Okay, someone please leave a message after this and give me a hand. I'll be back later to check.
I've got paypal set up on my myspace right now for paying for my CD. How do I get it to calculate shipping? I've seen mention of it on the paypal site, but can't figure it out. This is essential, since I have a buyer from Norway and a buyer from Japan right now who want to know. Thanks. :) |
Try this.
1. Log in to your PayPal account. 2. Click the Profile subtab of the My Account tab. 3. Click the Sales Tax or the Shipping Calculation link in the Selling Preferences column. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/cps/shipping/EasyCalculateShipAndTax-outside **Edit** I don't use Paypal, I just found that stuff after looking around the paypal site for about 45 seconds. |
So I came up with a headless/bodyless bass design today. Think stignberger with a bit of a twist. I even designed my own bridge/tuning system for it. Now I really want to build it.

No head and no body... so it's a neck with a pickup and bridge?

Something like this, only me design is cooler. This is the general idea. http://www.hohnerusa.com/gbassheadless.htm The best part of my design is that it uses all common parts, just a regular bridge and tuners. Nothing special is needed. lowsound |
I see. I find those way ugly. I prefer my basses to have a head and body.
Let's hope your design is better, because I definitly wouldn't want something that looks like that. |

Also it would be maple and walnut in a natural finish. I really like basses like that because they are so light and sit nicer when they are strapped on. Plus I think that they look cool. lowsound |

lowsound
If the body extends that far, will it not be more difficult to reach those frets? |

<3
Acoustic guitar is such a great instrument. I still love bass more because I can actually play it (sort of), but acoustic guitar is a close second. |
I play acoustic so much more because I actually like my acoustic.
I've yet to figure out what Im going to do about buying a bass. I have like $650 or just sitting in my case but I don't know what I want |

I guess I should have said the top part, kind of like a single cut bass, the bottom will start about the 23 or 24th fret. lowsound |

I wish I could figure out how a harp guitar works just for the pure hell of knowing. |

???? Quite enjoying strumming Root 5ths on the D & G. |
Dunno.
I've got the money for that cort, but I can't get a ride into new orleans :( |
Dunno.
I've got the money for that cort, but I can't get a ride into new orleans :(
I tried out a B5 with a mahogany body, beautiful. You will not be disapointed in the fretless, just string it up with D'Addario Chromes from the get go. Hustle you *** a bit an make some cab fare. |
I live in a pitiful little town, no public transportation what so ever
The cort b4 with a swampash body is what Im looking at. My fretless fender is giving me the blues :( My intonation is god awful. |

I love my fretless and becasue I have no ear I don't know if my intonation is awful...............:p It sounds good to me. |
I snagged the most awesome tone through my Eden with the J at about half volume, the p at about 2/3 volume, and the tone half cut. But my intonation after the 5th fret is so awful that I find myself just playing alot of bluegrass.

I find the intonation on the B4 to actually be very good. I adjusted saddles and not the note rings out exactly over the fret markers on the side, so play as normal and don't give a crap if I am a few cents out. The only place the intonation begins to not match up to the markers is past the 17th or so fret, basically the neck is very true. |
The intonation on my actual bass is fine, but there are no lines to be intonated too :p

Fret lines are for sissies. :thumb: All you need are the little side dot markers. |
I have those, but its where it gets furthur down where theres 4 "frets" for every dot that confuses me.

I want to make cracked out music like that. lowsound |
Smoke crack.

Do you make full use of your pinky? Or do you find you use your ring finger more? I just sat down and practices playing the root and then just doing 3 hammer on runs from the 9th - 12th fret and then 12th - 15th fret. Just practice. I still pretty much play the fretless staring at the fretboard non stop. |
Smoke crack.
I don't actually want to smoke crack though. I just want to make weird music. lowsound |
I still "gig" three-four times a week on fretted, its the fretless players kriptonite.
And no, I tend to take more of a guitarist approach, I use my index-middle-ring until I need the pinky to stretch. |

I have right from the begining used my pinky so I built up the co-ordination and strength in it. It makes it a lot easier on fretless if you are assigning 1 finger to a fret. |
I use my pinky plenty, but Im not strictly a finger a fret.
Think about a guitarist soloing and the role of their pinky. |
I just recently switched to the 1 2 4 method of playing when playing in first position. Wow, it is so much easier.
