White Album > Abbey Road > Rubber Soul = Revolver > Sgt. Pepper's and they are all fantastic
Did you forget that the White Album is no good? |
I know I've pimped bands/records before, but this Nada Surf shit is the real deal.
I just got The Proximity Effect aswell, goodness. I can see the Weezer comparison, but I'd say Nada Surf on a whole are more mature and have a larger scope. pioubgig[oinwonv |
It kinda sucks that I don't get the Cure.
|
Don't get the Cure?
I've never been much of a fan either. |
I'm gonna give them a fair shot. Let's hope I can find an album for quick download.
|
Afghan Whigs
Mono Dandy Warhols Radiohead etc |
Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me is a record in their catalogue you don't hear enough about. It's very solid. Then again, I don't think any albums by that band are bad.

Your enthusiasm has inspired me to check it out now. |
I need to get more Cure albums.
|
What genre are Nada Surf? I've never even heard of them.
|
Maybe alternative/pop-rock or something.
|
Yeah, alternative/pop-rock is fitting, but also not a great description.
Awesome band, just awesome. |
Then again, I don't think any albums by that band are bad.
I forgot about Bloodflowers. That album is whack. I wasn't too fond of the new s/t when I gave it a listen, either. |

I dislike Nada Surf.
|
Martin Grech - Unholy
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP Elvis Costello - This Year's Model Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation of Millions.... |
Yeah, alternative/pop-rock is fitting, but also not a great description.
Awesome band, just awesome.
I had Hi/Low but then my sister took it back. Good stuff. |
It's the only Costello I've heard. I like it a lot, though.
|
I guess I may aswell list my diggage.
Beastie Boys Shpongle The Jolly Rogers Devin Davis |
Schnitzl'd In The Negev = best song name ever.
|
That's for damn sure.
|
I remember the song "Popular."
Yeah. I'm guessing that not all of their songs have nothing but talking in the verses. That was a pretty boring song, but I could tell they might have something more interesting up their sleeves. |
Still Jeru but also Pere Ubu, One Be Lo and Andrew Bird.
Holla. |
Ok, been digging:
Kaiser Chiefs - Employment The Libertines - The Libertines The Libertines - Up The Bracket The Best Of - The Smiths Bravery - The Bravery The Dears - No Cities Left Babyshambles Trying to get my hands on some Futureheads. Any other bands similar that you can recommend, apart from the obvious Morissey, Ramones, The Clash etc. Totally into the brit music at the present. |
Earl Wild - Earl Wild Plays His Transcriptions of Gershwin
This is a CD my mom gave me to listen to. I guess she knew the musician (featured on solo piano) on here a long long time ago. This is remarkable stuff. |
Gigantic Brain - The Invasion Discography
Belle and Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress |
Martin Grech - Unholy
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP Elvis Costello - This Year's Model Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation of Millions....
Glad to see you're enjoying This Year's Model. What's Unholy like? I've been listening to Miocene, earthtone 9, Aereogramme and my solitary Sunna song recently, in anticipation of getting new related albums in the post sometime soon. |
What's the best Aerogramme record Bartender?
|

Very, very dark. It's the sort of record that's could split his fanbase in half, but turn the ones that remain into a really devotional cult. I'm gonna have to give it a few more spins before I slap any sort of rating on it, but I will say it's a difficult album to listen to, yet pretty gripping all the same. |
Gigantic Brain - The Invasion Discography
Haha, I remember hearing that one song on Dargon(?)'s review. |
It's pretty funny stuff, but most of it is really cool. |
Has anyone heard of Frankenixon or does anyone have their CD, if so is it good or too girly?
|
Kinesis

It'd be worth the £8.99 that Amazon's currently asking for it, then?
What's the best Aerogramme record Bartender?
I don't know :( I bought A Story In White when it first came out (four years ago now, which is a depressing thought), and slowly came to love it. Then I just didn't buy Sleep and Release or Seclusion for some reason, despite being made fully aware of them by reviews and things. |
Kinesis
They just broke up. :( Gutted about that. |

Um.....you may not think so at first, but yeah. Have you got Open Heart Zoo yet? |
I don't actually own it, no, but I've heard it. Borrowed it from friends and things.
|
They just broke up. :( Gutted about that.
aah that sucks. :( Didn't they only release one album (Handshakes For Bullets)?
Any other bands similar that you can recommend, apart from the obvious Morissey, Ramones, The Clash etc. Totally into the brit music at the present.
^ Bands to check out (recommended albums are in italics) Pulp - Different Class Oasis - What's The Story Morning Glory?, Definitely Maybe Blur - Parklife The Verve - Urban Hymns |
What I've been diggin today:
The Ramones - Rocket To Russia The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen (depsite Iai's constant plugging of this band I have only just now listened to them - and they're good :thumb: ) Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik Elvis Costello & The Attractions - This Years Model (really liking this right now) Cab Calloway - The Best Of Cab Calloway (woke up to it and now I have loads of his songs stuck in my head) |
I've been digging Troublegum by Therapy?, quite a cool blend.
