BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-29-2005 09:16 PM
It's gotta be Wilco and Billy Bragg's Ocean Avenue. You guys would really like that album.
You know I had the chance to take that exact album from my dad's but decided not to because I didn't know who Billy Bragg was. I'll steal it next time. :)

I say we vote on the listening party but Badmoon's suggestion might be good.

Listening Party Suggestions
---------------------------
Wilco and Billy Bragg's Ocean Avenue
Jeff Beck bootleg

Feel free to add but try and add something that we haven't all heard.

Walrus Gumboot 08-29-2005 09:25 PM

Perhaps we could take turns showcasing albums

Splat Out Plath- Congradualtions on being this thread's only known Brit :thumb:

EDIT- I wouldn't mind hearing Wilco, as my Bio and AP English teachers are always staying out late to see their concerts, and raving about how incredibly good they are

Badmoon 08-29-2005 09:26 PM

Med's british.

Hey fellow rockers, I'm kinda new to this thread (i.e. have posted in it like twice)
I like a lot of the more "mainstream" classic rock bands, but I'd like to hear some other ones that aren't as popular. I saw sometime on this thread a band called The Crimson King, I'll check them out. Any other suggestions?

EDIT: magicbus changed his avatar while I was posting :amaze: I must be blessed or something to witness such an event :D

RockAndRoll 08-29-2005 09:38 PM

when is the listening party?

Badmoon 08-29-2005 09:39 PM

They're actually called King Crimson. Their masterpiece album is called In the Court of the Crimson King, check it out.

:)

Badmoon 08-29-2005 09:39 PM
when is the listening party?
I remember that I used to think that they were cheesy. Now I love them (or atleast that one album that i've heard). It's amazing how easily my opinion is changed.

She has the strangest ability to create an attitude, atmopsphere or feeling. I was listneing to "Undo" off of Vespertine in the car but it sure did feel like Iceland or Alaska

Yeah, you're the Syd Barrett virtuoso who told me I knew what I was talking about about him that time. I felt loved :)

BludgeonySteve 08-29-2005 09:53 PM

Syd Barret was so crazy :). His lyrics rarely made sense and his guitar playing was very simplistic and kind of boring, but somehow how rocked anyways.

I (kinda) know what you're talking about. I get the same feeling from Neil Young songs sometimes, too.

Yeah...definitely a unique guy.

Cobain-a-Maniac 08-29-2005 09:56 PM

If he base music off lyrics, Nirvana is the best.
