Yes you should. I'm having a hard time finding Rain of a Thousand Flames and a real copy of Symphony of Enchanted Lands.

I'm liking Edguy right now.

Shattered_Future 05-20-2006 08:42 PM

Well, duh. If you don't like Edguy, you don't like power metal. Plain and simple.

I have a bunch of downloaded Rhapsody, now it's time to buy some.

Deth 05-20-2006 08:45 PM

Same with me. I'll pick up Dawn of Victory and SOEL 2 soon I suppose as they are the easiest to find and cheapest.

Edguy pwn.

The Rhapsody CD I bought (Tales from the Emerald sword Saga) cost me $40 Stormrider, I live in a smaller town though so it would probably be less in Montreal. But yeah, there expensive. I never really listen to it though...which is a shame.

JausmetalJ 05-21-2006 03:31 AM

Ok guys, you know Dungeon.. You know LORD now heres to learning a lesson about Australian powermetal.

Vanishing Point, Crimsonfire, Vespers Decent, Black Majesty and alot of others fucking RULE!

Get into them right fucking now!

Stormrider 05-21-2006 04:25 PM

I just read something, an old thread in the BG forum...I didn't know Thomen was in Savage Circus.

The only one I remember seeing was 32 $ I think. It was a really nice box set I think. Felt like buying it just because the cover was so nice :p

I already know Black Majesty, but because I live beyond the black stump, I can't see them live and get to know their music. :(

Freezing Moon 05-21-2006 06:01 PM

So say I wanted some really skullcrushing old school power metal with fist-pumping choruses and blazing solos in the vein of Jag Panzer and Savatage, what would you recommend?

Riva 05-21-2006 06:04 PM

Sabaton.

Freezing Moon 05-21-2006 06:07 PM

I already have Primo Victoria but I haven't listened to it very much. I'll listen more, see if it's what I want, and get back to you.

Edit: This isn't bad, but I'm looking for something more old school sounding with more balls to it.

Riva 05-21-2006 06:15 PM

Running Wild, Manowar, Helloween, Gamma Ray.

Ranked in order of most similar to least.

Freezing Moon 05-21-2006 06:16 PM

I know all those. ;)

I hear Sanctuary is kind of like this, are they good?

Riva 05-21-2006 07:22 PM

Yeah, not as polished, I suppose you could say. Sort of the iron ore to Savatage's steel ingots.

Deth 05-21-2006 08:27 PM

On a non-power metal note, but because Riva is in here a lot, I gave Tubular Bells a listen yesterday after about 8 years. Pretty enjoyable.

Riva 05-21-2006 08:28 PM

Damn straight it's enjoyable.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-21-2006 08:36 PM

I quite enjoy Tubular Bells II.

CaptainWaits 05-21-2006 09:35 PM

What can anyone say about the band Gun Barrel?? A CD of theirs is in a clearance bin at my CD store, so I'm wondering what they could be like. I'm kind of guessing they're probably clearance material....but whatever.

Riva 05-21-2006 09:48 PM

All I know is that they're on the Limb Music label, since I saw them in a little booklet of bands that came with my copy of Rain of a Thousand Flames.

Yeh, that's why I'm vaguely interested. I saw them in the Rhapsody booklets too.

Lord Abortion 05-22-2006 02:03 AM

Most stuff on Limb is pretty good.
It's useful for finding unknown PM.

Slapping Penguin 05-22-2006 02:16 AM

YES LORDI \m/ Winning Eurovision.

PS: Ollie Britains entry sucked harder than a Nasa Designed Hoover on Supa Suck setting.

Lord Abortion 05-22-2006 02:20 AM

Yep, that was why I was supporting Finland.

Slapping Penguin 05-22-2006 04:25 AM

Haha indeed, sorry I rather needed something to point my disdain at that horrible entry. Chicks were hot however.

Lord Abortion 05-22-2006 02:23 PM

I just realised how mind-blowingly good Triumph for my magic steel by Rhapsody is.

Shattered_Future 05-22-2006 02:25 PM

I still love SOEL the most, with Legendary Tales in close second.

MetalOz 05-24-2006 09:39 AM

Anyone listen to Crimson Glory? I started with Astronomica (1999) which is amazing. Of course Wade Black has moved on and through a few bands since then (fronting Leatherwolf currently which could prove intersting)

April 2006 came reports that the core trio of Lords, Jackson, and Jon Drenning had reunited with Midnight, and have signed an album deal with Black Lotus Records, and are once again set on resuming their career.

Stoic 05-24-2006 10:39 AM

Arent they a bit too soft?

Trev 05-24-2006 12:48 PM

I have Crimson Glory's self-titled, and Transcendence. Really solid stuff.

MetalOz 05-24-2006 02:33 PM

I'll upload Astronomica if anyone's interested...

/not soft

Stoic 05-24-2006 02:43 PM

I wouldnt say no if this is the case :)

ExitWound 05-24-2006 05:53 PM

I discovered most of my favorite bands through Limb Records. Montany is incredible, which led me to Reviver. Wizard is one of my favorite bands as well. And then there's Galloglass. Cryonic Temple. And Rhapsody. Oh so good.

I wish they still offered their FREE disc samplers for download. They charge, what, $3 now? Their Third sampler disc was incredible.

Shattered_Future 05-24-2006 07:18 PM

Yea, Limb Records has a SUPRISINGLY large amount of awesomeness on it...it's almost like Century Media, except less laden with crap. Or even InsideOut Records.

MetalOz 05-24-2006 09:16 PM

I'm uploading Crimson Glory - Astronomica right now. I'm going to send it out with the daily upload. If you aren't part of the mailing list and you'd like a copy then post your email here or send me a request metaloz@yahoo.com

Yeah, and Limb Music records are never shy on bonus stuff either.

Lord Abortion 05-25-2006 02:02 AM

Good album.

The Gunslinger is an awesome song. I saw that series of books at a local store for $15 dollars each. I debated getting them. I may hire them out instead.
