Sounds like good stuff. TBS aren't a band I'm hugely in love with, but I do enjoy them.
I recently made a recording of my band playing 2 songs back-to-back in band practice, on a small dictaphone. I was impressed by how good it's ended up sounding on that. I can YSI it if you fancy a listen?
Sorry, but this compter doesnt have speakers, i cant listen to anything on them write now. Yeah, if you turn down the bass on your computer microphone and turn it away from the amps and drums, everything sounds fine. The day we recorded the song, we werent a band for a few minutes. My guitarist (el assh0le) said 'nobody's going to buy it' when i was working on one of my songs. He corrected himself and said 'i mean, nobody will like it'. I told him that i dont care if anyone likes it, i care if we like it. If someone else likes it and buys it, that just makes it better. Then he said nobody will ever like anything i make because 'its all sh'it". So i got pissed and threw his keyboard and said 'Fuc'k it, i quit'. Then nobody said anthing for a few minutes. Then he broke the ice and said how we only play stuff that i make. THe only reason we do this is because everything he makes are just incoherent ideas, and just differnt rhythms to the same progression, and i make full songs. /end rant |
Guys...my badass beard...isn't so badass anymore :(

I have trouble writing full songs.
I can usually get a nifty chorus and what not, but then I can't think of a verse to go with it (or vice versa). Plus I usually hate using verse/chorus structure (generally makes music boring and predictable, if you ask me). Problem is I can't think of enough stuff to fill three minutes without repeating. |
I think the only solution to that problem is to join a hardcore band. Then you can write songs that don't even last two minutes, and you won't be doing anything unusual. ;)

/is trying to make a hardcore band currently Jon: You just suck at writing music, that's your problem :) |
I want to be in a band, but first I have to learn how to play guitar. I'll probably be in a band in a couple years though.

Good ranting++, sir. That's the way to handle maverick guitarists.
(edit - to cobert) I had an hour long MSN argument with my bassist about whether we should play this gig we've been offered on Thursday. The situation is this: We have 2 fully written songs, one of which could use a bit of polishing and tightening (these are the two on the recording). Then there's another song which is still an acoustic demo, and has promise but will need work to become a full song. Then there's two covers, both of which we all know but neither of which we've played together since about March. To top it off, we can only practice on Wednesday evening and Thursday before the gig. My bassist thinks that's plenty of time and we should definitely play whatever, whereas I think we'll have to rush and end up really sloppy. I think our live debut at a proper gig (as opposed to a house party which we did earlier in the year) should be well-polished and more likely to be enjoyed and appreciated by the crowd. |

The 2 songs i made that do have choruses....i might take the chorus out of one (or add a second part to the verse before the second chorus), and the other has a really short fast chorus. |

I would if I could, dude. It'd just be a XxXBREAKDOWN ATTACKXxX |

No! Don't learn guitar, learn drums. Or bass. Guitar = everyone plays. James: I'd say go for it. My band got together two weeks before our first gig and we were well received. |

Don't play it. I was in a very similar situation as you. We decided to go through with it though. We ended up sucking hard. Be as polished as you can in all cases. We did great at that house party though. I got $50 :D It depends on what songs you're playing though, and how good your band mates are, and how familiar you are with the songs.. Vince was playing Ramones and what not, and everyone in the band was very familiar with the music, even though they hadn't played together. My band was doing harder stuff to play, and our drummer is pretty bad. It depends. |
No!

You dont know when youll get another live show again. |

Well we had our first ever practice 6 days before our first gig. Although, that was a house party and we only did covers. This is a real gig, with PA and a sound desk and paying punters, and we're playing originals. I wanna make sure we can do a bit better than bosh through a few Green Day covers! I just spoke to my drummer on the phone and we're gonna have a practice on Wednesday and see if we think we can do it. Thankfully we don't have to commit to anything at all as I know the guy who's running the event. He says he'll keep us a slot if we want it, but it's fine if we decide not to play. |

Unless you get to know drummers/bassists. |
I got three cavaties filled at the dentist today and my mouth feels huge right now.
i Got my first cavity last week.
These were my first ones on my permanent teeth it didnt really hurt that bad the numbing stuff only kinda pinched and the drilling only hurt for a bit on my top teeth. |
I got my fist cavity after a year of absolutly no calcium... Or at least I'm guessing that was the problem because I was brushing my teeth a lot more than I did before.
These were my first ones on my permanent teeth it didnt really hurt that bad the numbing stuff only kinda pinched and the drilling only hurt for a bit on my top teeth.
Yeah but like, this was my first one ever. I take good care of my teeth. The only reason i got one was because my teeth are in a wierd position that makes flossing hard in the place where i got it. |
I hate cleaning my teeth like brushing is ok and usually flossing but now my dentist is like you need to do this flouride rinse and crap too. Its a pain in the butt.
|
I mightve rinsed my mouth wtith fluoride twice in my entire life.

I know tell me about it haha.
|
I don't brush my teeth to spite the dentists.

I've never had a cavity. Or braces, or any other teeth problem :)
|
My dentist gives me free teethpaste, so therefore he's pretty cool and I will never spite him.
