Is anyone watching CNN!? New Orleans is gone! Looting in the streets, millions of peoples' homes are gone, the death toll shooting into the thousands, gas prices are raising (again), billions and billions have been lost needless to say this is the most costly storm to ever hit the US. New Orleans won't be the same for a few years. :(

Distant Echoes 08-30-2005 07:12 PM

I havent heard death in the thousands...but so far only 50 declared dead but possbly as many as 70 dead in each county. the water is still rising too, since New Orleans is 10 feet under sea level, all higher ground water is pouring down into it. ITs bad news man...

but i got that download earlier, dispite its file size. Havent watched it yet, but will soon. School starts tomorrow...:(

JonG 08-30-2005 07:27 PM

About time.
About time.

I'm back to school tomorrow, as well as Distant Echos. I really should be sleeping now

It's just horrible about New Orleans and Boluxi (sp?) and the thousands of other towns devastated by this. I hope out country will show the same outpouring of support that happened when the Tsunamis hit earlier this year. It doesn't help that Missisissippi and Louisiana and other parts of the deep south are in such poverty anyway, I hope they don't get ripped off any more

In honor of New Orleans I am listening to Gris-Gris and watching Live and Let Die.

JonG 08-30-2005 07:42 PM

I listen to Gris-gris whether there is a hurricane or not :p

I saw some pictures of it. Pretty bad.

PinkFreud 08-30-2005 07:44 PM

user title modified appropriately

Distant Echoes 08-30-2005 07:45 PM

I wonder where the New Orleans Saints will be playing...their stadium got torn up pretty bad, and is filling with water as we speak.

Thanks for the Beck, Freud. Hes undoubtadly one of my favorite guitarists! Im DLing it now.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-30-2005 07:58 PM

I was born there too. :upset:

People have flooding into Houston. My mom talked to some of the people who left New Orleans and they said they knew their house was gone. Inns are trying to rip them off too saying that you have to pay 200$ a night for an average inn too! Our interstates were backed up so far it took an hour to get into downtown.

Here's a Neil young bootleg from '71.

JonG 08-30-2005 08:17 PM

Neil Young is fantastic on "Four Way Street"

Badmoon, I asked this a while back, don't know if you ever responded. What do you think of "The Pizza Tapes"?

That is a fast link for the Neil in 71. Could've been better sound quality. Still good.

It's so sick that they are getting ripped off so badly. I hear the prices everywhere are tripleing. As if they didn't have to pay to rebuild their houses anyway
If I lived in NO I would hightail it to Mexico. Or CT...

Glitterati 08-30-2005 08:27 PM

There's been a lot of Jeff Beck here lately. Rightfully so

np: The Band - The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. The Band rule.

JonG 08-30-2005 08:29 PM

Neil's voice is incredible in that bootleg. You can understand him.

Cowgirl In The Sand is excellent on it.

I love the beginning. "I've never been on the beaches of Spain, this is how I think it would be"

Distant Echoes 08-30-2005 08:37 PM

ah, i just found my comp cant read .rar files, or its just not working. What a waste of time...oh well.

There has been alot of jeff beck around lately...im not argueing :) We should start a cult :chug:

Jeff Beck seriously doesn't get enough credit.

Oh yeah, It's all solo.

Cowgirl in the Sand went through quite the change but its still excellent.

Badmoon 08-30-2005 09:16 PM
Badmoon, I asked this a while back, don't know if you ever responded. What do you think of "The Pizza Tapes"?
It's pretty good; some amazing instrumental works from each participant (Rice, Garcia and Grisman), but there are better related albums.
In honor of New Orleans I am listening to Gris-Gris and watching Live and Let Die.
Gris-gris is a masterpiece, and when I first brought it here, none of you liked it.

Broken Arrow 08-30-2005 09:18 PM

I still dont like it.

Dancin' in the Streets>Gris Gris

ATM 08-30-2005 09:18 PM

I shouldn't read this, being that you've lost all respect and credibility from your last few posts, but yea, expect a hack in the near future.

Glitterati 08-30-2005 09:24 PM
expect a hack in the near future.
That's pretty harsh 'moon.

BludgeonySteve 08-30-2005 09:45 PM

Instead of Badmoon, it should be Meanmoon!

*crickets*

*tumbleweed*

*wonders why there would be crickets in a place where there's tumbleweed*

Yeah, sorry.
John Candy > All
:p Kidding....(even though I highly disagree)
but yea, expect a hack in the near future.

But seriously: Why do you get mad every time someone disagrees with your opinion? Your opinions aren't facts you know and you usally do present them as if they were facts. Illmatic sometimes does it too but it's mostly just you.

Leper 08-30-2005 11:47 PM

Rock IQ quiz. I got 7/10 :D

Illmatic 08-31-2005 12:36 AM

9/10

The only one I got wrong was the REO Speedwagon one.

Seafroggys 08-31-2005 12:36 AM

Yeah, lighten up, your starting to act like a metalhead.
