i actually havent downloaded anything from that blog. i dont know why. i just felt uninspired by it.

that d&d album youre talking about is a bootleg with duane on it. it's got some great playing even if the sound quality is a tad iffy. if you're looking for live d&d i would recommend the official live at the fillmore first.

I sent out the Killing Floor album. My computer's fast today. I'll take a look through your list.
...Did you get that thing I sent ya?
Yeah thanks :) Downloading now.

So, I missed that DSO concert because the guy who was going to take me had to do a paper or something, but there's a few more concerts coming up soon at that theater: Yonder Mountain String Band, PHIX (Phish tribute), ZoSo (Zep tribute), etc. Here's the link for anyone who cares

http://www.lincolntheatre.com

Haha, Opeth's there tomorrow, and they're sold out. Probably the bigest act they've ever had there (tiny little downtown bar/theater)

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-14-2006 03:45 PM

i found out that Dark Star Orchestra is coming here also, so i might go

NP - Emerson Lake And Palmer - Still...You Turn Me On (live)

BigTrav415 02-14-2006 03:49 PM

Yes, I would seriously recommend going. Don't make the same mistake I did! Well, it's not reall my fault I guess... I should've planned it earlier I guess.

Haha, on the Yonder Mountain String Band website, they have a little music player that shuffles through some random songs, and now they're covering I'm Only Sleeping  Really good too...

JonG 02-14-2006 03:49 PM

I got The Big Lebowski and some candy from my mom for Valentine's Day.

Not bad for a holiday I don't believe in.

Jesus, I'm glad someone agrees with me...

Hallmark: "Guys, we're not butt-raping people for their money enough between Christmas and Easter... Hey, I've got an idea! Let's make up a holiday! We can make every guy in America buy their girlfriend some ridiculously expensive chocolate or flowers, and because most girls are incredibly shallow and have to be bought material things to stay happy, they'll totally buy into it, and bitch out their guys if they don't buy expensive stuff for them! It's foolproof!"

"Yeah... but how will we get it started?"

"Well, let's just take some random old story about a saint or something and tell the world that it's a ancient world tradition. They always believe shit like that."

God I hate Hallmark.

PF, could you upload Paul Butterfield Blues Band- Lost Elektra Sessions when you get the chance? I know JonG uploaded like a month ago, but my computer was messed up and it wouldn't work when I tried to download it.

jpj 02-14-2006 04:05 PM
I didn't get it
I'd like to have it though so if you could send it to me CursedMale@gmail.com, I was looking for Ulver albums all over town (2 stores.) and neither had any Garm related projects that I was looking for so I guess this'll do.
I'll forward it to you.
Me neither, jerk!

...badmoon349@yahoo.com
You too.

Magicbus: I'd like to give Ulver another shot if you don't mind sending one of those my way, and sorry I haven't uploaded the Frog Brigade album yet.

I'm downloading the Sam Gopal album the guy just posted today. It was the band Lemmy was in before Motorhead. I'm really curious about what it will sound like.

I think she's ready to take it to the next level.

magicbus 02-14-2006 04:46 PM

JPJ: No problem bout the Frog Brigade

JPJ and Jac: I'll probably just upload all three of those Ulver albums, but I might not be able to do it till thursday cause I'm going home for tomorrow.

Robo: That Killing Floor sounds like it'd be something I dig. I'll check it out.

NP: Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song

PinkFreud 02-14-2006 04:51 PM

bus, it turns out that the frog brigade got deleted when my computer had to be reinstalled and what not. i'll get it again and upload it.

Woodstock 02-14-2006 04:54 PM

I'm writing a paper about soul music for school, but I also need samples of that genre to go along with the report. So my question is, which song do you think best summarizes soul music?

Marvin Gaye - I Heard It Through The Grapevine OR What's Goin' On OR Sexual Healing

James Brown - I Feel Good

Otis Redding - Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay

I know Illmatic listens to Curtis Mayfield, so he might be able to help you there.

Jacaranda 02-14-2006 05:03 PM

Sam Cooke - "A Change Is Gonna to Come" hands down..

Sweet, that'd be supa.

jpj 02-14-2006 05:10 PM

I'm supposed to right a paragraph that gives examples of and explains three different types of music. I wish I had the chance to right about music more often because it just comes so easy to me, and I actually find it enjoyable.

I'm listening to the Odin album right now, it's definitely one of the better ones off the site.

I won't make my mistake of counting my chickens before they hatch (hate that phrase, but it describes the situation I'm in), so I'll request stuff when I finally get the cable line installed on Sunday.

I thought that too, haha.

Glitterati 02-14-2006 06:27 PM

Some people said "Happy Valentine's Day Liam" to me, so I've been cheered up a bit.

Does anyone listen to an old punk band called X? Because I've been wanting to check them out for a while, but I've decided not to buy CDs for a while because I need to save money. So if anyone knew any alternate way for me to hear their music, that'd be sweet....hint hint.....>.> <.<

Jacaranda 02-14-2006 06:29 PM

I have to write about a genre for the paper and the album I think is most important. I think I'm just going to go with CR even though its not a genre, no one will notice. CR, Post-Punk, Pop or Alt Rock is my other considerations. A lot of my choices were took already. Oh, and if I do do CR the album will be Exile, surprise?

I'll hook you up with Los Angeles when I get the chance to rip the album.

I got a couple of cards from friends for V-Day and an CD from one friend, some candy from various people and a rose from a girl; but the girl I like I only talked to for about 30 mins today and I totally forgot to make a move or ask her how her Valentines was, I didn't get anything for her so it was probably for the best. The best gift I got was coming home to find Krispie Kreams all for me. I swear they will be the death of me.

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-14-2006 06:35 PM

My mom was going to buy me a cd but i told her just to give me 20 bucks to go to my Dan-need's-a-new-guitar fund.

Krabsworth 02-14-2006 06:39 PM

What kind of guitar do you plan on getting?

PinkFreud 02-14-2006 06:43 PM

jacaranda, you should definitely upload that x. johnxdoe was supposed to up some for me but i dont know where he's been lately.

thickasabrick 02-14-2006 06:46 PM

Damn...my internet shut down right as I was entering my big long post. Oh well. Long story short: Sam and Dave are a good soul duo/whatever, I'm listening to some good downloaded music, I stole a lawn gnome off of someones front steps.

edit - Oh yeah, and I'm about to start listening to that Beat of the Earth album as well. It's just starting. It sounds awesome! And it's cool how the whole album is only two songs. I'm really diggin this.

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-14-2006 06:56 PM

Krabs, theres a couple i'm looking at with my budget and all
mainly,

Unless you guys have any recomendations.

Krabsworth 02-14-2006 07:10 PM

WTTM, huge yes to the Artcore.

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-14-2006 07:13 PM

Yeah my uncle let me borrow his, i fell in love with it.

thickasabrick 02-14-2006 07:15 PM

In regards to the Beat of the Earth album....this is the third best psychedelic album I've ever heard. I didn't think I would hear any other psychedelic bands that could even be compared to the Syd era Floyd. This stuff is definitely awesome. The singer actually sounds kinda more like Jim Morrison.

I suppose it helps that I'm a little off baseline.

Lunch 02-14-2006 07:18 PM

What's the second best psych album you've heard?

JonG 02-14-2006 07:28 PM

Please don't buy the JS30. Low end Jackson's are terrible :X

Out of those, go with the Artcore. If you saved up more, you should get a RG321 or 350.

Indeed. If you don't want a floating bridge, get it and stick a PAF/X2N in it.

:)

Mahogany=sex.

Ha I was talking to Lunch the other day when I was listening to the album for the first time and I said the singer sounds like Jim Morrison on acid. Jim was already on a lot of acid to begin with, but this guy sounds like Jim would if he took even more acid. I know that doesn't make any sense, but whatever.

Wasn't Ray Manzarek in X?

Anyone download the Killing Floor yet?

I don't think he was a full on member but I do know he worked with them on the album I have. (Los Angeles.)
NP: Mott the Hoople - Momma's Little Jewel, I never liked this song one bit the first 100 times I heard it but for some reason yesterday I liked it and had it stuck in my head, so now I'm listening to it a lot. Good song!

Lunch 02-14-2006 07:46 PM

I bought Genesis - Foxtrot today. And am listening to that awesome Taste of Blues song right now (the 17-minute one).

JonG 02-14-2006 07:46 PM

Ray Manzarek =/= punk

:)

Thanks for the Killing Floor.

Krabsworth 02-14-2006 07:48 PM

The Doors were actually quite proto punk, if you were to play their songs without the jazzy drummy, it sounds almost like punk.
