Sticky Fingers is probably one of my favorite Stones albums.
Easily my favourite Stones album. Stray Cat Blues sounds the same it did 5 years ago, when I first heard it.
It's my third favorite after Let It Bleed and Exile On Main Street, but they're all really close.
I'm really digging this Marquee Moon album, I'm on the third song...the songs seem to get progressively more wonderful!
I like "Guiding Light" the best on the album, but I love the album as a whole. Great guitar album.

Wait till the title track, it'll blow your mind.

Haha, yeah I'm listening to it now....I came back to this thread to make another post about how great the title track is. Although I suppose I shouldn't make a new post for every song I hear.

Does anyone have any information, interesting facts and stuff about this band? I've only heard of Marquee Moon, and this is my first time hearing it. Do they have other albums that can match this? Lets hear some info!

Illmatic 08-29-2005 04:01 PM

Marquee Moon was their one great album...they broke up pretty early.

TheDMV 08-29-2005 04:03 PM

What genre is it?

Ah ic. What year did Marquee Moon come out?

I know I could probably find craploads of stuff about the band if I did a search...but I'd rather make conversation than read bios and stuff off a site.

edit- Cool avatar TheDMV...although you don't have the coolest plant avatar on MX.

Television became well known for their performance's at the famed rock club CBGB's. Um.. The band member Richard Hell made his own band after this album called Richard Hell and the Voidoids. They made a semi-succesful album. Television's sophomore album was Adventure, which is supposed to have some good tracks, but nowhere near the greatness of their debut.
It's hard to find a decent tab of these awesome songs, although I've found a pretty good one for Marquee Moon. Um.. The drummer on this album is amazing, along with the bassist, oh and the two guitarists, they're good aswell.

Marquee Moon came out in 77.

I bring this little guy back periodacly, but it just doesn't have bonzai style staying power.

magicbus 08-29-2005 04:28 PM

Let It Bleed is my favorite Stones album.

What's the deal with Marquee Moon? Like who's it by, and where can I get a hold of it?

JonG 08-29-2005 04:31 PM

It's by Television.

Marquee Moon is a great album. I'm not as high on it as most people here though. The title track is amazing.

My favorite Stones album may be Some Girls, since it's the first one I heard and it got me into the Stones. Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Exile are all amazing and pretty much equal. Sticky Fingers is probably my favorite out of those three though.

Jacaranda 08-29-2005 04:50 PM

My favorite Stones album is Exile or Flowers. Too hard to choose.

Heh, thanks for the Television Canadian Guy.

/leecher.

magicbus 08-29-2005 04:52 PM

So far Marquee Moon is pretty cool, thanks for the link Jon.

The vocals kinda remind me of some 80's band, The Clash or Duran Duran or something. I'm not actually sure which bands play which songs.

Flowers is an early album with Brian Jones, right? Is is psychadelic like Their Satanic Majesties Request or is it more like their debut?

Its sorta a mixed one they only made it cause they had no material so their old manager just pulled a bunch of rejected songs and put them on Flowers, it was in '67, so Jones was still with them, but its a great album and they do a great cover of My Girl. It has its sorta out there songs and then it has some normal Stones songs. But for being a album made from rejected songs its good.

Oh my, I just found out Ibrahim Ferrer died, (Aug 6th, I'm really slow on recieving news). He was the singer for the Beuna Vista Social Club which was a damn good CD/band.

thickasabrick 08-29-2005 05:23 PM

I've never heard Flowers before, but when you're talking 60's Stones...even rejected songs are probably brilliant.

And you're right magicbus, I was thinking earlier the vocals reminded me of The Clash.

Most of them died pretty recentely. And by most, I mean the main characters on the video.

thickasabrick 08-29-2005 05:59 PM

Dammit, I was gonna point out last page that the numbers could be rearranged to make 1967...but I forgot and now I'm too late.

Guess what you guys....you can rearrange the page number to make 1968! I can't wait until we actually reach 1967.

Illmatic 08-29-2005 06:01 PM

What's so great about 1967?

JonG 08-29-2005 06:02 PM
