Hello. I happen to be an American, but I must say, I kinda wish I was british sometimes. I have a distinct appreciation for British people and things, especially British music. Why is it that a lot of Mainstream American Music pales in comparison with the British stuff we get over here? The Beatles(best... band... ever), Coldplay, Radiohead (my two obsessions), Jamie Cullum (awesome), Rancid (better than American Punk, at least)... etc. And why is British humor so much funnier than a lot of the American humor? Monty Python was bloody brilliant sketch comedy, and shows like "Keeping Up Appearances", "Red Dwarf", "Are You Being Served?", "Absolutely Fabulous" and such are hilariously funny. So much of British culture seems better (and more fun) than what we have over here.

No, I am not trying to "fit in" or be a poser Brit; this is how I really feel. Any thoughts from the Brits?

-Mike

duffroxmysox 09-14-2004 09:10 AM

Untitled 09-14-2004 09:10 AM

Oh lets keep him :p

the only thing i can think of is it pisses me off that brit music cant crack america usualy, we have loads of good bands you didnt memntion and they never do to well across the pond.

You my friend are cool :thumb: What kind of culture do you see when you look from over the pond? I hope it's a good one because sometimes I hate to see what England has turned into.........But the rest of the time I love it, just to see that we have such a great and proud history makes up for it :D

Well, you see, I have the small problem of not spending much money (and being 16 and not having a lot to spend anyway), so I hardly ever buy CDs, and mostly get them gifted to me. Recently, I've been a little more bold and started to actually spend money on myself. So my CD collection grows... slowly. These are the Brits that I happen to know, and mostly love.

Good God, I almost forgot Damien Rice. He's the man! I absolutely love the album "O". And I think that the album version of Cannonball kicks the arse of the radio version quite hard. Have you ever heard it? It's set at a faster tempo, reorders the last part of the song, adds a drum track and sounds poppier. The album version is absolutely beautiful.
