bus and my bicycle.

RouteOne 02-15-2008 01:33 PM

I need to get a new Bicycle.

superpeer 02-15-2008 01:35 PM

me too

mine is a piece of rust

the2stranger 02-15-2008 01:37 PM

Bicycles are pretty sweet.
The Netherlands is bicycle country number one.

RouteOne 02-15-2008 01:38 PM

I had an old one a few years ago that was amazing. Nice handling, brakes and comfy seat.

gmoneyguy 02-15-2008 01:38 PM

The USA was until Lance Armstrong retired.

the2stranger 02-15-2008 01:44 PM

We have an insane amount of bycycle routes, roads/paths though.
Really I tell you, we have a lot of those.
And about 1,5 bicycle for each inhabitant of Holland.
:-\

superpeer 02-15-2008 01:45 PM

Belgium is probably second.

They're the low countries for a reason.

RetiredAt21 02-15-2008 01:46 PM

I don't ride bike. My g/f drives.

the2stranger 02-15-2008 01:47 PM

In the states you need 1,5 bike to fit one inhabitant.

/Prejudice.

gmoneyguy 02-15-2008 01:54 PM

More like 2 bikes.

RouteOne 02-15-2008 01:55 PM
