That seems like the only recourse available to you.
Hey Tway, you remember the Supreme Court ruling about school newspapers? Well, I can't find the link right now, but I believe that it is being challenged, at least at a local level anyways. Just thought that you would like to know.

That's good.

It was the hazelwood case. Doesn't effect me anymore, though.

sketchyjoe 05-24-2005 10:57 AM

What's this ruling exactly?

Reaganista 05-24-2005 11:00 AM

I don't know what case he was talking about.

The Hazelwood ruling says that school administrators are allowed to make a final review of any student-run school-sponsered publications are edit certain things out. It neuters school newspapers, basically.

RetiredAt21 05-24-2005 12:19 PM

At my school, they weren't allowed to do that. The principal tried before and they wouldn't let him.

IFlogMyMolly16 05-24-2005 12:59 PM

They should be able to. It's a school run newspaper. Civil rights are limited in school, prison, and the military.

If it was just a student run independent paper, then of course, they shouldn't be able to edit it.

Scabies 05-24-2005 01:16 PM

hahahaha. listen to 'all nations under the bomb' by Conflict. When they're shouting 'bomb' at the start, imagine they're shouting 'bum' instead. its really funny.
