how is Alcest black metal?

there was a big discussion on this, in the black metal thread and review site. some said they are black metal with a little bit of shoegaze influence, some said it the other way around and some people (review site) said it was dream-pop.

i think it was decided that they are shoegaze with some black metal-ish parts

also his older stuff (which i haven't heard yet) are apparently black metal

yeah i haven't heard anything by them (him) that has abbrasive vocals, tremolo riffs, blasting drums, satanic imagery, corpse paint, anything commonly associated with black metal.

although M-A says the early stuff was black metal, idk.
