^^ Agreed.
Meinl. More complex tone.
what you mean by complex? |
AA Regulars = Lifeless = No Soul.
They're too bland, They're good for hard rock, or something where the hats need to b heard (reggae). But in that case I'd suggest like a 15 K or something. Meh. My opinion though, they're very ordinary those Sabians. |
uhmm interesting, btw i dont like zildjians they're like mmm not my style, so you say i should go for meinl?
|
Get Stage hats instead of AA Regulars.

Yeah, or listen to Cocaberry. |
People who use Crashs as rides rule.
Before I got my K Ride, i use to use a 20" UFIP Class Crash (Medium) as my ride. It was great, loads of wash, with alittle ping. Shame it sucked for recording. |
I think I figured it out. Today I went to the shop and picked up a 20" HHX Stage Ride, and a 16" HHX Stage Crash. Along with those I picked up a Gibraltar Moto-style throne (9600 I believe).
I still have a few hundred dollars left, and I think I will buy an 18" Istanbul Mehmet Sultan Series Jazz Ride, 14" Sultan Series Hats, and MAYBE even an 18" Sultan Series Crash. When I set up the set with everything, I will have everything listed above + what I'm moving from my other drumset. Which is most likely a 12" Wuhan China, and my 10" HHX Splash. |
Oh, and also I'm moving my 14" Paiste Full Crash.
|
Howdy here, this is my first post here, just so you know ^^
Anyway, I'm looking for a nice hihat, I dont have alot of money to my disposal and thus ask your advice. I was thinking about the Paiste Innovations, but I'm still not sure =( I mainly play symphonic rock, like Rush, Styx and Yes, so I definitly need a nice chick. Open sound should be like a shhh that sounds quite soft and well...uhm, I guess sweet would be a good word? I would like as little ring as possible and the closed sound, well, I wouldnt really know honestly. I dont like the real dark sound, as I said before should be 'sweet' orso Grtz, and as you might have noticed, I'm not that good at describing cymbals ^^ |
Sabian EQ Hats.
or Some Zildjian Quick Beats |
So I have an 18" Paiste 2002 Classic Crash, and an 18" Sabian AA Medium Crash.
I want to get a third crash that can not only compliment those two, but also provide a dark, warm alternative to these two 'loud bright' rock crashes. I'm thinking of something along the lines of a 17" Istanbul Agop Traditional, probably a Medium-Thin. I have a 14" Thin right now, but I'm gonna replace it as its just too small to cut it as anything more then a large splash. Any ideas? |

Im thinking of purchasing some 14inch UFIP class series medium/heavy hats
Whats the pro's and cons of there type of hats? Class series decent? Im not that fmailair with UFIP's Thanks |

i was looking for a darker crash than my 18" as a second crash that would be used mostly on the offbeat and for crash riding if you get me, when i need something heavier than pinging the ride. money isnt really a problem, i just need some idea of what to get. im guessing people will be saying K custom, around 20"...but yeah, advice please. excuse my lack of techinical terms for playing, ha.

This one is for Froggys-
I recently got new 13" A Customs, and I didn't like the sound. So I took them back to Guitar Center and looked through every set of hats, combos and all, and guess which ones I bought? |

Heh.....I need more feedback on my post.....so far I have suggested Paiste Sig and Sabian HH/HHX. |
I'll give you a hint.
N_w B_ats. Would you like to buy a vowel? lol@tehoriginal 18" K Custom Dark Crash. The nicest crash ever. |
dude, I was being sarcastic ;)
welcome to the holy circle of true drummers. Only we know the true way, and that is of the New Beat. Anyways, so 18" K Custom, 17" Paiste Sig, and a 17" HH/HHX. I think my local GC has all three of those, I should try them out. Would Istanbul Trads work as well? |
Yes, most definitely.
The New Beats are sex. |
14" paiste 2002 heavy hi hats!
|
Ufips
My friend plays on the Bionic series and I really like the sound. The class series hats were on sale. I was kinda hoping for some infomative feedback, not sarcasm.
Series is "class series" as already stated |

Though one issue I have of recent, is that they are really bright, though this may be from the room I played in last. Listen to my bands songs, http://www.myspace.com/thesingletons I used my Class hats, a Natrual crash and a Experince Vintage Ride (the old model of the Boinic).
My friend plays on the Bionic series and I really like the sound. The class series hats were on sale. I was kinda hoping for some infomative feedback, not sarcasm. They are the most musical series that they offer, and are great cymbals. |
hmmm, lets see, I want a cymbal that's good for rock, but can also be stretched to play some jazz.
any suggestions? |
well thats pretty vague... you mean a ride? maybe check out some K's if they are in your price range.
|
darn, forgot some stuff, yea I meant a ride.
what are some good jazz rides? |
