T-shirt I made

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v414/Teeb/BlackFlag.jpg

I got the stencil off stencilpunx, but when I printed it off it was too small. So I got out a ruler and doubled all the dimensions.
Awesome. What type of paint did you use and where'd you get it?

ratsinthecity403 12-03-2005 10:31 AM
my band mates and i are in a hurry to make some decent merch for saturday.

1. tee shirts
2. patches
3. hats
4. pins
4 1/2. stickers
5.edit: no more scented candles...:(

ok, my ideas for the more important ones, tee's, patches, hats(anything that is fabric) was to use fabric spraypaint or dye, but im not sure if they sell that at any local fabric stores, or anywhere in my area... does anyone know where to get some, or have an alternative (shirts will be black and white and probably from a thrift store, as well as patches and hats)

can anyone give me a how to on making stickers, and scented candles(im serious, although the candles may be a bit overboard)?
Well it may be a bit late now, but as far as pins go...
to make decent ones like the ones you buy from stores, the supplies cost somwhere in the six cents a pin area, but the machine to make them cost like 130-something dollars. It's probably best to get them made somewhere unless you plan to be making a lot of your own pins.

fatcow2000 12-03-2005 11:29 AM

well, im heading out to the store now, i figure the tee's shud dry by 4.oclock, i mean its the south florida heat...

no where had black tee's, so im getting white tees... ill post some pics of the tees and the show in the forums today:naughty:

haha im excited... thanks for all the help guys, we're just making patches and tees... no scented candles:(.

thanks dudes!

Did you use a marker?

Lukeh 12-03-2005 02:56 PM

Only on the first letter of every word, I didn't use it on every letter 'cause I was afraid that it might run out of ink halfway through or something...

For the rest I just used a ball-point pen, so I don't how well it will wash yet though either =\
Awesome. What type of paint did you use and where'd you get it?
I used Jacquard Textile fabric paint (http://www.artmaterials.com.au/images/jacquard2.jpg) which I bought at Michaels.

Spenser 12-04-2005 12:14 AM

Spectacular..

Culture Shock 12-04-2005 12:26 AM

I'm going to attempt to the draw the image for a patch using a marker. Do you any of you know if there is a 'fabric' marker or anything of that nature? Please and thankyou.

RudeBoyStompin 12-04-2005 12:44 AM

Yeah you can buy fabric markers at arts and crafts stores.

Brain Toad 12-04-2005 12:45 AM

Most fabric markers are basically just sharpies, at least the one's I've seen. I don't know if the ink is any different, which I doubt.

holy_roller99 12-04-2005 03:01 AM
Most office supplies stores will have sticker sheets, but some printers don't take them, or you need a special ink cartridge or something like that. check that out. patches are easy, as someone said already. make the stencil, get black canvas (or some other rough fabric) and white paint on in 2 or three thin layers. wait to dry between each layer. and remember, don't sell to make a profit! that's the true punk way. sell to break even.
for patches my friend recommended taht i use denim sheets ( old jeans) and sew them under the thin fabric or T-Shirt fabric. that will make them sturdy.

Culture Shock 12-04-2005 02:59 PM

Hopefully those markers are decent, although I hate how they aren't very bold ( pretty much all markers in general after using them on fabric).

Just don't wash whatever you are writing on in water, or it will fade big time.

Once I get some more sheets for my jacket, I'll post the brand and instructions for the dry cleaning, because its the best way to clean patched up clothing without fadeing and destroying.

Off-subject, will you be attending the Smash EDO demo in Brighton? I urge you to go. I would be going, but I already had major plans for that w/e before I knew about it=(. GO! Here's the URL:

Sebek 12-04-2005 03:35 PM

I have a few more additions on my leather to show, but lack a digital camera. I'll try to take some next time I hang out with a friend of mine, in which case I'll probably have some more new stuff by then tho show as well

On it now:
Nile - spraypaint
Clockwork Orange - patch
Chaos UK - patch
Ratt - acrylic paint

To come soon (I hope);
Death - acrylic paint
Pork Dukes - acrylic paint or patch
G.B.H - acrylic paint
Iniquity - patch preferable since it's a pretty detailed logo

And whatever else I think of in the meantime.

Yeah I definitely will be, cheers. Sorry you won't be there, but it's cool, I'll probably post about it after or something in case there isn't much other info on how it went down.

coheneran 12-05-2005 12:55 PM

I found a good DIY section on Schnews. I am going to install some of those anonymity programs. And maybe a bit of subvertising. Enjoy.

I am wondering if threadstarter would be willing to turn this thread into other non-DIY (well, not very) and related direct action thread, as it will be more concentrated and easier to find the information you need quickly than if I made a Direct Action/Activism thread. I have a bunch of stuff to post about direct action and how to get into 'the circle' of direct action activists. I myself am looking into joining the hunt sabouteurs in my area, and have a bunch of links for other areas, and for other causes, if people want.
What say you, threadstarter?

Why don't you just start a direct action thread?

coheneran 12-05-2005 02:27 PM
Why don't you just start a direct action thread?
Like I just badly implied, direct action involves a hell of a lot of DIY, so why not integrate the two threads, that way people looking for a certain action can find the DIY on it at the same time, and vice versa. I don't mind making a diraction thread, but I feel this way would make it easier.

Shtein 12-05-2005 03:05 PM

It would be easier if you didn't ask and just went ahead and did it, I'd post in it.:D

coheneran 12-05-2005 03:08 PM

I'll make it after this show about the tsunami.

Teeb 12-05-2005 07:32 PM

I want to make a Propagandhi shirt, but I don't have any good ideas. Can anyone think of anything?
I want to make a Propagandhi shirt, but I don't have any good ideas. Can anyone think of anything?
Do a Fuck the Border one.

I think I might make one of those.

Brain Toad 12-05-2005 07:43 PM

I think I may make a shirt that says "**** the ALF", but I'm afraid of the people thinking I'm referring to the loveable fuzzy alien.

User Name 12-05-2005 07:51 PM

I hate 'em both, make the shirt

Brain Toad 12-05-2005 07:52 PM
I hate 'em both, make the shirt
I may add Activism doesn't mean Terrorism on the back as well, so it reduces more confusion.

But I love Alf.

coheneran 12-05-2005 07:54 PM

Who are ALF? Aryan mumblemumble Federation?
