pink floyd is definatly more of an album band then a single band. however on almost evry1 of their albums they have a couple of filler songs.

thickasabrick 08-31-2005 10:48 PM

Good lord how long are your sets? I'd be interested in hearing quite a lot of those....Stray Cat Strut definitely.

edit- Ultimaterocker, I beg to differ. I can't think of any songs they have as filler. Some may argue that Seamus is filler because it stands out from the rest of the album...but they wouldn't have put it in just because they needed one more song, Pink Floyd doesn't put out "filler".

SonorKen 08-31-2005 10:51 PM

We usually play 13 to 16 song sets, I'll make sure to record it, we TEAR that song UP! Lemme tell ya! I might even video some of the show.

well thats kinda what im getting at theres a few songs on their albums that just dont really go with the seeming flow of the album maybe filler isnt the right word for it.

SonorKen 08-31-2005 11:03 PM

Drums, Lead Vox/rhythm guitar, lead guitar/vox/synth, bass, and rhythm guitar.

Hey Ken glad to see you over here in this thread!

Ulysses 09-01-2005 02:01 AM

Jeez, that is some set-list, I would be very interested to hear you guys play some of those tracks, Road House Blues, the Zeppelin and INXS especially.

crate 09-01-2005 02:24 AM

actually rock bands before is really ok. i think they are the foundation of what we have now so respect is really appropriate., and for generations now. they should be really aware of the roots of their inclination.
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

This is the thread for general classic rock discussion.
Christ, that is one odd setlist.

I'd definitely like to see/hear some clips from that show.

Also, anyone else astounded at Bob Dylan's voice on "Girl From the North Country"? I don't think he ever sounded like that again....I definitely don't think it's because he "quit smoking".

The Godfather 09-01-2005 02:38 AM

I agree with you on that. Its a matter of roots and fruit. Everybody has their own time and era. But its still on the lingua franca on all of us which is Rock.. :thumb:
Hey fellow classic rockers. I'm new here and I just wanted to say hello
I'm a big fan of classic rock. It's pretty much all I listen to. The stuff coming out today is mostly garbage. Here's a blast from the past for you... Does anyone remember the tune called 'Switchin' to Glide' by the Kings?
Dave

I joined your forum, but mainly just to yell at someone who thought that a Rush tribute band would be a good idea. :)

Yeah man, Switchin to Glide is a great song...I love the line (now I have to try and remember it) "The weekend is all that matters, from a Tuesday point of view" (or something along those lines).

i'd like to join that forum....but I spend enough time in this forum as it is.

So, uh, Neil Young's cool.

NP: Down by the River - Neil Young

Broken Arrow 09-01-2005 02:37 PM

Yeah, what album do you own by him?

wottariff 09-01-2005 03:14 PM

I totally agree man, Old skool/classic rock is making a comeback. Ok, rap is still what everyone wants to hear and then nu metal stuff but lots of up n coming bands are being infulenced by older rock bands.

robo2448 09-01-2005 03:54 PM

Today at my library I got- Traveling Wilburies Vol. 3 and Paul McCartney- The "Russian" album

Don't you love libraries? I got the DVD Alices Restaurant the other day from the library. I watched it last night, I was slightly disappointed because for some reason I imagined it would just be the greatest movie ever. I liked it though, good music definitely. I've never really listened to Arlo Guthrie, I figured he was just trying to cash in on his fathers success...but I seem to be mistaken.

JonG 09-01-2005 04:11 PM

Vol. 3 is good. My favorite of the 3 of the "Volume" series thing.

NP : Zappa - Peaches En Regalia(good song)
