Rock the Casbah is probably the most known song (if not "Should I stay or Should I go"), but when most people think of the clash, they think of london calling.

Or maybe not, I don't really know what other people are thinking.
Yes. And combat Rock is easily the most popular. Everyone knows Rock the Casbah.
You really think Combat Rock is the most popularist? I always thought it was one of the least popularist.

Forest_Fire 08-04-2005 03:18 PM

My parents didn't know who the clash were, so I started listing songs and they didn't know any until I mentioned "Rock the casbah". They said they saw the video all the time on tv.

I'd say Combat Rock is the most popular. I know it sold the most copies.

My dad likes the Clash, but mostly only the songs everyone knows. He liked Streetcore.

CombatRock 08-04-2005 05:22 PM

My mom likes Redemption Song allot, when i drive with her she sings along with it.

guns_of_brixton 08-04-2005 07:17 PM

Yea, mah pops was all like "a Bob Marley song, cool."

CombatRock 08-05-2005 10:17 AM

Your dad know Marley tunes? Off subject sorta, my dad went to Jamaica and at the hotel a reggae band was playing and doing cover songs of Marley. My dad got on stage and played the tamborine.

/no joke.

guns_of_brixton 08-05-2005 10:19 AM

Haha, that's pretty awesome. My dad likes alot of the same music as me. He recognized Holiday In Cambodia and was like, "the Dead Kennedys? You like them?"

sketchyjoe 08-05-2005 10:20 AM

It sold more but I wouldn't say it's more popular.

Aeaon 08-05-2005 01:12 PM

Some Clash fans didn't like it that much. I think it's great.

CombatRock 08-05-2005 10:26 PM
It sold more but I wouldn't say it's more popular.
London Calling didnt sale more? Seans get your dad to be yalls drummer!

sketchyjoe 08-05-2005 10:29 PM

In the US London Calling went gold whereas Combat Rock went Platinum as it had more popular singles.
Your dad know Marley tunes?
Everyone know Bob Marley. There's tribes living in the Amazon rainforest who've never met white people before but if you turned up with a stereo playing Jammin' they all go "Hey! It's Bob Marley!"

CombatRock 08-05-2005 10:31 PM

So wouldnt that mean London Calling sold more?

/i guess thats not taking in the rest of the world, only US.

sketchyjoe 08-05-2005 10:34 PM

Dunno.

CombatRock 08-05-2005 10:45 PM

Oh well, London Calling is far better. My friend pissed me off, he calims he likes the clash, has shirts and what not. The other night we were listing to music i put a clash song in he said "i dont like them" bahumbug.

guns_of_brixton 08-06-2005 11:22 AM

My dad can't play the drums...

And if Amazon tribes had never met white people they could obviously still know Bob Marley... the man is a negro.

Everyone likes the Clash to some degree because it's impossible not to know and like Rock the Casbah.

... and I am watching the Cubs/Mets game in New York, and they played "Should I Stay..." as they went to the commercials and I was like "huh?" Then I remembered the huge show teh Clash played in Shea Stadium in 1981.

Mannik 08-06-2005 07:11 PM

CombatRock 08-06-2005 07:36 PM

Not to me, i just listend to it, i like Sandinistas version better.
